Played my first post-patch match and got interesting results. I usually win on Immortal, but because of the warning about the patch, I downed it a notch to Emperor.
Map: /Small/Pangea.
Civ: France
1. No one appears to be interested in building wonders. I got GL at turn 38 quite easily. Many of the early wonders such as Stonehenge, GW, Great Lighthouse, Colossus were up for grabs even at turn 70+. I was 1 in literacy starting turn 50, which is again quite odd. I got all the wonders that I wanted and some that I built just because its there.
2. By turn 150, I am two warfare technologies ahead of all the AIs (me with Rifleman vs Swordsman from the best AI). So, no, the AI is not smarter. Not even close. This is in spite of the fact that I had neither iron nor horses anywhere close. Although, I must add that I did find eldorado.
3. I did not plan on a domination game. It turned out to be a wise choice. Happiness is a real issue here. Puppeting a state kills the happiness by almost 10+. My strategy on happiness was to hover around 0, but that does not appear to be a wise choice anymore. Selling luxuries (single copy) does not appear to be a good idea.
4. There were bugs
1. Completed Deals: RA prices indicate the current costs as opposed to the costs at which they were signed (For example, if the current RAs cost 250, while a completed one was signed at 200, it still shows as 250).
2. Arabia building knights: In my game, I found Arabia building both knights as well as camel archers. I thought that was odd. Is there some unique ability that I missed?
yet another update: THE AI PILLAGED MY IRON! WOHOOOO!!!!
I guess the Arabia knights were gifted by a city state, at least I hope so.
That would be inconsistent wouldn't it? For example, if I puppet Karakoram, I don't get to build Keshiks?

It's good that there is now an upgrade path from the Ironside to the Battleship, but it's rather ruined by the nerf of the Battleship's range to 2... now it's no more than an upgraded Destroyer. A pity, but at least it's cheaper now!
IIRC, mint already gives 2 extra gold, so no difference with the bazaar. I don't even know if you can settle a GP on an oasis, but my bet is you can't. Gold hexes (or even better, riverside gold hexes) are the hexes that give more gold, buildings and improvements aside.
Try it nonetheless (first if you can settle an oasis, if not try an oil resource) and tell us the result, please.
EDIT: sorry if it doesn't make sense, I'm answering a previous post from Brichals.

Sydney Opera House still gives a free policy, in addition to it being earlier in the tech tree and giving +50% culture in the city where it's build.
And a base +4instead of 1
Battleships always had a range of 2.
And ofcourse the Destroyer had a slight nerf of sight, which indirectly favors the battleship.
Thanks for trying. I guessed you couldn't settle a GP on an oasis because you can't build any kind of regular improvement on them with a worker. Now I'm waiting for the results on oil!![]()
