puma, it's not upgraded becuase it costed 8 gold to do so and as you can see, you only had 7 gold left.

Feanor, it costs 10 gold, only for now sinse its new and not many know of it especcially yourself. :) Next turn it may decrease and the more people that advance will make it decrease as well.

Looks like there's a few slight problems with the map.

Consider, for example, that it looks like I've been annexed by the Netherlands. :)

United Kingdom
The brilliant plan had worked as expected. The French government had essentialy collapsed under the power of the British forces; only 4 small, disorganized French states remained. These French remnants would soon be mopped up by the British armies. Of course, the French conquest had earned the UK a border with another nation; namely, Rome. King John considered the Romans to be an enemy, since they had arrogantly seized French lands that were rightly ours, negating the hard work of our armies. "The Romans," King John decided, "may be strong, but they can't survive a three-front war with England, The Netherlands, and Carthage!"

In fact, King John was so anxious to continue his conquests, that he immediately went to the war room and drew some more plans up on his Really-Really-Big-Map-O-Europe (tm). The 500 soldiers on the European mainland would remain there, split into 3 groups. Group A, which will have 200 soldiers, will first proceed to attack the northernmost French state. After attacking there, the A group will proceed east to the Roman territory north of the Rhine, attacking in league with the Dutch soldiers. Group B, which also will have 200 soldiers, will invade the other French states (starting with the westernmost one), after which defeating they will turn east towards the Roman front. Group C, containing 100 soldiers, will take a break from fighting and promote British expansion along the Atlantic coastline. (Map Attached at end of post)

Together, our mighty forces have almost entirely collapsed the French. May our alliance and friendship last forever. Next Stop: Rome!

ORDERS:
- Upgrade Army to Bronze (8 gold.)
- Upgrade Navy to Copper (6 gold.)
- Keep half of the navy along the East coast of the British Isles, to protect them from any potential Danish attack. Use the other half of the navy to protect the English channel and the supply lines between the Isles and the Mainland Europe.
- 500 soldiers will continue the Franco-Roman campaign on the Mainland, as per the story above and the map below.
- The remaining soldiers are to remain on the British Isles.

A new ruller came to Assyria... his name was Blargoth the Magnificent. As a noble he had watched the previous kings of Assyria drive the country into the ground. Rapid spending of the military had resulted in the country being bankrupt, and Blargoth was enraged. He had been raised as a proud Assyrian warrior on his father's villa outside of Ashur, and schooled in philosophy, goverment, and astronomy from the best tutors. He could see that Assyria was not going to get anywhere if it kept spending all of it's money on the army. Sure, the army was magnificent. 950 men serving the king was something to be proud of, but one couldn't live off of this power alone. So one faithful night, with a small group of comrades, he snuck into the chambers of the foolhardy king. With several swipes of the dagger, the lunatic was dead, and Blargoth, who held the loyalty of the generals (who in turn held loyalty of the army), was pronounced king. Now it was time for Assyria to rise from the ashes....
