stAMNES: Never Ending Story

@binyo -- I don't think Christianity (or any of the major world religions today except Hinduism) is yet available. Just make up a sort of Polytheism or Animism.

With the ever increasing territory, wealth, and population of the greater Ochoco region, it soon becomes clear that the limited force of tribal warriors available would not be enough to counter any threat. Thus the chiefs have pooled their shells and beads and are recruiting new warriors with promises of material compensation, women, and honor.

1 Economy on Increasing the size of the army.

ORDERS :secret:

1)grow economy

2)expand east to claim a good deal of the area around the adriatic sea (YUG)

3)expand North West

Manchuria

The invaders had been cut off from their homeland... but the war was still far from over. The rampaging Mongols were still in our lands, committing acts that are probably too cruel to be described here. They must be destroyed, that is for sure, but their superior numbers cannot be overcome at the moment, not even by our superior training. The answer was simple - or so it seemed - build more troops. However, it might only be a matter of time until the economy collapses from the weight of the war, so it couldn't go on for too long. At the worst, the Mongols could be forced into a peace at former borders, but their presence was still a threat to the Manchurians, and the other tribes around. They would have to be extinguished... if not now, then later.

ORDERS:
-Increase army size.
-Attack the Mongolian forces in our territory as follows: the forces which have cut the Mongols off from the mainland will first attack the Mongolian forces. Unsupplied, the Mongols should be weaker than earlier, but still too strong to totally defeat. That is, until the newly trained forces arrive from the Manchurian heartlands. They will attack the Mongols by suprise from the opposite direction, hopefully turning the tide of the battle towards our side. Once the invading forces are killed, captured, etc., both divisions of the Manchurian army will merge and head towards the Mongolian homelands to the west.

ZULULAND

The Zulus were prospering. Their farms and herds grew and multiplied, as did they themselves. Already their lands were vast, stretching over many horizons. They were also blessed with peace, as the lands around them were so sparsely populated that only small tribes dwelt there, and these were there for the same reasons as the Zulus--to pursue their own lives without having to live in fear.

In fact, the only differences between these tribes and the Zulus was the fact that the latter were far larger than any minor tribe. The Zulus had already peacefully assimilated many of these tribes, promising them protection from foreign invaders in exchange for their service to the common welfare of the land.

Even now, the Zulus continued to absorb other tribes in this way. Zululand was rapidly pushing its borders northward, though with only very minimal bloodshed, and even the little that occurred was mostly due to mistakes. The Zulus may have kept a standing military force and were fierce in combat, but they much preferred peace to war.

ORDERS
-Increase Army size.
-Expand northward.

Story:

The Hokkaido Confederacy was under immense pressure. On one side, there was a large island with plentiful resources directly to their south. This would allow their people to prosper as never before. On the other hand, the people were growing restless with the continuing defeats at the hands of the barbarians. If this kept up, the Confederacy could split!

***

"This is our last chance, my brethren," said a councilman. It was yet another coming-together of the tribal leaders. "If we do not succeed with this, we must surrender lest we destroy our own civilization!"

Everyone in the hut nodded in agreement. Councilman Miyamoto II stood, said, "We rashly underestimated the Kyotans' abilities to fight a war against us, and we are paying for it. Now we must conclude this war with a brilliant plan that cripples the Kyotans permanently and restores support for the war, or we must sit content with merely our lone island!"

"Yes," said councilman Nurisaka. He rubbed his weary head and sighed. "Our plan to make them fear us through rumors has strengthened them. We greatly doubted their resolve."

"Nurisaka-sama, it is not finished," said the youngest councilman, a man named Nagasaki. "They will make excellent additions to our nation. However, I am doubting that we can continue whilst remaining merely a confederation of tribes."

No one said anything. It was unthought of to imagine a form of ruling government OTHER than a confederation of tribes!

"I have a suggestion for our battle plans, men, and I think we can pull it off."

"Fine, Nagasaki, hopefully it will be better than your previous one." responded Nurisaka. The young councilman merely smiled.

"Oh, it shall be. It shall, indeed."

Orders:

1) Increase the army once.

(the remaining orders are on the map provided)

Sri Lanka

Nation Name: Empire of Sri Lanka
Jalapeno_dude
Preferred starting province:CEY
Army: tiny, Moderate training
Navy: miniscule, Bad training
Economy: Stable
Education: Poor
Religion:Hinduism
Government:Theocracy (Like the Egyptian Pharaohs- the ruler is worshipped as a god)
Age: Stone Age
Wonders: Shipyards of Colombo (+3 Navy, +2 Naval Training) (4/6)

Sri Lanka's first war was going very well. The Emperor's strategy had worked brilliantly, and Sri Lankan troops had cut deep into Tibetan territory. If he chose, the Emperor could wipe out all of the Tibetan tribesmen. But he was reluctant. These people had a degree of intelligence. Perhaps they could be persuaded to join the Sri Lankan civilization.
On the home front, the Indians' donation of an Economy Level had enabled the economy to stay stable. The Emperor decided to further increase it, to bring it to a level of prosperity never seen before.
The great shipyards were two-thirds done. Work was going on schedule, and would certainly be continued. When it was done, the Empire would again take to the seas, and this time it would be successful.

Orders
*Secret*
-Continue wonder (5/6)
-Increase economy due to the new conquests.
-Send more settlers east along the coast into BUR. Try to expand to the coastal border with THA.
-Attack the Tibetan tribes with 4/5 of the troops, pouring across the border in all locations. The disorganized tribes will not be able to defend at all locations. Once a break through the lines is made, concentrate the troops there and continue pushing in. If the people have revolted, act as liberators, and do not sack towns or kill commoners. Use the last fifth of the army to stay back and defend in case things go badly.

From: The Empire of Sri Lanka
To: India

We have sent a peace offer to the Tibetans which will gain you your lands back. If it is refused, however, be ready to fight! We have faith in the Indian people. They can defend their homeland!

From: The Empire of Sri Lanka
To: Tibetan Tribes

(OOC: This is to be sent not only to the leaders, but told to the people as well, hopefully inciting a revolt if they refuse)

You have been defeated. The great Empire of Sri Lanka can crush your puny tribes at any moment it chooses.
But we are merciful. If you agree to be governed by the Empire (and why wouldn't you? We are civiilized, advanced, and prosperous!) and give the lands you have taken back to India, we will allow you to live as full citizens of the great Sri Lankan Empire. Think about it. What can you gain from prolonging this war? Nothing. What will you lose? Everything. If, on the other hand, you accept, you will become FULL CITIZENS OF THE GREAT SRI LANKAN EMPIRE.

OOC: Monday was my last day of school! I feel sorry for you. Also, when will you institute trade?

Fools! Do you seek your own destruction? However, the Empire is merciful, and is willing to spare your lives in return for the return of Indian land, and the borders below:

As the nations of the western Mediterranean settled into peace once more (OOC: What happened to the Carthaginian-Roman War? Peace at the old border?), the nation of Mediterranea found itself unable to expand further. While the swampy lands termed "Belgica" by the Mediterraneans were still unsettled, no Mediterranean of significance would dwell in such a boggy region. No, it was time to expand by the sea.

Standing by the docks of Massilia herself, the Empress oversaw the sailing of the first ships to the far reaches of the Mediterranean Sea. While the unfinished bulk of the Guildhall loomed over the docks, boat after boat filled with men and supplies and set off for new lands. Mediterranea thrived on trade, and the establishment of ports in foreign lands would be key to success. Therefore, valiant Mediterranean sailors and merchants set off for distant lands to establish trading ports and contact distant civilizations.

Meanwhile, the Mediterraneans met the English, a comely northern people who, after crossing the cold strait separating their island from the mainland, had settled in the regions north of Mediterranea. The Empress prepared a dispatch to the barbaric English, asking for what amount they would part with some or all of their continental holdings. While the Empress did not expect to hear the answer she desired, the Empire nonetheless desires to expand peacefully at all costs, and such formalities are always important. The English, after all, are another trading partner, if a rather distant and poor one.

*Secret*

Orders:

~ Continue work on the Guildhall (5/6)
~ Send expeditions by sea to establish small colonies all around the Mediterranean coast at all locations as yet unsettled (if another civ is found, leave them alone). This means, if possible, small colonies in TRI, TUB, CAI, PAL, GRE, ANT, ANK and the unlettered area near Babylon.
~ Upgrade Education (-1 Econ, +1 Edu.)
