SKNES: Architecture of Aggression

These orders for BT or last IT?

Can't send orders due to banned by Parents and certain people ignoring things that should not be ignored.

There are still 2 ITs after this turn ,which is also an IT.
Terrance, I'll just bank all your money minus upkeep until you can send orders.

To: The Roman Empire, the Duchy of Taman, Any Others Who Take Interest
From: King Vordin the Brute of Armenia, Patriarch Mozses V of the Hayaren Church

"The Kingdom of Armenia sees the Byzantine Patriarch claims to clergy illegitimate, no matter how great a man he is, and reject his position. The Hayaren Church is to now be operated from the Cathedral at Yerevan, under the Armenian Patriarch. This is an official religious split. We still, however, hope to have good diplomatic relations with the Orthodox Church.
We expect Taman to back this decision."

Wow, Christianity is dividing even faster than in real life. Soon, every Christian state will have their own church!

It's similar to several events that happened in the Byzantine Empire and the Orthodox Church historically, just more widespread.

The claim to any important position by an individual would be based on legitimacy and ability of the man in question. The claim to the right to host an important position by a state is entirely different. For dividing forever the Orthodox Church based merely on one man's claim to return the patriarchy from Armenia to Constantinople is as ludicorus and as dangerous as the attempt to divide the Frankish church from Avignon from the Papacy. We all remembered how only when Clovis threw away such demons and returned to the Pope himself in absolution did his suffering end for such an act. Indeed, no real religious reasons were given, only the reason that they saw the appointee is illegitimate: nor did they have provisions to have their own Patriarch enter the council to be the Patriarch of Constantinople in the attempt to heal the wounds of the Mad Emperors. Unless we see further details about what reasons for this illegitimacy, or true attempts to aid the Byzantine Orthodoxy to return to its former christian state (even if merely orthodox), Aquitaine will see this as further evidence of Armenia's natural tendencies revealing themselves.

Naturally, this view has not yet been certified by the HRE as a whole, nor of the papacy, but the Duchy and Electorate of Aquitaine herself.

These men claim to be great leaders of faith. But where was he when the Hellenes were ruling his nation? Was he truly such a Pariah of Orthodoxy? Or perhaps he does not hold the ear of God. Armenia and its people never broke. We have followed Christianity for centuries. He is from a nation that broke its faith. For all we know, he was Hellenistic Priest merely years ago. He has no right to uproot the position of a man who has kept the faith strongly in the majority of his own nation, when his is still so deeply rooted in Paganism. Perhaps this issue will blow over, but we need some true signs of his God-Chosen rights.

OOC: That's 50% BS up there. All of my Kings have their own agendas. The previous one was concerned with re-buliding Armenia and its government and reputation. Vordin's concerns are with making it a world power, which is easier with religious sway. Similar to many leader's actions both historically, and within NESes. Just don't let one King's actions paint the entire nation. For all you know the people could disagree with this decision, and we could have a new King VERY soon.

EDIT OOC: Besides, my orders would've been otherwise boring and I wanted to add something interesting.

I'm sorry to be 'that guy', but are the stats on the front page the most up-to-date ones?

To: Armenia
From: The Roman Empire

We never made any attempt to force you into accepting the Patriarch of Constantinople, but we see no reason for you not to. The Patriarch of Constantinople was a religious leader in the old underground Orthodox community, and was selected for the position by the Patriarchs in Angora and Sicily. We would also like to remind you of your words not long ago:
To: Emperor Constantine IX
From: King Vordin the Brutal

Respect and trust is something slowly earned, not immediately given. Full recognition of your Patriarch will be returned when we believe he is worthy. Until then we recognize our own lands as the home of Orthodoxy.

To: Duchy of Taman
From: Roman Empire

Throw off the Armenian brutes who seek to destroy the true Church for their own personal gain! Declare your freedom from your corrupt masters who only seek to increase their own power, and you will have favor in the eyes of God!

To: Catholic Church
From: The Roman Empire

We would greatly appreciate it if you could find it in your hearts to not interfere with the conversion of the Roman Empire back to the Christian faith. Though we understand that it is not the same faith as yours, certainly there are better places for you to spread your theology then in our Empire. The situation is likely to be unstable as it is and such efforts will only lead to further instability and the increase the chance that other hostile ideas spread.

TLK: you are correct. IIRC though, the only difference between them and the ones below update 7 is that Brythonia's color was fixed, so its not a huge difference.

Pope Macarius I of Alexandria and Patriarch of all Africa (the Coptic Pope) and King Dil Na'od of Aksum strongly condemn this schism and hope that this ends quickly and that the Armenian Church rejoins the Eastern Orthodox Church.

OOC: This whole "Armenian Schism" episode is probably going to blow over when the king gets killed by the Patriarch of Armenia.

Wait, at this point in time, aren't Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy still technically unified as the State Church of the Roman Empire, since the Great Schism has not happened? (yet)

To: The Roman Empire
From: King Vordin of Armenia

My words were not carefully chosen. Let me word better. We wish to remain with amiable relations and do not wish this to be viewed as an insult. Perhaps we will re-join after both our Patriarchs lie dead, and the clergy and people of both our nations decide. We hope you do not take offense, old friend.

Sorry about not getting orders in, Southernking. I was expecting to be NPC'ed this turn, and return fully next turn. I can send some crude orders if you want me to tonight. I basically imagined the entire turn being used to transfer into a republic.
