Spring Patch Info

Which is a very good reason for not announcing intended patch release dates. I expect they now regret the inadvertent initial release of the video, which induced them to subsequently re-releasing it and putting everyone on alert.

Hurry up and wait, folks.

Or do the adult thing and communicate with your playerbase.

I'm starting to lean to the "No DLC between xpacs" camp.

We'll know for sure 30 days after this patch drops.

Hey Firaxis,

Here's a quick fix for the most annoying feature in this game, ever, in 6 iterations.

<GlobalParameters>
<Update>
<Where Name="AI_TURNS_BETWEEN_PEACE_OFFERS" />
<Set Value="Z" />
</Update>
</GlobalParameters>

Please, please PLEASE set "Z" to something, gee, I dunno, greater than 2. Like maybe 5. Or 10. Or something.

Thanks.

EDIT: My bad. After review, it is actually currently set to three:

Replace Name="AI_TURNS_BETWEEN_PEACE_OFFERS" Value="3" />

So, because it seems like it is every 2 minutes, I guess I will suggest 10 as the default (7 if you must).

Or win your wars in 10 turns and get a peace deal for all their gold and gold per turn.

What were the bug issues or does anyone here at Fanatics know? How did we find out a bug was in the grass?
We know nothing for certain; it's just an educated guess.

I would love it if the AI did not give away the farm when suing for peace after not fighting at all. Too many times, the AI will declare war on me, neither of us do anything for 10 turns, and then the AI sues for peace and offers me gold per turn. It's free gold for me. That's silly. Firaxis needs to program the AI to always offer "nothing" (ie just peace for peace) on the first peace offer and let the player negotiate for more if they want to. That's just basic negotiations 101: always offer as little as possible at first.

It's not necessarily a bug, they may have major issues balancing the religion and loyalty thing. It's a pretty major change.

That makes sense. It's possible that QA found a major flaw in the religion-loyalty mechanic and sent it back to the devs and it is taking them longer than expected to figure out how to fix the issue.

I think if people keep asking they will drop it quick.

Yesterday they rolled back the QA build by 3 weeks, presumably due to problems that cropped up during that time. Releasing anything now would be a disaster. Be patient for the finished product.

They just rolled it back again to March 28th.

While I'm keen to get the patch too; that is has been delayed fills me with confidence that they have taken seriously the criticism that resulted from the Nubia patch, which added more problems than it removed. Long may they do it once, do it right; even if that leaves them with some short term egg on face :)
