Sound problems in SMACX

Hi, I've been playing SMACX for years now and when i got a new computer with top range stuff i put SMACX on my computer, but the problem is that every button i click on in the game or on the main menu i has this loud reveb echo that is so loud. Anyway i can fix this?

Try the following troubleshooting suggestions:

* Check the audio settings under Menu, Game, Audio/Visual Preferences.
* In Alpha Centauri.ini change the EAX and DS3D entries to 0.
* Check your sound card settings.
* Update sound card drivers.
* If all else fails, rename sound(x).dll to (say) sound(x).dl_. This will disable all sound in the game.

Yes - however the SMACX factions music is bugged, in that all the factions play the Alien faction music.

found the problem. just have to set EAX=1 to EAX=0. 3d sound off.

Ok, reason I ask is that on my version of SMAC for Mac I have no in-game music and i don't know why....

Did you check the volume controls?

of course, I only found out when i played an SMAX demo that there was music in that. so i went back and checked that my SMAc had the volume controls set up correctly, but it's been 10 years now almost, and no sound...
