Apparently, "the embargo" has been lifted and it's reported that Britain/England is not in the base game. Is that true?
Britain is not in the base game, but it has a lot of company.Apparently, "the embargo" has been lifted and it's reported that Britain/England is not in the base game. Is that true?
I mean, until like 8 weeks ago people were saying Britain was 100% gonna be in base game. Not sure it’s reasonable to say “100% sure.”Once we are at 39 civs (13 each era from the 2 x 4 civ DLCs), then there will be Britain... the only one that people are pretty much 100% sure of (not sure which DLC its in, but Most people are certain it will be in.) [its the only one in every guess of 8 I have seen]
So, have we never had a full and true Civilization game ever? Because as far as I can tell we've never had Britain before, only England? Both Britain and Germany will be in the true base game, the release date for which hasn't been announced yet.
However, neither will be in the paid Early Access / Beta, which will be playable starting on February 6th.
It doesn't matter what Firaxis numbers the version, whether 0.9, 1.0, or 2.0; until Britain is in the game, it's not fully and truly Civilization
not sure, but i wish we could use FuturaIs there a way to override posts’ font settings somewhere in my user profile?
Yeh it has been known for a while as others have mentioned.Apparently, "the embargo" has been lifted and it's reported that Britain/England is not in the base game. Is that true?
As a Brit myself i would have to agree our relevance has diminishedI'm oh so tempted to point out that, in the wake of Brexit, Great Britain is no longer a major civilization. But it would be rude to point that out, so I won't![]()

Fortunately this is a game and the developers state that a criteria for selection is how much the civ has influenced the world, and for good or ill the British have had a massive influence on the worlds history. It is a real head scratcher that they left out the largest empire in history in a game that is about empire building and colonisation. Anyway time will tell- the dlc will soon be out![]()
...No, no it isn't. That would be like having England/Britain in the game and saying that it's essentially the U.S.A.Normandy is essentially England, so you have it.
England should be the Exploration Era civilization and Britain its Modern Era successor, in the same way Castile should be in Exploration and Spain in Modern. It will be part of the DLC cash grab, GB should be in as an exploration civ not the Normans with the again another DLC grab switching into the Modern nations of Scotland and England
100% disagree Britain as a modern day civ is a busted flush.England should the the Exploration Era civilization and Britain its Modern Era successor, in the same way Castile should be in Exploration and Spain in Modern.
If we see the "Modern Era" as covering the period between 1910 and 1970, which is one of many definitions, then yeah, I would agree with you.100% disagree Britain as a modern day civ is a busted flush.
Over 65 nations have gained independence from the “United “ Kingdom and it would make sense from a continuous point of view that the United Kingdom switch like shortly in real life ..,
Back into Scotland England and Ireland.
Maybe when 2K hard sell the missing Age
We could have England/Scotland switched to the UK then back into Scotland England .
Might even buy it then
