stAMNES: Never Ending Story

From Poland
To England:
*SECRET*
We thank you for your offer to pay for us, but we will use the 1 Economy we have left. Our Economy wonder is nearing completion anyway so it will more than compensate. Nothing against you, but we don't want to become a debtor nation to anyone. It would damage our pride. However, your gesture will not go unnoticed and we will remember it in the near or far future. We see it as a first stepping stone to the path of a friendly relationship between our two nations.*SECRET*

To Sri Lanka:
*SECRET*
Thank you, we agree. We will pay you our Economy at once and we are grateful for this gift. Oh, and we agree to an NAP with you ;) . *SECRET*

To Babylon:
Nothing personal, but we just realized we can't afford to pay 1 Economy and to start trade (starting trade routes costs money, too). Even if you would just charge us the apparently-standard-price of 2 Economy, we wouldn't be able to afford it at the moment.

To The rest of the World that I know:
Trade anyone?

To Sri Lanka
From Mediterranea

We would be willing to pay one economy now and one economy in two turns. Is this to your liking?

OOC: Amirsan, I'm still waiting to hear back from Egypt before I can submit my orders.

From:The Empire of Sri Lanka
To:Mediterranea

Yes, this is fine. Nice doing business with you.

OOC:Amirsan, could I have NPC diplo (especially from the Huns)?

From Egypt
To Mediterannea:
Why should we pay you when it should be the other way around? You will lose both ways, help us and you will gain a friendly neighbor. Dont help us, and you will forever be a neighbor of those who attacked you.

From Huns
To Poland:
Pffft!

From Samarkland
To Sri Lanka, Babylon and India:
Very well then.

From Huns
To Sri Lanka:*secret*
We have heard of a price drop, and it very well was not yours still having your price at 2 economies.

From Carthage
To Singhapor:
Iron Age at 1 economy? You've got yourself a customer!

OOC: I was doing them. :) btw, Gladinia quit from Carthage, they are now NPC unfortunatly.

From: The Empire of Sri Lanka
To: Samarkand

Thank you. This will make life much better for you people.

From: The Empire of Sri Lanka

*secret* Fine. How about one Economy and an NAP? */secret*

300th post! Yay! :goodjob:   :bday: [party] [dance] :band:

Now I just need to decide what to use for a custom avatar. Any ideas?

To the Egyptian people
From Mediterranea

If you refuse to pay us, we will leave your nation at the mercy of the Nubians. Nubia is of little concern to Mediterranea if we leave the African continent. They have no navy and cannot threaten us on the seas. We will accept it if your people are able to pay only one economy now and one in two turns, but no less. Certainly Mediterranea will not pay you for your own independence and Mediterranean military aid!

To: Sri Lanka
From: The Hokkaido Confederacy

Greetings from the rulers of the Jomon Archipelago, the mighty Hokkaido Confederacy. We accept the Non-Aggression Pact with your empire.

-Okay, I said I'd have a story and orders, but my internet's been cutting in and out all day. Sorry, but I'll have 'em tomorrow, I promise.-

From: The Empire of Sri Lanka
To: The Hokkaido Confederacy

Thank you! May we always have peace!

Increase economy
Continue wonder

Erik, Lord of India, gazed at the ruins now crumbling on both sides of the border in the area where the Samarks had invaded. With great aid from his staunch allies, India had now reconquered the land, and penetrated deep into Samarkland, which was now falling apart. Apparently the remnants of the empire were going to become a babylonian province.
Now India was in debt, had a small army, and many burnt lands. But Erik vowed that he would rebuild the country, take it ever so long, make it a great and prosperous nation with such an army as none would dare to stand against.
And there was the trade pact with Babylon that had been signed. Let none say that India is not grateful, was the new word on the street. But also: Let none say that India will not rise again. For the war was effectively over and already people were sowing new crops in the fields, and beginning to peacefully occupy ex-Samark territory.

Orders: *Secret*

Upgrade Education by establishing schools in all provinces.
Send troops to Egypt to protect the newly-formed nation from the Nubian invaders. Use the troops, including the navy, to block the Nubians from advancing any further down the Nile and to slowly push them back to their former borders. Annex all Nubian territory beyond the former border between Egypt and Nubia that can be claimed with our military.
Begin a Wonder, the Markets of Tarraco [+2 Economy, One free trade route].

The change of government from an outdated Prehistoric Confederacy of tribes to a Bronze Age Confederacy of cities took longer than originally anticipated [OOC: 200 years, if I recall], but it was at long last complete. With this newer, more advanced government, the Hokkaido Confederacy was set to begin its bid for becoming a world power. After contact with the far-reaching empire of Sri Lanka was made, the Hokkaidan people began to want such power for theirselves.

At the same time, the Imperialist faction controlled well over half of the Grand Council, so whilst the government WAS now a Bronze Age Confederacy, it was slowly eroding towards an Empire. However, also due to the majority of the Council being Imperialist, a great new project was begun -- not a building, but a social plan. It was called the Grand Hokkaido Naval Expansionism Project.

This project was a Wonder all its own. It focused on encouraging the best defense the Hokkaido people had -- their isolation from the mainland. This project would, when finished, increase the economy slightly and the navy [and the training of naval officers] exponentially. The GHNEP would encourage the growth of private naval industry [the economic bonus], set a minimum level of training needed to get into the Hokkaido navy [thus the increase in naval training] as well as bolster the production of ships [and that would lead to the naval increase]. It would take many, many long years to complete, but in the end it could very well leave Hokkaido with the dominant navy of the region.

Orders:

1) The naval focus of Hokkaido begins with the increase of the Tiny navy.

2) Then, the navy is to be sent as according to the map provided to deposit some soldiers and adventures to see if there are any resources worth taking in those areas.

3) The government finally makes it's change to "Bronze Age Confederacy [slowly eroding]"

4) The former Kyotans are to be treated with respect and assimilated into the Confederacy as fast as possible.

5) The Wonder "Grand Hokkaido Naval Expansionism Project [+1 economy, +3 navy size, +2 naval training]" is to begin for defensive [and offensive] purposes of Hokkaido.

Mbongo watched from the hilltop as his troops lined up to receive the Kenyatan attack. Too old to lead directly from the front, he now directed them from a safe spot in the rear by use of a series of signals that he had ingeniously developed. Much of what went on, however, still depended on who the men looked to in the thick of battle, and Mbongo could only hope that Ngambe was the right man for his lieutenant and successor when he went on to join the spirits.

Even leading from here had its advantages. Since Mbongo was not in the thick of battle, he could pay less attention to what he was doing and more attention to what was going on elsewhere. From his lofty vantage point, he could see both his own troops' and the Kenyatans' maneuvers and figure out the best plans of attack and defense.

There were, however, a few disadvantages. One was that, without the use of signals, it would have been quite difficult to direct men from so far away. With time and patience, this had been solved. However, there was one problem that Mbongo could not solve: his longing for combat.

All his life Mbongo had been a restless spirit, spoiling to do anything to get the purest form of enjoyment he could. He had found that in conflict when he had joined the army as a young foot soldier. Even as he rose through the ranks, he continued to fight with his men for the sheer sake of the thrill of battle. The fact that he was an old, gray-haired man now did nothing to dampen that thrill. In fact, it simply increased his longing to be in the midst of the fighting himself.

He shook his head. There was nothing he could do about it except remember the days gone by. Besides, his country needed him leading the army. They didn't need more skilled fighters; they had plenty already. They needed good commanders, and they needed them to stay alive.

***

The two armies clashed. Ngambe was in the thick of battle, proving that he was just as deadly with a spear as his superior Mbongo had been, if nowhere near as graceful. Still, his men looked up to him as much for his killer instinct as they did to Mbongo for his skillful handling.

Right now, though, only the dead and dying were doing any looking up, and they weren't looking up to (or at) anyone in particular. Ngambe was the only Zulu within yards of his position, but after a few minutes there weren't that many Kenyatans around either--or at least not that many standing.

This would almost certainly be the final large battle against the Kenyatans. Their forces had already been decimated by the counterattack, and they had been taken by almost complete surprise in the sudden offensive. Kenyatan morale was at an all-time low, much the same way as the Zulus were floating on air with the news of each victory. Certainly there had been defeats, but they had been few--in fact, Mbongo's unit was one of the few that could claim legitimately that it had never been defeated in battle.

Ngambe made a sharp swipe with his assegai and lunged at an oncoming opponent, nearly impaling the warrior. As that one fell to the ground, Ngambe turned to another, whose courage was obviously faltering. Seeing the spear pointed right at him and the fire in Ngambe's eyes, the Kenyatan threw down his weapon and ran. A few of his friends joined him, causing a panic in the Kenyatan lines. The enemy buckled, then broke, but few managed to escape, as most were overtaken immediately and run down or forced to surrender.

Another day, another victory, Ngambe thought as he wiped the sweat from his brow afterwards. On his hilltop, Mbongo was thinking pretty much the same thing.

ORDERS
-Finish the conquest of Kenya, as shown on the map.
-Once peace has returned to the land, increase economy.
