I have two gig ram comp seem to be fine but lags when i play on huge or large maps during the late game. is this because my specs are to low for civ 5? what specs are needed for it not to lag.

only managing 20ish turns in three hours was not nice.

Stick to dual or small maps and you should be fine... 2 Gb is not enough for huge maps, you need at least 4, and 6 is better.

It depends a lot on what OS you're using and how well you make sure you close other applications that could be using up memory, but generally speaking 2GB is considered below par by today's standards. Playing (especially!) huge, large, or even probably standard maps are going to be difficult with only 2GB.

So I guess I agree with Quasar.

Also, your graphics card and/or CPU could be an issue if your game is lagging. Loosely speaking, poor frame rates or sluggish map scrolling would likely have a lot to do with your graphics card, while excessive turn times would be more related to your CPU.

As a general rule it seems the main thing that can hold you back from smooth gameplay is your graphics card. If you have an integrated graphics card, good luck, but from the fact that you can run the game at all it seems like you're ok.

These might help you too.

Ok, Macs are better, per Gb, than Windows PCs, because the OS takes up a lot less room, so there's more bytes to use for processing. So you'll do better than a Windows machine with 2Gb (which is why you can run standard size maps without any problems).

What graphics card have you got, because that can hold you up too... fortunately, you can get a quite good one relatively cheap these days. A good one would be over the recommended specs above. However, that really depends on how desperate you are to play on a huge map!
