I have seen lots of negativity and disappointment around how Britain was implemented (including I admit from me) but the drawbacks has already been discussed quite extensively. Everything has good parts as well as bad and I haven't seen much discussion of positive responses to Britain - what aspects of the design do you like or have positively surprised you? :) For my part, I really wasn't expecting Jerusalem for the theme music but it works better than I would have expected!

The music is all I’ve experienced so far too, mostly because it inspired me to take Ada down a dark path and start conquering weaker neighbors. But the (initial) colonial waring is now over, unique explorers are a turn away from coming online, and Oxford just unlocked the first column of techs. My oversees colony is growing in pops and production at an almost alarming rate (the only city connected to most of my towns), what could go wrong…

Edit: and first artifact is…4 tiles away from London. 20 culture here I come!

I happened to have an exploration Normans game going when the DLC hit, so I gave them a whirl. They have a fairly solid kit, not super strong in one area but decent across the board. I doubt they will be seen as "optimal" for any given victory paths, but they have versatility going for them, which is nice. Splash damage boat does put in some work, should you find yourself in a naval war (I did). Gold generation is well above average.

I love Ada’s dress.
It was funny seeing her and catherine in the diplo screen together, competing for the biggest pannier (ada won)

I'm also a fan of their theme.

Ironic given that Catherine comes from the era when a pannier could justifiably take up the entire diplomacy screen. :p Ah, well, given our lack of French leaders, we just need to wait for Marie Antoinette to come along and show both of them what real panniers look like. :mischief:

I kinda like how Britain is just dlc and not in the base game, makes the low/missing asset quality seem less annoying.

It would be interesting to see how many people actually played Britain... You could complain about lack of unique models without playing or owning the civ, but for most positive sides you need to actually play them (well, probably except music, you could enjoy it on YouTube).

EDIT: The bug with unlocking Britain surely doesn't help either

In which version of the game do you get Britain? I don't think i can choose them. Mac. Basic version of the game.

Jerusalem

Aye, sounds like they should have just named the Dlc Civ as England and be done with it . Croc o shirt

ha, ha. That is one reason I was surprised by the choice :lol:I didn't get any non-English settlement names yet either which is a bit odd (but might just be random chance)

There are no non-English city names in the GB list according to the wiki, which is inexcusable. I'm a born Londoner and I'm offended on behalf of my brothers and sisters from the other home nations, who have every right to be livid. That said, a quick look down the Prussia city list shows Munich (Muenchen) which was never a Prussian city so it's not the only laziness.

Edit: Exeter (my handle namesake) doesn't make the cut, presumably thanks to Plymouth and Bristol being so close 😢

Edit edit: I realised this was in the positive GB thread 😅. I do enjoy their gold purchasing bonus!
