I plan to buy MOO3 as almost as soon as it comes out, and would love to have a forum here at CFC devoted to it. If you like, TF, I will moderate such a forum.
No way. There is such a thing as a forum with too many active users. If people do not like this site due to lack of specific diversity (ie. existance of specific forums for specific games) then let them go elsewhere.
If someone finds a good site for MOO or RON then by all means tell the rest of us! That way you can still discuss those games with CFC personalities without clogging up CFC
I doubt we would attract too many new users if we had a MOO3 forum, as it would not really be advertised, or come up in most searches. It would basically be a place where people who are already Civfanatics can go to discuss that game.
Even the name makes you think of Civ games. Apolyton on the other hand.... (well, it DOES have "From the Ultimate Civ2 Site and the First Greek Civ Site..." in it's logo (still).
Apolyton has coverage of other games, I think that if people want coverage they should go there. I like this site a lot because it's focus on Civ content and the mass of quality Civ material. It's great to be able to look up information here.
Ultimately, it's TF's call and what's his overall vision and longterm planning for his website...
Personally, I don't see anything wrong with diversifying into related games, if it's done well. If we can attract a bigger crowd, we'll have more 'clout'.
Like K-D, I see nothing wrong with diversifying into other games, as long as it's done right, and TF nor anyone else gets overloaded. If diversifying would attract more users, which would help this site out, then what's wrong with that? However, I like the way this site has a "Civ feel," and I think it would be best if other games were kept as far away from the Civ section as possible. BTW, I personally will probably never play MOO3 or RON.
