With the advent of v1.29f, it turns out Gramphos's C3MT can no longer make flat maps. This is HORRIBLE! My current scenario project absoluely requires this (see link in my sig).

So my question is for anyone from Firaxis: PLEASE tell the 'flat map' (flat world) feature has been implemented into PTW, and if it hasn't, plan on releasing a patch vey soon (re: a day) after PTW is released to fix it!

But seriously, please find a way to get the flat map feature working.

I'm sure you allready know the jury-rig solution but I will post it anyway.

Make a double row of mountains seperated by a row of water. on the East West border of your map.

Wider if you want to stop air traffic.

And redo the entire map... That is the solution I may have to resort to.

Can you not amphibiously land on Mts. or is there some other reason this works like a flat map?

well it's a row of mountains, a row of water and another row of mnts. you can land on one side but you can't get a boat in the water in between and can't buid cities in mountains to make one.

Couldn't you just paradrop beyond the mountains?

Like Pygzilla said, it doesn´t work for air traffic. In that case the water must be wider (7 tiles).

Consider your soul rested :)

Woooooooot! Awesome. :D I missed the flat-map and the ability to pre-set diplomatic settings in the editor first of all. So we will have flat maps! Next goal: Implent the ability to set the diplomatic standings in the editor! :):) That way we can make 'perfect' historic scenarios.

Well since we are doing some "soul resting", can we get any info on other scenario "Necessities" such as:

1. Starting diplomacy
2. Reveal map
3. Events
4. Scenario objectives (cities)
5. Landmarks

Thanks for any feedback....

yes yes yes wotan, in my mind starting diplomacy is just as necessary, if not more necessary than flat map. It makes many historical scenerios pointless (i.e. I've always wanted to be England in WW2, but you can't guarentee Germany declare war, or even that the right people ally). With diplomacy, some scenerios get really annoying, as in Germany and Russia alling in WW2 (I've seen that!).

but didn't the enlgish declare war on Germany? It wasn't the other way around. One question about these war scenarios though. What happens when your government gets war werieness(yes i spelt it wrong, I am pretty sure). It would be pretty silly for Germany to be spreading its boarders and then all of a sudden it goes into civil dissorder everywhere. Same with Britain and Russia. There should be a way to turn WW off. It would make scenarios better in my view.

The war weariness is affected by the government. Civ3 doesn't have a "Fascist" gov built in but you could always add it and and disable war-weariness for it. As for England, the U.S. and the other allies... I'd rethink the War Weariness. Certainly not as prevalent as they were in the vietnam war, but anti-war sentiment was still something that existed. Keep in mind it's also affected by who's in the wrong. War Weariness is less if you're the one attacked, more if you're the aggressor. Keep in mind the Ardennes offensive: Germany was under no illusion that if successful it would win them the war in the west. Rather, one of its intentions was to make the allies bleed for every inch of land dampening their resolve to see it through to the end: IE: to affect "war-weariness" and cause them to negotiate a truce that would secure their western borders and allow them to focus on their Eastern front.

anyways... thank you Speed Bump. My soul is rested now :). Finally, Firaxis buckles down and gives someone what they want . But I agree, I would have preferred diplomacy 10:1.

Saying who declared war on who during ww2 is easy, but as to giving reasons and making someone the "aggressor" is a bit dodgy. Germany provoked the English into declaring war and USA in turn provoked Germany into declaring war.

I think I have heard in numerous places that PTW will include the ability to set diplomacy as part of the new senario creator thing.

Funny I heard that it wont. But who knows. LETS HOPE THAT IT WILL!!!! *begins to pray*
:king:

Yes, Firaxis has stated that PTW will come with a "Full" scenario editor which we can assume includes diplomacy options.

Unless Speedy says something about that, I take that phrase with as many 2 lb bags of salt as I did the things on the LE Tin box. ;)
