There are no open succession games at the moment, so I'm starting one!

Civilization: The Aztecs
World Size: Small
Rivals: 5 random
Map type: Pangaea, 4 billion, 70% water, mild.
Variant Rules: We are the 'pointy-stick' researching Aztecs. We never research things ourselves, only taking things from others by force.

- We may never have research above 0%
- We may acquire techs in deals only by giving them techs. We may never give gold, luxuries, resources, etc in order to get techs.
- We may otherwise acquire techs in exchange for renegotiating peace, or as peace concessions. We do not fear other civilizations, so we may never give them anything as part of a peace negotiation or peace concessions, or by demanding them from other civilizations for nothing.
- We are a brutal despot. The only government types we can enter are Despotism, Monarchy, and Communism.
- We do not cave into threats, and will always refuse to be extorted.
- We are brutal, but honorable; we always respect peace treaties for the full 20 turns etc.

This is potentially going to be tough! We may be able to trade some techs early on, but after that we're going to have to get them almost entirely by beating them out of other civs.

May I ask that only players who can play confidently on Emperor and preferably have had a Deity win participate, since it is going to be tough.

I will take 30 turns to start us off, the second player can take their choice of 10 or 20 turns, and then everyone will take 10 turns thereafter.

Normal open succession game rules: the first person to post "I got it" gets to play.

If there are any doubters of how powerful Jaguar warriors are, I suggest they read this thread :)

Our starting location:

-Sirp.;)

(1) 4000BC: Worker goes east toward the cattle, settler goes north.

(2) 3950BC: Tenoch founded, worker moves onto cattle. Start building jag. Science -> 0%. Researching The Wheel. There's a hut to the west of tenoch.

(3) 3900BC: start irrigating

(4) 3850BC: blah.

(5) 3800BC: ...

(6) 3750BC: ...

(7) 3700BC: worker finishes irrigating, starts road. Jag -> Jag. We do NOT go for the hut yet.

(8) 3650BC: a Carthaginian warrior shows up, popping the hut. No barbs. Jag goes back between him and Tenoch. We say hi to Hannibal and trade Alphabet for WC + CB. Tenoch grew this turn so lux -> 10%

(9) 3600BC: ...

(10) 3550BC: ...

(11) 3500BC: Jag -> Barracks. Yes, that's right, we're going to try to sneak in a barracks in our capital this early. We can't build a granary yet, and we don't want a settler yet.

(12) 3450BC: Border expansion.

(13) 3400BC: Hannibal's warrior gets near to Tenoch again, so I recall a jag.

(14) 3350BC: ...

(15) 3300BC: Our Jag going east meets an Egyptian warrior and sights Egyptian borders. We can't quite get Masonry off Cleo for Alphabet, but we do get Bronze Working.

(16) 3250BC: Tenoch Barracks -> Jag. We get maps out of a hut (whenever we pop huts, we should make sure the Jag still has a movement after popping the hut, so he can move onto good defensive terrain or flea if there are barbs).

(17) 3200BC: ...

(18) 3150BC: Tenoch builds Jag -> Jag. After that a settler.

(19) 3100BC: ...

(20) 3050BC: Tenoch Jag -> Settler.

(21) 3000BC: We're actually not the least advanced in the world! The Babylonians are.

(22) 2950BC: The Carthaginians found a city just west of Tenochtitlan. They are considered the most advanced, although Masonry is all we know of that they have up on us. I think they'll be the first ones to feel the pointy stick :)

(23) 2900BC: Our jag in the north finds some nasty barbs in a village.

(24) 2850BC: ...

(25) 2800BC: Tenoch settler -> jag.

(26) 2750BC: ...

(27) 2710BC: Tenoch Jag -> Jag. Settler going toward city site.

(28) 2670BC: ...

(29) 2630BC: Tenoch Jag -> Spear. Good to have *some* defense :) - the spt is also good for it.

(30) 2590BC: Teotihuacan founded. -> worker.

I suggest building one more settler and go and found on the river to the north-west of Tenoch, and then think about going and clobbering Carthage for some techs. We could wait a little longer than that though.

Remember, we're not researching, so having cash to pay for troop maintenance isn't a big deal.

Carthage and Egypt both have Masonry and The Wheel. I'm not sure if there is anything up north, but I do know there's lots of barbs up there.

We'll want at least 8 veteran jags to attack a city with two regular spears defending it. This is enough to give us a 90+% chance of taking the city. It's a fairly safe bet that a non-capital city will not have more than two spears defending it this early on. Ten jags would be preferable though.

The Game

Our empire:

SP7-2590BC.jpg

Egypt is to the east, just past that chokepoint. We probably won't mind her expanding past the choke though, because it'll give us more cities to beat techs out of.

So who's up? :)

-Sirp.

I would love to join you Sirp. I read the SG forum all the time, but havent been able to join a game yet due to timing or the games being 1.14 (I prefer to stay in 1.21). I play on Emperor usually where I pretty much always win, and have won on Deity, though I still lose alot in trying to move up from Emperor.

I am easy going, so I don't get upset over Civ 3 games though I still try hard to prevail in the games of course :). Trying to tackle a game as a team seems like it would be alot of fun, I have wanted to give it a go for awhile now.

Anyways, I can play tonight if I get the go ahead. I am off to the gym, but will check the board when I get home and can play then. Take care.

One note if I do end up in the game, you mention wanting to attack Carthage early with Jags. I would think that they will have Nums up yes? 1 attack vs 3 defense Nums seems rough. I probably wouldn't mess with them until swords or horses are available in decent numbers, unless we have such a flood of Jags as to overwhelm them.

PzVG: it's an "open" game, so you don't have to join. Just be the first to say "I got it" after someone else has played, and you can take it and play 10 turns, and post the save here.

At the moment Shillen is playing; if you're the first to post "I got it" after him, then you can play 10 turns.

As for jags vs numids, they'll do fine. We'll want 10-12 instead of 8-10 like we'd have against spears, but they won't be too much of a problem. Remember they cost Carthage more to buy as well, so they won't have as many.

If we strike them soon, they may have only one Numid in their city, which will be a piece of cake.

Also, we have to attack *someone* early to get the techs in the first place, otherwise we'll never get to swords or horses, and I'm not sure we're going to be able to beat everything we want just out of Egypt.

We don't want to get IW with iron hooked up too early either, because jags are *cool*

-Sirp.

2550 BC (1): Jag pops empty hut in NW.

2510 BC (2): Tenoch spear->settler.

2470 BC (3): Tenoch grows to 5, lux up to 20%. Cleo has iron working now.

2430 BC (4): Nothing

2390 BC (5): Nothing

IT: Barb warrior appears from SE of Tenoch.

2350 BC (6): Tenoch settler->jag. Lux – 10%. Wake a couple jags in Tenoch to deal with a barb camp. Jag in NW finds stack of 2 barb warriors on grassland after first move, attacks and wins but only has 1hp left with second barb remaining.

IT: Good, barb wanders into jungle instead of attacking our redlined jag.

2310 BC (7): Teot worker->barracks. Jag disperses barb camp SE of Tenoch for 25g. Other jag attacks barb on hill but retreats without doing any damage.

IT: Another barb warrior appears to SW of Tenoch.

2270 BC (8): Tenoch jag->jag. Jag attacks barb warrior and wins with 2 hp left. Tenoch size 4, lux 20%. Egypt learned Pottery.

2230 BC (9): Our vet jag loses to conscript barb warrior blah. Ttal founded on river NW of Tenoch, barb sighted north of it. Set to build barracks. Lux – 10%: mp back in Tenoch. Carthage learned iron working.

2190 BC (10): Tenoch jag->worker

Save

Good turn Shillen.

I'm not sure if we want to build a rax in Teot. It is a high-food location, so I suggest we just go for workers and settlers there.

Likewise, I'm not sure if we want a worker in Tenoch: we want it to grow, hopefully big enough to get us 10 shields and thus a jag every turn. It should be able to do this at size 6 or higher. We will need higher lux, but with no research burden, this won't be a problem, and the higher commerce of the city will make up for it anyway.

Let's go for Utica soon. Real soon. If we can get a Great Leader in a war with Carthage, we'll definitely want the Pyramids. Otherwise we'll want to extort pottery off someone at some point so we can actually build granaries.

So whose up next? :)

-Sirp.

Didn't get enough war in Epic 27 eh Sirp?? :p

Well this one isn't going to be nearly as war-intensive as an Always War game, Matt, but as a compulsive builder, I do like to play with restrictions that force me into lots of war sometimes :)

But, I like both sides of the coin.

Epic 24 (http://www.realmsbeyond.net/civ/epic24.html) was lots of fun, and it was an anti-always war game (no meaningful war at all!)

In fact, you should have a try of that, it's a fun challenge, and is a game that can be knocked over in a single sitting (3 hours if you're quick, I think it took me around 5).

You don't want to play in this one though? You'd be welcome! :)

-Sirp.

Ok I've looked at the save (I didn't before), and some more comments:

- Teotihuacan is working a forest when it could be working a bonus grassland. The extra shield from the forest is lost to corruption anyhow, so this should be switched to the grassland
- I definitely recommend switching Teot -> worker and Tenoch -> Jag. We need lots more jags real soon and Tenoch is the place to do it. 10 turns will give us 5 more jags, for a total of 9 vets if we don't lose any, and perhaps enough to mount an attack on the Carthaginians. We also want to get Tenoch up to the magical 10 shields per turn, and since it's getting 8 at the moment it needs another 3 (the tenth shield will be lost to waste). That means we need it to grow twice and get to size six. Building a worker in Tenoch will slow this down by 5 turns and we don't want that!

- we might want to whip out a temple in Teotihuacan sometime soon. Getting those bonus grasslands in range will be great. That can *probably* make it to being a settler-every-4-turns city.

- I think we want to avoid sucking any population out of Tenochtitlan until it's size 7, or close to size 7. No that's not very food-efficient, but food-efficiency isn't going to be that important in this game, we're going to get lots of our cities by taking them off others by force!

So whose up next? PzVG, are you still around? :)

-Sirp.

The only changes I made to builds before I started was swapping Tenoch from worker to spear (it had 8 shields in the box already, so the spear will be less wasteful. I will try to get to 10 spt in the capital during my turn. I also swapped Teot from barracks to worker. I let the barracks in Tlat continue, vet Jags are alot easier to work with, so the delay in getting them online will be worth it I think. I did change Tenoch's tile assignments to work the BG, which is also in the process of being mined now.

pre turns diplo check shows Cleo with Pottery, Masonry, IW, and the wheel. Carthage lacks Pottery from the above list.

IBT: Jag defends successfully vs barb N of Leptis Magna.

(1) 2150 BC : Jag kills a barb SW of Tenoch, 2 Jags move toward barb camp there.

IBT: Jag N of Leptis wins another duel.

(2) 2110 BC: lose 1 Jag to barb camp SW of Tenoch. 2nd kills off the camp for 25g.

IBT: Barb suicides on Tlat's spear. Carthage war/settler pair appears due W of Tencoh.

(3) 2070 BC: Tenoch: spear > jag
Teot: worker > settler

Move workers around. Carthage now has Pottery.

(4) 2030 BC: lux to 20% as Tenoch grows to size 5, pulling 9 spt with 1 waste as Sirp pointed out. No moves of note.

IBT: Egypt war appears near Teot.

(5) 1990 BC: Tenoch: jag > jag

IBT: Carthage starts the Oracle (they have Mysticism now).

(6) 1950 BC: The Carthage war/settler pair looks to be ready to plop down right on our borders. We are planning to strike soon anyways, and this pair with only one warrior is ripe for the taking. So, I declare war and attack. We could use the workers as well. We get an elite Jag out of it too, with no loss.

We get an early GA. Not much you can do about that if you are planning a Jag war I guess. This does put Tenoch at the 1 jag per turn level easily, so we should be able to build up a pile of them and take it to them.

I have Tenoch switch to build one last spear as it has 9 shields in the box and is putting out 11 spt.

(7) 1910 BC: Tenoch: spear > jag. Spear heads toward Teot.

IBT: Carthage warriors approach Tlat, 4 of them.

(8) 1870 BC: Tlat: barracks > jag
Tenoch: jag > jag

Tlat is in no danger, maybe we will luck into a leader.

IBT: Tlat spear defends successfully vs one attacking warrior. Barb appears SE of Tenoch.

(9) 1830 BC: Tenoch: jag > jag. Reposition jags a bit.

IBT: Spear in Tlat wins twice, goes to elite. Jag kills attacking barb SE of Tenoch.

(10) 1790 BC: Tenoch: jag > jag. Take a shot with elite jag vs Carth warrior near Tlat. Win but no leader.

We have about 8 or so free jags right now, with more on the way. The settler for our 4th town is almost finished up. SE of the capital on the hill to grab that whale looked like a good spot to me for the next town. The next player should be able to pump jags and lauch a good attack on Carthage. They lost 5 warriors and a settler during my 10, taking none of our guys with them.

Slipping a cheap temple in when we can afford it will help us to expand our borders as well as get us some culture for the long run.

Sorry about messing up the name of the save (I saved it twice and still got it wrong). I had not used the upload feature before, next time I'll know what I'm doing (hopefully).

The save

Charaztec wrests control of the government at the start of the Golden Age!

His first thought was to buy the wheel, but his policy advisors
remind him that POINTY STICK(TM) is the way to go for knowledge!!
It seems we're defiant anti-scientists, but not nationalists. This
will be a wild one indeed!

[0] -1790 : Minor citizen tweaking. As we're in a Golden Age, AND a
war, *and* Golden 5spt output, I change Teo from settler to barracks,
and will crank out a jag every other turn from there. One jag is moved from
our capital to the west, where he discovers Utica, guarded by one reg nume.

IBT A carthage archer and warrior come into view.

[1] -1750: Our jags move onto a hill to intercept. IBT they run away, but not fast
enough.

[2] -1725: The small Carthage squad seems to be heading toward Utica to defend it.
They cause two retreats, but we kill both and lose none. Even better, Utica's
defender is alone and so gripped with fear that a single Jag razes the city!
:hammer: (Too bad it wasn't bigger for a capture. Still, this should give us a
great pointy-stick researching opportunity, and will let us 'oscillate' to hit
Egypt next. A jag runs past Utica to see what's there and finds... Carthage.
Ugh! It's on a hill, reg Nume defender (probably more) and frontal assault is
across a river. We'll need to come from behind via the mountains.

[3] -1700: Moving up the fresh ones, moving back the hurt.
[4] -1675: Our glorious capital hits size 7, and 15spt in the GA. It takes a
brief pause for a temple in two turns before resuming jag production.
Teo grows to size 4, and diverts briefly to a temple. A barb camp is defeated
west of the capital for 25g. A jag runs PAST Carthage and snips the road
to 3 ivory :P

IBT Cleo *DARES* to demand tribute from the mighty Aztecs in a Golden Age?!?!
Is she daft!! Charaztec chortles, you have made this insane demand against the
wrong leader, wench! (His advisors point out that it's national policy never
to pay ransom payments, so it's a non-issue, but still, he feels buff)

Tribute denied. Egyptians declare war. Carthaginians beg for mercy. Ya right.
Ok, speak your peace. You'll give what? Pottery. Mysticism? The Wheel? Masonry?
All the above? All the above plus Iron Working?! AND all your gold?!? Sheeeeeesh.
Talk about good timing for you, bad timing for Cleo. The pointy stick nets
FIVE techs. Perhaps my moving FOUR jags RIGHT NEXT to Carthage was a factor?! :groucho:

(Hannibal thought to himself.... :help: )

We take peace, for now, for 20 turns - don't worry, we'll be back for more!
Please let us not accidently have iron hooked up!!? Quickly... check resource box.
We have horses online and NOT iron, woo! There is iron nearby, NW of
Tlatelolco. In fact, an expansion will get it. Also snagging this same iron would
be an *outstanding* spot to settle, 3 squares from this city, on a river, with that
iron and TWO cows in range. Three Bonus grass to boot! No rush, *we* will take that
spot, by settlement or force, at a time of our choosing, after the GA.
The second iron is in some mountains, just a bit further north. Carthage has no
iron, no horses. They're *so* toast. One of our horses is between Teno and Tlat,
with an extra pair just outside expansion range of our capital.

[5] -1650: The Great Green Machine, a carpet of death and destruction, shifts swiftly
South. There are a few Egyptian warrior 'scouts' scattered about, and first we
hunt them down. We can't reach them, but take high ground next to them.

Tlat is one shield short of reaching it's goal this round, so swaps to temple to
pull the iron within our realm. (NOT that we want to hook it up any time soon!!!)

IBT Some arrogant man from Korea introduces himself and offers Writing for 110g.
I tell him that when we have need of writing we will come and EXTRACT it from
his scientists with a pointy stick! He is most displeased, and is annoyed with us.
He has contact with Zulus (finally, a civ we can respect) and the Babylonians.
What need have we for contact? We're not researchers, we're despots!

The two silly Egyptian warriors come against our high ground jags and lose.

[6] -1625: We reach a third yellow warrior and mow him down.

[7] -1600: With Teno now at 15spt, I hate to waste such a chunk of its production,
so I go after the prize... Pyramids. We might not make it, but stand a good
chance of picking up an alternate wonder, maybe even Great Library!? (That
wasn't against the rules, was it Sirp?!) Thus mid-war, Charaztec shows utter
disdain for his foes, not even bothering to build ANY war units for several
turns. (We're *10* over our allotment, btw, due to the lack of cities. Those
can come soon enough, I keep reminding myself. The Pyramids are an investment
in their future, though yet unbuilt!)

Our first loss (sniff), jag vs yellow warrior in the woods.

[8] -1575: He's hurt though, and we now finish him off, promoting to elite!
Much movement of troops toward the chokepoint now.

IBT Our capital borders expand, snagging a second horse. A yellow warr sees a
Jag at his rear and knows he can't outrun him. So he turns to attack. But now
*we're* in the forest, and we win.

[9] -1550: I pull a very unusual move here, merging one native and one Carthage
worker into our capital! That cuts down ETA to Pyramids to just 20 turns (though
it might still be too late, if any foe has a good city working on it.) This continues
the theme of 'invest now for a future later.' Yes we need workers, several in fact,
but if those are skimmed off Pyramid-enhance expansion cities after this next
war is won, it will far exceed the cost. Why a Carthage worker? Charazteca is a
despot, but not a prejudiced one. (Plus, I have to emphacize to myself this isn't
a Nationalist game :P ) That leaves us two native workers near Teo, and one captured
worker near Tlat.

Two advance scouts end up next to Thebes this turn. There are five good jags right
behind them at the choke forest, and another five just back. You might want to let
them all hook up, then go sack Thebes in one big turn. We've only whacked a few
warriors, but our score vs Egypt has shot up already in the histogram. I hope I
haven't put our scouts at risk. Though if Egypt does NOT attack a defense 1 unit,
they're so chicken we should rename Thebes Azua-Chicken-Tzil-Thbes.
One more goodie... due to my preoccupation with temples, we're the culture leader :)

To even the years-count and let others have some fun, I'll stop one turn short.
(In creating this img, I see I left a guy fortified in the forest up north! Wake 'em)

Good luck to our next leader, whoever that may be...

Great turn from Charaztec :hammer: (my money was on Charizuma though! :) )

This game is turning out to be lots of fun, if I do say so myself :) So much fun that I'm going to take another 10 turns now!

Oh and there are no rules regarding the Great Library, although the stylish thing to do would be to capture it from someone else!

And indeed, we are defiant, but not nationalists. Just brutal despots. Having foreigners work in our cities is fine, as long as they work damn hard! In fact, making these captured Carthaginians build us the Pyramids is a brilliant move by Charaztec.

We're not anti-scientists though. We LIKE scientists, just as long as they're working for other civilizations that submit to us :)

Remember that after 20 turns of peace with Carthage, we need not declare war on them again to get more techs, we can simply renegotiate peace, and try to extract more techs like that.

EDIT: Oh, and we're the only ones working on the Pyramids that we know of! Three others are working on the Oracle though, so there could be a cascade, but we definitely have a good chance of getting it.

When we get writing, establish embassies, so then we can investigate cities before we tell people of our intent to bash their heads in.

-Sirp.

Sirp came to power, continuing the works of Charaztec, in construction of the Great Pyramids. Hmmm...our Golden age is going to run out half way through the 20 turns, meaning it'll probably end up taking 25+. It would be *very* good to get the Pyramids. Of course, there is always the chance of a Great Leader :)

1525BC (1): Teotihuacan is now producing 8spt. We should either get it up to 10spt, or bleed off some population into workers. I decide to try to get it up to 10spt. That should be possible within 5 turns.

Our jags outside of Thebes pillage the road there and then retreat onto a spot two spaces from Thebes where our Jaguar armies can mass for an attack. We may want the road later, but better to hinder the Egyptian chances of a counter-attack.

1500BC (2): Tlatelolco builds its temple and can now build a jag every other turn. Our troops continue to mass for the attack on Thebes. The cowardly Egyptians still haven't shown their faces!

1475BC (3): Some barbarians come from the north to harass us, there is a barbarian encampment nearby.

We can attack the cowards in Thebes this turn with 10 jags, or we can wait until next turn and have 13. We shall wait one more turn.

1450BC (4): Our jaguar warriors are in position and the attack is launched!
Firstly a jag does 1 damage to a regular spear before having to retreat.
Then a jag dies after doing 1 damage to a reg spear.
The same result again. But, they only have 3 regular spears in there!
A vet jag retreats without doing any damage.
Another jag dies after doing one damage.
Another jag retreats without doing any damage.
Finally we get our first kill of the battle!
A jag dies after doing one damage, but the spear promotes :(
A veteran jag gets another kill!
There is a redlined spear left! Despot Sirp orders an elite to be sent in. The elite wins, and the city is captured.

That battle may have looked gruelling, but note: we killed 3 spearmen and only lost 4 jags!

The Egyptians have very little culture around. In fact, Thebes is under no cultural pressure! They have cities to the north, east, and south, all unexpanded borders.

1425BC (5): The resistance ends in Thebes already! An Egyptian worker tried to sneak past our vigilant Jaguars. He is captured and set to work on a great road westward to connect our new city to the rest of Azteca. Our troops mass inside Thebes to rest, before they work on conquering some more of Egypt.

Cowardly Cleopatra will talk to us now. Her only invention of interest is Writing, and she will give that up for peace. She would even give us two of her cities for peace! She really is a coward! It is unfortunate she doesn't have more to extort.

1400BC (6): I'm not sure if we want to pull back and smack Carthage around some more next, or if we want to keep going East. We find a Babylonian Warrior who is north of our land. Huh? There are no civilizations up there! We've discovered all the northlands, where did he come from? Anyhow, he doesn't have any technologies we don't have.

1375BC (7): Teotihuacan is optimized to build a jag every turn. It isn't growing fast though, and our golden age will be over soon anyhow.

Looking through his throne room one day, Emperor Sirp found the writings of the great Charaztec son of PcVG. Charaztec had foretold that Thebes should be renamed to Azua-Chicken-Tzi-Thbes, and Sirp ordered that such a renaming should be taken place immediately to show the Egyptian people their full humiliation.

The forces in Thebes are resting still.

1350BC (8): Our Golden Age comes to an end, and Teotihuacan riots because of it. Time for the Pyramids goes up to 15 turns.

Our forces in Chicken City are ready for action. Going west, we find a spearman guarding a settler. Allowing the settler to settle before attacking will make Cleopatra more submissive to us, but she is already very submissive, and we want the workers for our Great Road West!

We attack them, and our first jaguar does a little too well, redlining the spearman and thus having to fight to the death; he dies, and the spearman promotes. A second jaguar finishes the job and we have two slave workers.

Bah, the city to the east is size 1 Heliopolis, which Cleopatra would give us anyway for a peace treaty. We don't want to raze her cities, we want to take them for ourselves! To the south is size 2 Memphis, her new capital. We'll attack that instead.

1325BC (9): Cleo didn't use the whip in Memphis! We only have 8 jags in position to attack (stupid forest!) but we do anyhow.

The city falls, and only one jaguar dies in killing three spear defenders. Jaguars rule! :hammer:

Cleopatra moves her capital to Heliopolis, one of her 'cheap' cities she was willing to part with for peace. She is now 'almost' willing to give us two cities, Writing, and Contact with the Zulu for peace. She'll do it without Contact with the Zulu. Hmm...tempting, but I will leave it up to the next ruler to decide.

We really need workers now, so I change Teotihuacan from Jag -> worker. The worker can build some mines near Teotihuacan to get it more shields so it can get a jag in two turns even at size 5, meaning it will be able to churn out workers in between jags.

1300BC (10): Whoa! We quake in our shoes as Cleo sends her counter-attack force at the Chicken city. She has a warrior! Yes one whole warrior! Run for the hills!

In other news, Tenoch grows to size 10. The lux slider has to go up two notches to keep the people happy. Pyramids due in 13 turns.

That man from Korea seems to know how to draw maps, since he can sell us his maps. We will pay him money for them but only to show us where he lives so we can go and make him show us how to draw maps (yes we can buy things other than techs from other civs)

The Babylonians *are* to our north it turns out, in an isolated position. Korea is just past Egypt. The Koreans seem the most advanced, so going and beating that rude man's head in until he tells us how to make maps might be a good idea. We will probably need to send some more jags east though.

Good luck to the next player, whoever it may be!

-Sirp.

The Game

oh and 5 sg turns in 12 hours? That has to be some kind of record right? :)

Good luck to you. Looks like great fun :)

Would have been a 'got it', but I lack the necessary experience. :(

Next time I will be more experienced:)

Charaztec had foretold that Thebes should be renamed to Azua-Chicken-Tzi-Thbes, and Sirp ordered that such a renaming should be taken place immediately to show the Egyptian people their full humiliation.

Be careful what you wish for, eh? For it might come true!

Wow, Cleo is crumpling like a cheap suit!?! Go Green Machine! Don't let Cleo off the hook too early (ie with more than one or at most two cities). With our large unit upkeep costs, whenever we happen to be done with this war, an upcoming leader will need to do one of the following:
- Aggressive settling, increasing our troop allowance
- Hit the NEXT civ in line, bonk on the noggin'. If we can cripple all civs on our 'continent' we can mop them up truly 'at leisure'. Of course, if we're on a pangaea, that will be rough. Although the sheer pleasure of crippling every civ on the planet with the "Green Machine" of jags would make this an absolute poster child game for the effectiveness of oscillating Jag Rush :hammer:

Coming through with the Pyramids favors the first approach, having to capture the Pyramids and/or other nice wonders like Great Library (or if nearby, Oracle, etc.), favors the second.

Keep in mind that our treasury is shooting higher! With no research no tech to buy, ever, we're in the highly enviable situation of not only having a 30 jag army at some point, but having the cash to actually upgrade them en masse to swords for a truly devastating army. Yet not too early on the iron, we love our jags! :love2:

Nice turn to Sirp, and Good luck to whomever may go next...

Well Supreme Emperor Sirp was thinking of invoking a policy which involved renaming all Egyptian cities to names that involved 'chicken', but he decided not to go that far :)

We'll want at least Heliopolis, since it's on the way to the Koreans! Unfortunately her cities are *all* size 1, with no culture, so we can't capture them!

We can probably get two cities off Cleo for peace concessions, which will instantly give us an extra 8gpt, this will help immensely.

However, there is lots of open land, and we can settle it nicely. Although I have enjoyed playing as a "three city civ with captured colonies" :)

Yup, the Koreans are next in line. If we can cripple them, then there are only the Zulu and the Babylonians who have not felt our wrath. I've never known the Zulu to be big techmongers :) It might have been cool if I had set all the other civs to be Scientific - we would be uneducated brutes in a mass of genius scientists.

We *are* on a pangaea. This is a small map, with just five rival civs. We've had a go at 2 of our 5 rivals already, Korea is up next, and Shaka's his own worst enemy anyhow.

Sorry I should have posted a screenie :) We know where everyone breeds now.

I'm liking the idea of going after everyone with jags! We should be able to do it before they get pikes. I'm almost certain that we do NOT want to hook up our iron or upgrade jags to swords. They are way better in their current nimble state, especially since our road network is a little underdeveloped :)

Now who wants to step into the fray next? :)

-Sirp.
