So, who is taking Civ V release week off?

I have 19 days holiday left to take this year. I reckon i'll need a couple of weeks at Xmas and a day or two for the Oktoberfest but that still leaves a week I could take and give over to Civ 5.

How does one explain that to The Wife?

Easy, you work for your money, you use your spares how you see fit.

No need to randomly insult USians. Wait.... what am I saying that for, I don't believe that to be true, although you shouldn't do it, it be against forumn rules.

Day/Month/Year does make more sense, and so does Miles as apposed to Kilometers and Spelling Colour with a U, It all makes more sense to do it the English way. But I think I might be a bit bias'd.

Also the date difference for release has nothing to do with format, its 21st of September in North America, so I assume it will be released to The US/Canada/Mexico on the 21st. (Otherwise they wouldn't have said NorthAmerica, they would have said "The US".
But if you live elsewhere in the world, say Europe, the Internation release date is the 24th of September, thats many precious wasted hours of "one more turn" :(.

Got the next monday off work, maybe i'll add a couple more days if i feel like it. Now i really would like to put time in quick forward to reach sept. 24th in a second ^^

Lol, the guy who is worried about lot of homework in Grade 9 doesn't need to worry that much, especially in the first month (or second, I don't know your school board). Grade 10 probably won't be too bad for me.

Also, I don't like it when the North America (Canada/USA/Mexico) relase is just the "USA" release. That is 140,000,000 people your ignoring there.

The release date happens to be my birthday and I had already scheduled a week off. I just know back then the true reason for my week off until I heard the release date announcement. Now I do.

yeah my 30th B-day is the 24th, so I get a 3 day headstart on my birthday present to myself. And I'm putting in for that wed-fri off, with the weekend and then the next monday off... good times indeed!

I might take that Friday off to extend the weekend, not sure. I don't have a whole lot of vacation days left for the year.

In Europe game is released on Friday and if I get it that same day, I can play whole afternoon and weekend besides some time that I have to spend studing .

Got the next Monday off work, too. However, I don't think I'll survive until then... I need Civ V now... At least the demo or something beta, pleeeze :please:

Fourth time I'm visiting civfanatics today - while being at work in the office :mischief:

A bit off topic but: why is the release date different between USA and Europe ?

I read in another thread this is because games typically come out on tuesday in the USA and friday everywhere else, and despite the fact that a lot of people will get this digitally, they still have to tie in to retail.

Sounds silly to me but I've had to wait weeks/months for european games to be available in the US so whatever.

I wouldn't think that was he case Zhahz, it's just a US company favouring their own continent is all :(

Quit my job and won't start at my new job till after release... :D

The last week of September will be my last free week for a long time as I finished my studies and am about to start my first job on October first. So what better way to spend your last true holidays than with playing Civ V! :crazyeye:

Alas, time is my most precious commodity, and I cannot afford to lose any of it.
