Yay! Georgia! :king:

I was really unconvinced until I saw the lion painting, so good job orangeblue47!

Curious how Firaxis went for the more crusader-styled shield over the traditional round one. I think that's what really threw many of us off.

The round shield is used by infantry while the kite shield is designed for mounted combat. During Tamar's time, Georgia was known for having a huge number of heavy cavalry.

Possible capital: Tbilisi (this was the capital during Queen Tamar's reign)

I'm glad it'll no longer be on the Mongol City-list like in Civ5. :D

Knight replacement UU? Don't we have enough of those?

Remember kids, tomorrow stay away from facebook, twitter and steam comments, it will be all complaints about another woman being added, another "insignificant" country being added and worse of all sins, another Civ that isn't the Ottomans being added. We just need to survive the hate and the dream will come true, Georgia isn't a meme anymore.

Stay safe on Civfanatics where people are reasonable and on Reddit where you can downvote.

Beware of Youtube and Reddit comments! Abandon all hope, ye who enter there!

Don't Eastern Orthodox place a lot of emphasis on the Epiphany, which was two days ago?

Orthodox Christians follow the Julian calendar, so Orthodox Epiphany is technically 12 days from January 7. However, apparently, there are some Orthodox churches that use the Gregorian Calendar (Greece and the Balkan churches as far as I know) instead of the Julian calendar, and celebrate Christmas the way Western Christianity celebrates it.

What are these leaks everyone is talking about?
Over in the "which are the last four civs" thread, there are reports on someone who claims to do QA for civ localization posting on a Chinese forum alleged hints pointing to the Zulu and to William Wallace.

In my opinion, the UU should be Khevsureti warriors, as seem in the trailer. A Medieval melee class unit.

btw, TOLD YOU GUYS THAT WAS GEORGIAN SOLDIERS IN THE TRAILER.

Georgia of Tamar just seems really obscure to me. What about the Celts? Incas? Normans? Sioux? Assyrians? Babylonians? I hope we still get one of these as a new civ.

Georgia.

Back before vanilla came out there was a fuzzy poster of leaders in the background of a video. We couldn't figure out who came between Barbarossa and Pericles (it turned out to be Gorgo). People would quickly look at wikipedia's list of civs and guess Georgia because it was mistakenly placed between Germany and Greece alphabetically. This went on far too long.

It became something of an in-joke.

Is this thread still readable somewhere in Civfanatics, or is it archived/deleted from the page already? Could someone maybe link this thread? I prefer to study the history of meme Tamar to studying the history of the actual historical figure.

You could probably search for it, but be warned. It is over 4000 posts long and will warp your mind.

So what do we think the civ colors of Georgia? Red on Gold?

The colors will be difficult. I would give them red/white, but this is taken by so many (England, Poland, Austria,...). Tamar used a Black/Red flag (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Georgia_(country)#Georgia_(1991–2004)). But this would be confusing, too (Barbs, Indonesia). Is red on gold still available?

I think the colors will be red on purple like the Georgians in the trailer.

This is basically civfanatics fan service. I don't mean to degenerate Tamar (who I think will be an interesting addition) or Georgia (which is a lovely country), but this would not have happened without this forums insistence.
