SMAC crash

Hi, I've only been playing SMAC for the last 3 days, i've got to 2329AD with the Sparta, I'm using a massive map, i've got a massive army, I'm about to start global war, i've got 25+ bases, then at the end of the turn, there is a random crash!
I've tried a few times and the same problem keeps happening!

"teran exe. has stopped working"
doesn't give any more info on the problem!


any suggestions on what the problem is? I spent a long time getting a huge contient for my Sparta, and I'd hate to restart the game.
If anyone could help it would be good to nip this problem in the bud now.

will the patch from the fraxis website deal with this? i'm downloading it now...

that download didn't help! its for xp and I'm using Vista!

I tell you what, I will play the game again with similar settings, and do a controlled test, and let you know the results.
 
I'd guess that something about a particular unit is triggering a bug. Do you have any units operating at the very top of the map? Are any planes set to scramble to defend bases automatically? Have you tried, as a test, ending the turn witout moving anything?

Sometimes if you can get past the choke-point where it keeps happening you'll be okay. Sometimes not. Do keep us posted.
 
to further the prior post do not have any units using automatic movement at the near the poles and kill any AI units you finds scurrying around the poles
Do not set any air to air units on automatic intercept.

Hey Busters Uncle, do you recall offhand if the unofficial patch deals with these two particular bugs?
 
The unofficial patch won't help miramira since it's only for SMAX, not for SMAC (as of now).

Anyway, vyeh pointed me in direction of this thread regarding AC exe. I just finished porting over all applicable fixes to AC that I've done to ACX. I'll need to double check a few things but maybe by this weekend I'll have copy of AC ready for testing. I haven't done any testing myself although code base is identical it was just a matter of applying it to AC exe. It does include fixes to crashes mentioned above. I would appreciate someone to go through ported fixes and make sure they're all working ok with AC.

For next public release (and future), I intend to include fixes to both AC/ACX although my focus will still be ACX.

Well it looks enabled on my end and I did receive a PM this past June which I was trying to respond to. My guess is anti-spam has me flagged. Will see if post #6 sorts it.

Nop. I was trying to respond to Dasphios regarding memory corruption/crash with MP since he said he could provide saved game to demostrate it.
 
Ok, I got it to work by disabling then re-enabling it in options. Somehow that got it to update because it was enabled to begin with.
