It was just mentioned, perhaps facetiously, in a different thread that any civilized country shouldn't have more than 100M inhabitants.

In terms of being able to better respond to the needs of its constituents, I think there is a lot of merit to that premise when applied to the US. It would also allow various new countries to take completely different approaches on basic issues like the death penalty, abortion, personal freedom, liberty, spying on its citizens, recreational drugs, public healthcare, and just about any other issue which largely polarizes people these days.

It might even largely eliminate the military threat the last superpower is constantly causing to international peace and harmony, since the size of the respective militaries would be much more limted due to lack of resources. They would also likely require widescale cooperation with other countries to be effective, instead of merely providing the facade of international cooperation to engage in imperialism.

It might even create enough impetus for an American Union to form, which would greatly benefit not-as-developed countries as it has in Europe. It would also help to ensure that all members had basic human rights, and that there would likely be no more military coups or death squads.

Thoughts?

If similar was done to other large countries such as China and India, meaning the balance of power was maintained, I wouldn't mind being partitioned.

US military power is the source of peace and stability. After it crushes all the dictatorships (especially muslim ones), then we can start really having peace.

Thinking that dismantling the US would solve world problems is stupid, at best.

Do you believe that is going to happen?

yeah

also this would mean that the Red States wouldn't be able to use the massive amount of tax money from California to wage wars

That would make America weaker.
I don't see the benifits for Americans really...

Americans have never valued our "benefits" by our military power. If we wanted to be powerful, we wouldn't have made our own country.
I for one, who'd be delighted with the idea, though 4 is rather to few divisions.

I support dividing the US into 2 parts:

This world will only ever truly have peace when all men are free. Personally, I REFUSE world peace until then. I will NOT have world peace while men suffer under tyranny.

No, no no, you think I asked "would you like that to happen?", when I actually asked "do you believe that will happen?". I'm not entirely surprised, but please answer the questions I asked, not the one you thought I asked.

I answered your question. You are simply too beligerant and simple to accept that.

Don't talk down to me, boy.

Actually, no you didn't. He asked if you believed that would happen, you haven't answered that question.

Of course I think it will happen.

I think that is clear.

Stop being so pedantic.

Would I support a theory that I think is not possible?!

Obviously, people do not support theories they find impossible.

Will the US crush the dictatorships alone? No. Again, try to think a little.

Don't talk down to me, boy.

No, you didn't answer my question. I'll rephrase it, seeing as it's causing you trouble in its present form.

Your desires, ideologies and hopes aside, do you believe that the United states of America will, at some time in the future, crush all the dictatorships?

Yes or no will do, there is literally no need for any answer other than either of them, I already know what you wish would happen.

Uh...huh...and what makes you think that all other systems other then our own, which have functioned viably since the dawn of human existence, will suddenly disappear?

It will happen by a combination of diplomacy and war.

You don't know what countries are dictatorships? I'm sure there are a couple we don't agree on but you can figure that list by yourself.

I'd like to hear which ones you think are. And also, please explain how each one should be dealt with and why. I'm genuinely interested on this.

Hopefully Canada will annexx a large section at the exact same time we annex Canada making BE 2.0.
