Spring Patch Info

28 degrees ... oh boy don't move to Australia :)

Let me guess, you'd need to put on a jacket if it dropped to 28 :)

I was in Sydney last June with my wife and 4 year old. The three of us went shopping at the outdoor market in shirtsleeves. The merchants were sporting overcoats, scarves and toques. I kept thinking "This is how they survive their summers. By shedding all capacity to produce their own heat."

28 degrees ... oh boy don't move to Australia :)

I so miss Australia. I started to play Civ like fanatically in Australia when I finished working there and stayed on a bit for the Aussie summer. Going to the beach/surf then playing Civ in the evenings = Heaven :D

Yes, English people start complaining about the heat at about 28*. TBH it wasn't such a gr8 idea for these people to emigrate down under. The sun bakes their skin. Melanoma is the leading cause of death by cancer and they are horrific. Like at 23 you can die (if you're white)
Then there's also macular degeneration (blindness) from having light coloured pupils. Soz. But even I got sunburnt in Australia (the first time ever in my life) on the Gold Coast (where they just had the Commonwealth games)

I digress...where is our patch?! :p

It gets relatively hot here for the Northeast US (Pittsburgh) but "fortunately" it's cloudy all the time. I'd say it averages about 80/26 in the summer but 90 or higher isn't unusual.

Though I'm having doubts about this year. We never got the deep freeze but it hasn't warmed up either. We're expecting snow again tomorrow.

Another thing to take notice of; they aren't taking the "Release it on time but with bugs. We can fix it in the next patch." approach. They released last summer's patch with some bad bugs knowing they could fix them in the autumn. This might imply that they are planning on not having any more patches for a long time, like more than a quarter.

I don't think your description of summer patch approach is correct.

1. Firaxis resources were stretched thin by working on patch, dlc and expansion at the same time.
2. The patch needed to be released together with Nubia, so they didn't have much time to polish it.

So, I doubt firaxis thought about fixing bugs at autumn, they were just unsble to do snything there.

I always get average/cool summers and average/mild winters... its gray, raining and windy. Looking forward to some global warming.

why do you guys want to live in these hell climates?

it should never be above 65F/18C, ever
As someone with the misfortune to live in a horrific place that rarely gets that cool even in winter...I wholeheartedly agree.

Whereas around here, many of our health issues arise from a lack of vitamin D, even for those of us with pasty white skin.

My son told me yesterday that maybe we shouldn't be putting sunscreen on him because he thought it might be preventing his skin from absorbing the sunshine it needs to produce vitamin D, which in fact the sunscreen does. I was thinking "they teach kids that in kindergarten now?"

And yeah, since we're reduced to discussing relative climate and optimal melatonin levels ... where is our patch?!

I hope there are either two more expansions, or another expansion and then some serious dlc.

What’s in the game now is awesome, but there are big gaps and lots of polish needed. I can’t see one more expansion covering everything.

On that note, I do really feel like the last expansion was just beta for what we’re eventually going to get. I’m not surprised either - darks ages and loyalty had a lot of potential to stuff the game. I think releasing a cut down version of these things, and then guaging how they play out, was probably prudent.

Climate change is messing up the weather.

On that note, they need to add climate change and random events.

:lol::lol::lol:

Yeah...sure it is. If they're going to add anything like climate change, it better be the real deal that slowly has fluctuated over thousands of years, and not the religious nonsense of the 21st century.

Yeah! Glad I am not alone.

Oh, and by the way, it's not really fluctuating... I mean, yes, it is fluctuating, around a slowly declining trend line. Because, you know, thermodynamics. And some entropy something.

Anyone installed a spy on civfanatics? They might have our great prophet Eagle Pursuit in their sights :)
Better yet I sent one of my top spies to gain sources at Firaxis. After this he'll do a listening post. ;)

I must be in the minority here. I can't stand the weather below 60F.

Well the range for the sun to actually assist in producing Vit D is very small, like a few minutes since sunrise. After that the sun will be too strong and won't help any more than in the morning (but can burn your skin). Also sunlight is not required in producing Vit D, it just helps the process a little.

Right. Because there are more series regular civs yet to be introduced than can fit in another R&F-sized expansion. And if there isn't more DLC, they need to be introduced somehow. Unless they plan to thin the herd, in which case there will be forum riots.

Also, this is a nice round number:
Base game civs (18) + Aztecs (1) + DLC civs (7) + R&F civs (8) + xp2 civs (8?) + xp3 civs (8?) = 50

I would hope they add another expansion on top of the next one. If our assumptions are correct and the next expansion re-introduces world congress and not much else, there isn’t a lot mechanics-wise that was not in post-BNW Civ5, and Civ6 would end its course as just a rehashed Civ5 in a new skin and with a few new bells and whistles. A third expansion could complete the title with a game-changing mechanic that could carry over to Civ7, much like BNW segway’ed into Civ6.

Of course, more civs are always nice, and as open-minded as I try to be when they intro new civs, I personally would be EXTREMELY disappointed if Civ6 ended with only 8 new civs and the failure to bring back perennial favs like the Inca, Byzantines, and Ottomans. As it stands, if only one 8-civ expansion is left in the title, there is little room for both reintroduced and new civs. Two expansions would give Firaxis breathing room (and more revenue).

In any event, this is a tangent, and the focus should be on the patch...

Yeah, scientists are wrong, Trump is right.

You disgrace our country.
