Spoiler :
Jerusalem.jpg

Oh hey, look! Kingdom of Jerusalem is a nation in Sword of Islam. Maybe I'll be lucky, maybe they thought that Jews in the Arabian Peninsula needed a bit of love, so they made up a country for them, maybe this ISN'T the Kingdom of Jerusalem who's first king was that ***hat Baldwin!

Spoiler :
FUUUUUU.jpg

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

Spoiler :
Convert.jpg

Alright, calm down, even though you're playing as an Anti-Semite, you can still change History. I just have to convert to Judaism, and then BAM! Problem solved!

Spoiler :
NOOOO.jpg

YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME

HAH, yeah it's impossible to convert to the minor religions in SOI... Too bad. on an other subject, how many stories are you going to do simultaneously ? 'cause you also have an RFCE story on the way IIRC...

Spoiler :
Reliquary.jpg

Nobody knows what happened to Baldwin the first that fateful day that he and his Crusader Knights captured the city of Jerusalem. His armies were valiant in taking the holy city, and the siege was an absolute success. And yet, the same Baldwin that entered the city of Jerusalem was not the same that left it.
The Christians say that he had fallen to the Devil's temptation with all this new power in his hands.
The Muslims say that the Desert heat was simply too much for his pale european complexion to stand, and that he simply went insane.
The Jews say that it was a Miracle from God.
Nonetheless, upon his entry into the city, Baldwin quickly made a shocking conversion to Judaism. His armies, stunned at the move, made no motion to stop him. Baldwin then proceeded to attempt and convert all the Crusaders who had come with him. Only to fail, the majority still remained Catholic.
Nonetheless, Baldwin instituted freedom of Religion in the City to all, and as much as the Pope would have liked to have stopped the reformed Crusader, he could not. As Baldwin was only one of two allies in the Middle East.

Flip.jpg

Hearing of Baldwin's Conversion, and the possiblility of safety and security under his rule, the Jewish Communities of other cities quickly staged revolutions. Once the Jews assumed control, they contacted Baldwin and gave the cities to him. Soon enough Baldwin I was in control of a trio of powerful cities, Tyre, Jerusalem, and Acre.

Spoiler :
Settlers.jpg

A group of Catholics, discontent with the now ruling Jewish class of the city, decided that now would be the best time to leave Tyre and found their own city. They did not get too far, however, before they were stopped by Baldwin's guards, and brought before the King himself.
"Ho Ho Ho! And what do we have here?" Baldwin chuckled, seeing the rag-tag group enter his throne room.
"We wish to found our own city, we Catholics refuse to live in a city ruled over by Jews!" The leader of the group snarled,
"So long as you pledge alligence to me, I will let you found your own city in the Province of Transjordan." Baldwin offered, the group turned to commune with one another, and decided that if they were that far away they could at least have a bit of autonomy from this insane king.
"Very well, we accept."
"Good! You also cannot harm any Jews who wish to come with you."
"What?!"
"I could kill you in an instant you know." Baldwin reminded the rash settler, and with that, the group sulked off.

Spoiler :
Revolt.jpg

Meanwhile, the Jewish citizens and Chrisitan citizens of Damascus were staging a revolt against their Arab rulers, wishing to join one of the rising Crusader states. Damascus was a productive, populated, and cultured city. A powerful gain for Baldwin or his rival, Bohemond of Antioch.

Spoiler :
Help.jpg

But while Bohemond's armies were in the North, Baldwin already had sent help to liberate the city. Hoping this could be just another advantage over his Norman Counterpart.

Spoiler :
Conquer.jpg

Meanwhile to the South, the grumbling settlers had finally brought Transjordan into the control of Baldwin, and more importantly, revealed a hidden, and relatively unguarded Fatamid settlement. While of a different faith at this point, Baldwin wasn't just going to forget why he was here in the Holy Land.

He was here to kill Arabs and snatch land. And he was all out of Settlers...
So Aqaba was conquered.

Spoiler :
Arrive.jpg

Meanwhile, Damascus fell to Pro-Jerusalem forces within the city before Baldwin even got there. The king of course had to smile, as this obivously showed his popularity over that smelly Viking Bohemond. Still, this had left Baldwin's main army with nothing to do. So Baldwin gave them the order to turn around,

Spoiler :
Fatamids.jpg

Telling them it was time to claim Egypt...

HAH, yeah it's impossible to convert to the minor religions in SOI... Too bad. on an other subject, how many stories are you going to do simultaneously ? 'cause you also have an RFCE story on the way IIRC...

Actually as I said in one of my lasts post in Ad Kalendas Graecas, I played the Venitians and unfortunately I couldn't get a feel for them. I just found them really...Boring. (No offense to Venitians)

I might pick them back up later, but right now I'll only be doing two at a time at the most.

Taking Egypt is a bad idea, because if the Fatimids collapse, the Ayyubids will spawn and flip Egypt together with Syria.:D

I declare this thread officially Mosherfied.

Yes, you'd better attack the Abbassids if you don't want Damascus to flip away.

If Venice were Ulmer territory you could have some fun ;)

Ahhh, Ulm. If the Paradox forums are to be believed, Ulm will use its powers of espionage and under-table deals to take over the earth.

I have just worked out what KoJ means -__________-

The Civ'edistan administration has no chance against the mighty Moderate Socialist Party!

300 million people v. maybe 3 million...

Hmm....

I am not dead.
Retreat.jpg

Just as Baldwin's armies began to approach the poorly defended Fatamid city, there was suddenly a booming voice and a vision.
"BALDWIN. THIS IS GOD. I COMMAND YOU TO NOT FIGHT THE FATAMIDS.
"What?" The Crusader looked mystified, "But almighty lord, they're muslims! Why should I not slaughter them?"
"BECAUSE BY KILLING THEM YOU SHALL UNLEASH AN EVEN GREATER PLAGUE ACROSS JERUSALEM. INSTEAD RETREAT INTO YOUR OWN BORDERS."

Zengid.jpg

As soon as Baldwin re entered his borders, he recieved word that a new emirate to the east was rising. The Zenghids, wanting to reclaim damascus, had already declared war on Jerusalem without a moment's hesitation.
Baldwin stroked his beard, "Is this who you wanted me to crush instead God?"
"NO. NO IT IS NOT. PAY NO HEED TO THEM, THEY WILL AUTO-COLLAPSE SHORTLY.
"What?"
"FORGET IT. ANYWAY, MY MISSION IS ONE OF MORALE CRUSHING. I NEED YOU TO STOP THE MUSLIMS ONCE AND FOR ALL BY PROVING A INFIDEL CAN TAKE THEIR OH-SO-HOLY CITY OF MECCA."
"Conquer Mecca? Oh I like this idea. I'll get right on it god!"

Advanced.jpg

And so Baldwin and his men set off, at this point the man had become so successful in all fields that even the Muslims themselves couldn't help but put Jerusalem second only to the old Abbasid Caliphate. The Kingdom was advanced massively in terms of technology compared to its neighbors, and it used this to rip through the battlefield.

Cath.jpg

Meanwhile Fransiscan Missionaries continued to spread the Kingdom's de jure state religion around the empire. The Pope was becoming so pleased with the advancement of Catholicism over Orthodoxy in the Middle East that he actually began to favor Baldwin. Even him the king himself was not of the faith.

Medina.jpg

Meanwhile the King and his Crusaders had apporached the first city along the long strip of desert. Until now they had only met nomads and small villages, but here it was, out amongst nothing. One of the most Holy Cities in Islam, Medina. Considering God had wanted him to take Mecca, Baldwin was sure Medina would be a nice bonus to that task.

Massacre.jpg

While early on the attack was plagued with Siege Engine failure, the Cavalry managed to pull a stunning success over Medina's Archers. Then Baldwin's ground troops did the rest. Once in the city the Leader gave his men this order.
"Go from house to house, those who are not willing to give up Islam should be killed on sight."
Thousands were slaughtered, the city's once proud population diwndled as if a fire had swept through it. Indeed Mosques were burned and looted. The Islamic countries around Jerusalem could only look on in horror though.
They would never forget Baldwin's actions.

nICO.jpg

But on a happier note, Cyprus was subjugated into the empire.
