I personally didn't see any tutorials on how to re-skin units. Does anybody know what programs to suggest? I do have a DDS Converter and I can get Photoshop from some friends who don't use it. Anything I should realy know?
these threads show only how to put dds files into the game or give merly a rough skeleton. What's missing totally is some kind of painting guide. making a skin is quite different from painting on i.e. paper. Some modelparts aren't recognizeable at all in an opened dds file(so it seems). It WOULD be helpful if someone who mastered that shared his knowlegde about the details of painting skins with the rest of this forum.
I'm not sure what you guys are getting at Do you want a tutorial on how to draw/create the texture? Or do you want a tutorial on how to figure out where each part of the image goes on the model? (Both don't have a "one way to do it" btw) Or is it something else?

I'm referring to the second point. Easier models like the warrior are not so hard to find out but when it comes to a maceman I already get into trouble. And where the hell is the staff for the female settler? and the like.
and Thasis the programs you need are easy to find links for in the above mentioned tuts
