To All my Friends here at CivFanatics and the World:

During this Covid-19 Pandemic, the internet has slowed and has slowed drastically for me to the point that I cannot connect or interact without waiting for extremely long periods of time, if at all.

I have been able to at least check here once a day after waiting long periods of time.

I am only able to have DSL where I live and that has slowed from the "pipeline" in my area being overwhelmed (many times only 1 kb per 1 to 4 seconds) as well as the entire internet due to people needing and wanting to use and socialize through the internet as they are stuck in their homes.

I wish you all Good Health and the ability to cope with this Covid-19 Pandemic and the plethora of individual trials and tribulations that go with it.

There are many people who have serious Health conditions and need Medical Attention but cannot get it due the Covid_19 Taking The Priority Position now.

Things will get better and we all need to do our part to help and at least not hurt this situation.

It may help us to ask ourselves... when this Pandemic Ends, "will I be proud of what I did to cope with and handle this situation".

On the Bright side... perhaps many of us can have some Fun distractions at home playing Games we would normally not have time for.

What ever your individual situations are during this Crisis, I wish each of you well and the ability to solve and or cope with it all... be safe.

This is a great post Vuldacon! :) Of course I wish you - and all other civers the same.

When the internet connection becomes slow, may be it´s a good idea to continue the work on one´s mods and scenarios and Vuldacon, in your special case, may be to create another one of your high quality units.

Stay all safe, mates
we are battling here now but we'll find our way through it

It comes and goes here. Some days it'd be faster to just ask for a printout to be delivered by mail, others it's normal.

See you when it's over, Vuldacon! :wavey:

And God help us all.

and: A belated Happy Birthday Vuldacon! :bday::band:[party]

It´s a pitty, that the new layout of the forums at CFC doesn´t inform any longer about the birthdays of its members. I have seen it today, when looking in some of my old posted threads, that 20th March is an important date.

Even in the time of Corona and slow internets, there must be time for such a post. :)

Civinator... Thank You for your Birthday thoughts. I am Happy to be here another Year :)
Happy to see you all here are able to post and it is Good for us to see our friends are still here and coping with the plethora of individual problems this Pandemic has caused.

I want to post a concern of mine concerning the Covid-19 situation and safety.
Some people live where they can have deliveries of Food, Medicine, etc... I am concerned that it may not occur to many people that what ever they take into their homes can have the Covid-19 Virus on the surfaces.
Last report states that the Virus can live 4 hours on Copper, 24 hours on Cardboard/Paper and 2 to 3 days on Stainless Steel and Plastic... I will add Glass to that and Hard, Smooth surfaces.

Whether you have to get out to pick up items in or outside of a store or have items delivered to your Home... Anything that has been touched by others (Surfaces or items) poses a threat of having the Virus on its surface.
I have Gloves in my Laboratory for use in and outside of my home and I recommend the use of Gloves when handling items brought into your Home. If you can set aside some items and wait before handling them to be sure any surface contamination of Covid-19 is dead, that will help protect you.

Covid-19 is at least 3 times more infectious than "normal" Flu Viruses... so take it seriously and practice Good procedures to prevent being infected or infecting others.

Because we are all Bombarded with Covid-19 reports from TV, Radio and Periodicals daily, it causes more stress and fear. There is no need to horde Food out of fear that there will not be enough. It is understandable that if people can obtain more than they normally would at one time, many do because they can then go longer periods of time without having to get out more often to get Food and items they need. That said, there is no need to panic or feel desperate. Just get the facts and practice Good safety procedures.

I do not like the term 'Social Distancing"... I believe it should be called Physical Distancing. People are socializing by phone and internet, which is the safest way. "6 Feet" is not a magic absolute distance that will protect you.
Most of the masks used will basically only protect others from those wearing the masks if they sneeze or cough. Those masks will not totally protect the people wearing them as the water droplets can be 5 microns and less. Another problem is that the extremely small droplets can be suspended in the air for long periods of time and people can walk through them or the air currents can blow them across people who then inhale them and become infected. The Virus requires water to live and dehydration will kill the virus with time. As far as going outside, it is a good idea to wear even a simple mask, if you will be round people, to at least help prevent inhaling small water droplets in the air from others who are infected when they sneeze or cough.

Remember that this virus can also be airborne and certainly on surfaces and items you can take inside your home... so it certainly requires more than "Social Distancing" to protect ourselves.

Protect Yourselves, Family and Friends by staying away from People, Surfaces and items outside your Home... and when you do bring anything inside your home, remember to practice Good Safety procedures to prevent the infection of Covid-19.

Again, I wish all of You, Your Families and Friends Good Health and the ability to safely cope with the Covid-19 Pandemic along with your individual situations and needs as you endure this crisis.

Use the LUCK principal... Laboring Under Correct Knowledge.

wolf_66... Thanks, I know your part of the World has been very hard hit with Covid-19 and it has caused much suffering and Deaths.
You take care and stay well.

Hope you are able to have some Fun distractions while waiting for things to get better.

Over at Off-Topic it's reported that for some people CFC's the most sociable medium of communication because there's actual conversations and so on. Weird times.

And in weirder times indeed I might have gone mad from the isolation but I am even planning on making a unit graphic after all this time.
