South Dakota Class Battleship- WIP

Well, here's a sneak peek at my newest project, a South Dakota class battleship. There were four of these : South Dakota, Indiana, Alabama, and Massachusetts. This is my first model I'm building from scratch.

Well, I received my South Dakota plastic model the other day, it's a 1/700 scale Hasegawa waterline model. So I've been busy modelling and reworking my superstructure. Here's a preview of the superstructure and upper decks. I'm pretty much building this piece by piece like I would build the plastic model.

jzsf, I have no plans for any at the moment. On the CDG forum I was hit up with the idea from Klyde182 for an Aegis Battleship, but as I told him, I can't make any promises.

We already have a really good Aegis from wyrmshadow and one was made earlier too by someone I forget. We need more soviet/rogue nation like soviet frigates/destroyers and maybe some larger soviet cruisers I forget the names but between the kashin and kirov there are some not made yet, or better yet we need a kirov. Can you make a Kirov? America is covered in every ship class now.

As for this Dakota cruiser, I'm looking forward to the goods. Vingerjoe, I put your last cruiser and battleship in my mod. I like them very much.

I've made the Kashin, Akula's made a Kirov. I don'thave any other soviet modelsbut I do have more USN and Australian ships coming.

As one anal-retentive to another, you need to find a stopping point before you just keep adding and adding and adding and you never stop tweaking your model. For me it looks about 80% done.

The model is done. Now I just have to animate her. Should be all done in a few weeks maximum.
