SoI Domination Challenge

I always restart if Abbasids control Sur and Akra, but in last attemp:cool::
Spoiler :

plus 2 wonders in Damaskus(SM&ToKiW). Free settler found Duba. Razed Raqqa, capture Tripoli, destroyed Zengids quickly. Abbasids respwan stop my invasion into Iraq(Samarra - permanent revolt). I could not fight alone once with 4 opponents(Abbasids, Rum, Yemen, Fatimids + annoying barbarians). After peace with muslims i kicked PoA from N.Syria and capture Akhaltsikhe, Dvin, Gandzak and Baku; razed Tbilisi and Edessa. Massawa give me 2 resources, 4 in my core and Syria, 1 in Shirvan - 7/8 nice.
Prepare to Mongols invasion, easy clear Great Iran. After Mamluks capitulated i liberated for Baibars all Makurians cities(can't with Aydhab, Massawa and Aksum). Bulbed Great Artist in Herat.
No tech as usually.

Capitulated Bahmanids, Savafids, Georgia and Delhi. Control 25% land without vassals in 1513AD, but not enough population:(
Build only :gold: , :hammers: and -maintenance buildings. No tech. Uzbeks Invasion really distracted from main goal.
Sentimentally not attack my friends (Oman, Sindh and Gujarat)

It is possible to win with most dull dynasty in SoI:D
Settled capital 1S (Ahsenabad, max pop - 16), block to spawn Vijayanagara with caravan, found "Missed name city"(2W Vijayanagara, rename to Hubli, max pop - 13).
Ivory is key for other recources.
Spread Shia in Kolhapur and Manbai after flipp.
Better if this cities in hands of Hindu states don't growth to max population(in this land very few resources - it's easy to receive - :yuck: and  )
Razed Goa after autowar with Portuguese Empire in 1533AD.
Strong Safavids stop my expansion into Persia with hordes of pikemen.
Vassals - Kingdom of Oman and Mughal Empire(capitulated twice:mischief:).

Start with war against Abbasids, hire all mercs, capture all in Mesopotamia. Easy "Greed" quest - control rebel iron in Vaspurakan. Free lancers help me with Hulagu Invasion. Minater of Jam and Kutlug-Timur in Baghdad, all Christian WWs in Mosul, Soltaniyeh in Dimashq, replace capital from Rakka to Hamadan. Found Qom in Jibal province, Bafq(2E Yezd) in Yezd province for Shahanshah title.
Vassals - Karamanids and Ottomans.

I recently reinstalled SoI, too. Was there any major reason to add SVN to v1.0? I cannot remember - it has been a while.

Settled capital 2S, Yezd on camel and Gwadar, carefully clear Iraq. Refuse Seljuks flip, raze Qazvin, Hamadan, Rayy, after it Seljuks capitulated with single Herat. Vassal - Rum.

After discuss about better place for Yezd, i started as Buids for looking it in other province in Great Iran.

Hamadan on the iron is also a really strong city.
Choice of location of the first city is important for further planning.
If i settled Hamadan on iron - found Kermanshah on honey and dont raze Rayy.
Jusos2108, what you think about to start thread "The best city location in SoI"?

edit: i somehow managed to copy all the attached screenshots on top of another one (byzantine "look what happened in SoI"), thats what can be seen on the very top. so dont wonder
only 2 guys on the leaderbord? there should be a little more competition here if you ask me :D
but i gotta say, you guys are making it really tough to do so.
i managed to get really close with a byzantinian one (1135) (i'll upload it later) and was a little faster with ajmer. so here's the ajmer one first:

allthough i really get the point of settling on the horse i still started on the original spot. those horse archers are great but i managed to conquer the first couple of citys with the starting units, some mercs and the first self-produced axemen.
captured multan straight after the city right next to the starting city, dilli was next. as usual i build all necessary wonders in dilli. i didnt manage to get the HoW in time, but SM, Al Azhar and the Kutlug-Timur were doing their job fine.

basically conquered any rising civ in india early on, killed ghazna and vassalized ghori (and kept them alive! :D). tried to settle as much as possible before the mongol spawn. so conquering the barb and indie cities in khwarezmia and some in iran was enough for the 25%.

edit2: unforunately i dont have the screenshot, but the buyids outlived the seljuks and were really strong until they were collapsed by the mongols

i'm not jusos, but what do you think about antiochia 1S? less (or even no?) shared squares with strong kaysun and tarsus and it includes the wheat, citrus and incense while not loosing a ressource (and still being a coastal city next to a river).

Hama better:)
Spoiler :

i wont have a lot of time the next couple of weeks. but i still got the byzantine with a slightly higher score (not sure about that, gotta check) and i guess there will be time for a few other attempts maybe

about hama/antiocheia:
i havent built antiocheia like this very often, just thought about it some days ago. but as they are not that different, i think the fact that antiocheia is on the coast (venetians, genoans) and the fact that it is in "northern syria" and not "syria" should be considered as well. stabilitywise and because hama is still in the annoying ayyubid flipping area

They spawn in 1167AD, flip after 2 turn, Antioh flip to PoA, Jusos2108's result - 1135D, so Hamah location is ideal city spot for Byzantines Domination game.

i tried byzantine again and it worked :woohoo:
since Jusos finished in 1132 just after the zengid spawn, the only way i saw to improve it was to finish before the zengids and to make some use of that. so i was able to settle their spawn area and travel pretty fast right through it (a road through kurdistan allowed me to conquer the seljuks and the abbasids at the same time). settled hamah, kaysun and helleninopolis(2E of Edessa)(Jazira)(the last one just for area control+ land) so i controlled this area really early

i got lucky in the beginning and was able to hire a horse archer which sped up the conquering of the levante and hejaz alot compared to conquering it just with that swordman

tech: botany->cashcropping->long-distance trade->cruciable steel->agriculture->selective breeding (finished about 1030-1040) and i used a great prophet to research religious philosophy + traded some

world wonders: only HoW and SM

vassals: markuria, armenia, georgia, capitulated seljuks and khwarezmia

for some weird reason PoA spawned in transjordan at war with me
