What the heck does Marco Polo's Embassy do? There is no information given in my game and it drives me NUTS!!!

Marco Polo's gives you a free embassy with every other Civ.

Are you using a PlayStation version? Just below the title bar there should be "Game... Kingdom...", the last is "Civilopedia". Select "Wonders of the World", then Marco Polo. Once you build it, you get all the civs in your Foreign Advisor screen, even if you have not met them yet, along with their Intel screens. You do NOT get maps or tech, but you can use the knowledge to send emissaries and negotiate. Very powerful early on if you have not made many contacts yet. Also shows what each is researching and how much gold they have; you can influence their research, exchange for techs they have just discovered, and beg/demand tribute/gifts at optimum times.

In my latest game I captured MP's Embassy but I didn't get an embassy with the faraway Yankees. Is this right?

Was it late in the game? MPE expires with communism.

Don't forget that when it expires (IE discovery of Communism) the UN has the same effect Handy if you're the one to discover Communism, though
