Yes, it is true!

While watching a Voyager episode recently which focused on Seven of Nine, I was reminded that there was a political scandal involving Jeri Ryan's ex-husband. I couldn't remember the details of it so I hopped online to refresh my memory. Well, it turns out the scandal was a sex scandal of sorts involving her (by 1999 ex) husband Jack Ryan ( NO, not of Tom Clancy fame ). Jack Ryan was running for the Illinois open senate seat in 2004, but was forced to retire from the race after the sex scandal came to light. Obama went on to win that seat.

So what do you all think of that, eh?

Well I think at the very least he should appear at the next available Star Trek convention dressed up as a Borg drone. Just to pay respects to the folks that made it all possible.
