Some Random Sailing Ships

no,it doesnt.
in order to have a bonus,you must add it.since its a new unit,imported only by me,i havent put bonus to ship of the line when attacking the man-o-war.
i dont know if has something to do with "escort sea"or"reserve sea" and all these tasks.

ok if anyone can help me in this ,i ll be greatfull.

i have added this ship (badly needed as i said) and rename it MAN_O_WAR.
I gave it strength 15,more powerfull than any other in wood and sail.also,cause of there were not built many i have put a limitation-only 12 allowd to be build-worldwide(this was an inspiration of a mod that includes tyhe legends).
anyway,when i attacked an enemy country and have a stack combined by 2 ship of the lines(strength 12) and the man-o-war(strength 15 as i said) the ship accepting the first hit is not man-o-war as i reasonable assumed as the strongest,but the ship of the line!
why is this happening?any suggestions?

if i'm understanding your correctly, you want to know why one of the two frigates you had in the stack with your Man 'o War was attacked rather then the stronger Man 'o War?

perhaps it as something to do with the fact that there is a limit on the number of them that can be built.
 
exactly.and the ships in the stack are not frigates,they are ships of the line.
perhaps the limitation is the key for this,but i dont think.
Ships have some abilities like"ESCORT SEA" or "RESERVE SEA" "ATTACK SEA" and some others.My opinion is that there lies the problem.

Arent those just AI behavior modifiers? I dont think they have anything to do with the actual combat mechanics.

i think i know now.
i m not certain,but it could be the "asset" and the "power".
ship of the line has 3 and 6.
However i dont know what these two how are affecting.
is this it that causing this problem?
 
got it.
its the limitation of the world -wide build units-that "protects"these ships as unique from attacks.i will repeat in order to unerstand all that when i added the manowar i put a limitation-only 12 can be built worldwide.
i test it also on another "legend",the bismark.i have added this as well as a legend-only 1 can be built.
The enemy attack me with a stack of 2 battleships (the one was the bismark).then i put out 4 mine battleships to combat him.i attack him,and the fisrt hit took the battleship and not the bismark,(although i have make it stronger than an ordinary battleship).so its clearly that the iq seems to protect somehow units that have this limitation.
i must admit its very strange.
eventually lord drake was right.his opinion was something that i considered nearly impossible,but that was the correct one.
i dont know if this phenomenon impacts also your mod AchillesZero with the legends.

Hey achilleszero you should update the OP and download so that the teamcolored versions are included, and don't require someone to browse through the thread. Also I'd note that you include the buttons, since I know from before when I used to hunt down models, having included buttons saved me a lot of work.

Did you look in the xebec folder?:confused: Its in each unit's folder for every version i made.

Done and done. Downloads have now been updated to include all the team colored versions of both the xebecs and man o wars.

One question though, why does the Viking Longboat have Lateen-rigged sails? Northern Europe used predominantly Square-rigged sails. (The one found of the vanilla galley) The mediterainian used the lateen-rigged sails. I don't remember why they used different style of sails. I think it was because mediterainian ships were involved in large naval battles more often than the northern ones, and such needed better tacking qualities. I'll try and find my source.

I dont know, youll have to ack JustATourist. In the OP it states that it is his viking caravel with some oars I added. I made it a few months ago and was one of my first units, so it was fairly advanced for me back then. Im all for historical accuracy, but I just thought it was a cool looking model. Now that I can do all kinds of voodoo on units youll see my stuff is way more accurate (see the Hms Victory Man O' War)

Besides it helps differentiate it from the vanilla galley. Rather than changing all my ethnic galleys.
 
I have just changed ArtDefines, but seems, that viking longboat steel does not appear in the game?

Do anyone have an idea what could be wrong?
 
"does not appear" means:
a) The unit has not changed, the old is still there
b) the unit is invisible
c) there's a red blob
???

a) Hold down shift during loading the mod, this will clear the cache. That means, the old XML files are at the moment still cached, so your changed artdefines are not loaded, and the boat does not appear.
b) No idea
c) check the pathes and filenames the artdefines again.
 
Yeah, I ment that the old unit is still there, yes.
But seems that holding shift during loading the mod doesn't help.

There's still classic galley.
 
If you have Vista/Win 7: Please check again, if your files really have been changed. If not, re-do the changes, but run your xml editor with admin rights.
If this is not the problem: "Normal galley" is not the asian one, right? Because they have a special one in the ethnic artstiles.
Does it show up in the pedia?
