Personally, as a person who has played C3C for three years, I do not wish our beloved C3C to be gone . Anybody else give me an aye on that?:king:

Why should it be gone? Do you expect someone will come to your house and steal your discs? Besides, there are plenty of much older PC games (Dungeon Master and Ultima come too mind) which still have fan websites and forums.

Yeah... civ III won't go anywhere. People still play civ II and civ I. The realms beyond people had MOO (Master of Orion) tournaments in 2004... the game came out in 1993 and plays on DOS. I would even guess that we could probably get a MOO tournament or two going around here... someone's avatar around here comes from that game.

RBO has a MOO challenge going right now and Moo SG's are hosted here from time to time.

Look at Diablo II, still has massive numbers online.

Thanks VMXA! I'll have to get in on that. Hmm... you've got the top three. Interesting that they didn't care to introduce/re-introduce the ever-present Alkari-Mrrshan feuds. Haha... watch... the yellow star up by the nebula will come out as an ultra rare terran ultra rich planet... and the Klackons will claim it early.

Based on the fact that Civ3Complete is still in the stores and appears to be selling at least as well as Civ4, I suspect that it has a long life yet. You can play Civ3C easily on a laptop. That is a bit harder with Civ4.

Welcome to CFC! Good user name! Israeli I'm guessing. It's always nice to see another Yid around.

Check out some of the player-created scenarios, mods & maps posted in Creation & Customization. There's allot of great stuff there that's kept me playing this game for years.

Why do you think Civ III will disappear?

Civilization 3 has sold ~8 million copies, that puts it onto 101'st place in best selling video games. (info got from Wikipedia) (That list is weird for me tho). If game sells many copies, has interesting background or user has free will (building/managing) then they'll usually last long.

But there are so many great games that have become nearly impossible to find, if I get his point. Maybe none of the stature of C3C (praise be Sid's name). Considering how cheaply a company could produce 1,000 Cds and keep the gems like Gangsters or GG's World at war on the shelf it's almost criminal.

Heck I still have a copy of X-com on my hard drive, but I wouldn't think twice about buying a hard copy of it. Or imperialism (second best game ever BTW) ....why should people resort to piracy when they can just sell these wonderful timeless games and at least break even?

Funny, I saw AC for $19 bucks at a store today.

At least my area (not going to talk 'bout this crappy starting location) if you see good game in store, you are forced to buy it, as if you come back tomorrow, with money, then it is 99% sure that shop sellers say: "We never had any game/program, like this in store." or "We're all out of 'em.". Had to hunt my civ 3 in my great Capital specialized store.

Still remember Resident E 4, that came without serial :@
