Georgia of Tamar just seems really obscure to me. What about the Celts? Incas? Normans? Sioux? Assyrians? Babylonians? I hope we still get one of these as a new civ.

I think several of these will be in the game, eventually (maybe not the Sioux now, after last week). Firaxis is trying something new with this version of Civ, though, and that is introducing non-typical Civs into the mix. Georgia is one such example. Otherwise, we will have gone through six Civ titles with more or less the same civs, with only graphic and gameplay mechanics really changing.

I was skeptical about Georgia during the meme days, too, but after seeing how well Ed and co. have developed these civs into truly interesting options, I am comfortable with seeing them in the game.

I was hoping for more of these 'controversial' Civs. After Cree and Georgia...who knows. We might get Israël, Cuba and Trump as a leader for USA. (last one is a joke, but I really am hoping for the first two. I want to see Russia and USA throw a fit over stupid **** like game content. )

I'm going to call it first: Georgian media will report this as a story, while American media will get confused as usual.

Georgia the State is being added as a Civ!?

I am happy. It is happening and I cannot believe it. Way to go. When there is motivation, 10 minutes is all that takes.

I am excited for this, especially because she is the female leader that fits the Golden Age mechanism talked about by Ed Beach. I am just excited to see how they'll do it. Cannot wait for tomorrow's First Look.

^This!

I am so happy...
... and baffled, since I had no idea the inclusion of Georgia would make me grin like this.

Why not Alabama, we are more significant.

ok well as it is 2am, enjoy freaking out about Tamar everyone

Trump as an alternate leader would be a good April Fools joke, but Stalin as an alternate leader for Georgia is a legitimate possibility.

No, however I could see people wanting him over Tamar in comments.

Not sure if it has been said yet, haven't read all 10 pages, but the Coat of Arms for Georgia prominently displays two lions...

EDIT: Though if I'd looked at the last pages I'd have known that Georgia had already been determined to be the civilization.

Same here lol. Had no idea I'd have this reaction.

This is basically civfanatics fan service. I don't mean to degenerate Tamar (who I think will be an interesting addition) or Georgia (which is a lovely country), but this would not have happened without this forums insistence.
I think the word you’re looking for is “denigrate”, but yeah I agree with you. Personally not a huge fan of this choice if it means the exclusion of the Ottomans. Yes, I know they will be added EVENTUALLY, but we’ve already been waiting a year and a half for a side that a HUGE volume of people have been demanding since day one.

Yeah, I wish they hadn't run with this joke that really wasn't funny in the first place.
