So you guys aren't nerds!!!

I'm a nerd, for I don't sport and hate hiphop :)

I'm not a nerd but the above description doesn't exactly fit me, especially the hip hop part

Your friends say this about us and then proceed to brag about football stats?

Nerds beat people from the "popular crowd" with egos so big they need a Uhaul to carry them around....

Though some nerds do just need to be slapped occaisionally ;)

I refuse such labels. I come home from my holy saturday-evening basketball to play a round of CIV, than after an hour or two go out with my lady and my friends for a beer and music. Now what am I?

I tell you. I'm me. That's it.

Sharky over here has got a point

The world is not black and white, and stereotypes arent always stereotypical :p

I am not a nerd. All I know about computers are the things I need to know in order to mod civ. Also as some might think im not that much into sci-fi.

Oh and I do sports.

I was putting you guys on, Im no nerd. Im more like James Bond. The names Pothead, DUMB pothead. Im wearing a tuxedo right now.

It's less about how you dress and more about how you interact with others. For example, when I do my nerd costume (as illustrated previous page), even though my clothing is nerded out to the max I actually wouldn't fit in the stereotype since it tends to make me the life of the party.

I'm antisocial, I enjoy computer games and the net way too much for my own good, I read nothing but history books when I'm not online, I stay at home on days off.

But I'm not a nerd. :D

Lessee:
I can quote whole Monty Python sketches from memory, I've read 'The Trilogy' about a hundred times, I play Civ, debate evolution, loathe Star Trek AND Star Wars, am a classic rock snob, a natty dresser (polos and jeans mainly), have a moustache and a Fu Manchu, and wear wire-frame glasses. I hate all sports but pro football, and only watch that for the strategic aspects. I love movies, but watch only Smallville, JAG, and The Simpsons on TV.

Am I a nerd?

My wife is hot, so I think that in itself keeps me from being a nerd.

I used to be a Trekkie (actually, thats TREKKER, not Trekkie, just knowing the correct term in itself confirms my nerd status), but not to the extent that I went to conventions or anything like that.
@Sparrowhawk, Im glad clothes dont matter, because Im a lousy dresser. I only wear clothes because its illegal to walk around naked:lol:
@Fearlessleader: No, from your description, youre a Neo-zoom-dweebie. Myself, Im more of a Neo-MAXI-zoom-dweebie. Being a Star Trek fan grants me the maxi status.
@thestonefan, no you arent a nerd. Being married automatically exempts you. The only way you could be a nerd if youre married is off youre a rail thin, short, pencil necked geek with glasses, who's hen pecked by a big fat over bearing broad who regularly wacks you on the back of the head when she catches you reading or day dreaming.

Breakfast Club was just on WGN again, huh?

I am rather hen-pecked, I guess.

But, I would describe myself as 'wiry' as opposed to 'rail thin'.

I'm not a nerd at all. I am intelligent, and I enjoy Civ, but I do so many more things. I don't look like a nerd in the slightest, I barely have acne and I only wear glasses on the computer otherwise I get terrible eye strain. Plus, I know nothing about Star Trek.

Does this look like the face of a nerd to you? ;)

You have some nerd-like qualities, but that is healthy.
