Hey all - please help me!

About 90% of the time when I start the game, the splash screen pops up and just hangs - the bar does not proceed within the splash. This screen just hangs for several minutes then eventually crashes back to the desktop with an error message.

Any tips?

Thanks for the advice - sadly it didn't solve the issue. I have installed the Civ patch as well as the latest drivers, yet the game still hangs up at the initial splash screen.

I have disabled McAfee and have no other programs are running in the background (intentionally, at least). The game just sits at the initial splash screen (not even at one of the pieces of the blue progress bar - before it even gets to that point). Every once in awhile it does load fine, but I cannot determine what is different. Also, I can occasionally hit the debug choice in the error message and go from there, but I cannot play mods then because it crashes on the reload.

I am so flustered becasue I enjoy playing when I can, but that is so infrequent that I have given up trying due to the aggrivation!

Do you think it is significant, though, that Dell is not listed as a relevant manufacturer?

Thanks for the help! It is very much appreciated!!!!!

I downloaded instead the driver update from the Dell site. This, though, did not solve the issue.

By the way - here is the error text file. Any good leads here?

re Dell driver - nice one well done

This one is bugging me - with that card you should eat this game no bother. There has to be a memory clash / driver clash somewhere, we have had very very few reports of hassles with that card.

Work through this one, its a fair bit of work, but it will ensure you have a clean installation and reduce video load.

If still issues, post again with symptoms, and we can try some ini changes that affect graphics.

However if your getting an error as per that file, should really try and work out what that one is first - might save some work. neon is good at tracking strange errors - hopefully he will spot this and pick the error up.

Dont give up - we'll nail this sucker .....:D

The weird thing is that I don't have issues with Call of Duty 2 or Age of Empires III. I can't imagine this is a hardware issue - right?
