So you guys aren't nerds!!!

I really hate Star Trek and is why I say that. Though I do know some people who just watch Star Trek now and again. The Trekkies make me sick with their character worship. Plus the fact that William Shatner is such a ba$tard.

Yes, all the costumes freak me out. Whats the big problem with Shatner though? (i admit i dont know much about him about then his shows)

I read his memoirs on the show (he pulled some hilarious pranks on Leonard Nimoy). Apparently he was a real jerk during the entire run of the show. He didn't even realize this until Nichelle Nichols (Uhura) verbally slapped him in the face about it many years later. James Doohan (Scotty) still won't speak to him.

God, I am a dork. :crazyeye:

where did the hip-hop thing come from?
nerds don't listen to hip hop.

so i'm a computer programmer.
don't mind the odd star trek here and there.
i spend most of my day around computers.
i wear jeans and a black t-shirt most of the time.
I listen to hard rock, and alternative/punk music.
I play sport 3x a week
I love watching sport on tv: cricket, soccer, football (aussie variation)

so as you can see, many nerdish qualities - enough so that I call myself a nerd, but I'm not your stereotypical nerd :)

I think in the first post hip hop was used as a point to show that he wasn't a nerd.

i play football and baseball, so that automatically disqualifies me for being a nerd.

First of all-hip hop sucks.

Second, I'd say I'm a nerd, but I don't think other people think I'm a nerd. I sorta play sports(does cross country, track, skiing and swimming count?), but I'm really smart(I'm 3 years a head in math-I'm a freshman in Honors Calculus, with a 4.2 GPA), but I think I'm funny, and others do too. The whole school is kind of divided into who thinks I'm cool and who doesn't. Those who like my sarcastic, self deprecating, extraneous vocabulary, sometimes political jokes tend to be normal people, but they are hated by super popular and unpopular people. It's kind of weird. I love to play on the computer and on my Gamecube, but nobody really knows that. And also people think I'm not a nerd becasue I have a girlfriend. But if anyone is a nerd, it's her. (But she's still hot-it's weird, she really loves Star Wars and computers, and flyign model planes, but nobody knows that either).

Oh, and people think it's weird that I love playing squareball(or four-square). It's not just for elementary school kids.

Wow u love yourself, but besides all that stuff..your really smart? well i guess you could call me a nerd (BUT I"D KILL YOU) because i like to find things like this --->a head...so i guess english ain't ur specialty eh?

(Double post)

Oh, and i have a C in english so its not like i'm a super genius :)

Stop...you're under...arrest. Put your hands....in the...air.

(Shatner from a cop show.)

The way he speaks bothers me so much. I can't listen to more than a sentence without getting mad.

I do love myself, if all people did, there would be less suicides. I think it's a positive aspect of my personality, thank you very much. Yes, I'm good at math, but I'm neither good at English or French. Thank you for pointing out a typo. If you like doing that a lot, there's a grammatical error in this passage. A cookie for you if you find it!

being smart doesn't make you a nerd. here is what my definition of nerd is. they must fit all criteria:

1) They must have a 3.5 or better GPA.
2) They must think they are better than everybody else.
3) They must not play any sports(Cross Country DOES count as a sport)
4) They must have a nasal voice.
5) They must wear really thick glasses.

"...neither good at English nor at French." Where's my cookie?

On another note, you may find, as I have, that a quiet megalomania gets you a lot farther than a loud one ;)

Nimoy never brought it up in his biography. He talked like they were pals. Didnt James Doohan die last year?

I guess whether or not you consider yourself a nerd depends on your definition of "nerd." My whole point is your guys are not the stereotypical nerds that tough football players pick up and dump into the garbage. (Come to think of it, most football players I know aren't the stereotypical a**holes either).

Sorry about the hip hop thing if you hate hip hop. My point there was that more of you out there that share the same interest as I do than I originally thought.

Yeah, I'm a nerd, but more akin to the motorhead variety. Have me over for dinner, and I'll privately note which rungs of each chair need regluing. Behind my half-ass banter I'm mapping where I think structural members in the ceiling are, and guessing how the ductwork routes around it.

Should be [fewer] suicides.

Anything you can count, uses fewer.
