Star Trek mod - The Next Generation!

That might be due to the use of "subspace corridors" between the different star systems. Until the TNG age they have no other way of going randomly between systems...

I don't think the Borg are able to get out of their little corner of the universe before then, though.

I think you had better beef up your defenses. ;)

I cant seem to get this mod to show up, is there any specific place I'm supposed to unzip it to specifically?

Are you using Civ 3 Complete? If so, you will have to unzip it somewhere else, and then manually move the mod into the scenarios folder of civ complete. It should then show up. Now once again this is predicated on the supposition that you are using Civ 3 Complete. :D

:nuke: Cheers, Þórgrímr :nuke:

Yes it is civ3 Complete, and thats what I originally did is there something missing fromt he file perhaps?

Probably soon after I get back from Asia (in two weeks)

I had this scenario working last year, but my computer crashed and had to delete it. When I reinstalled Civ and added the ST scenario, now I get an error saying something is missing from one of the.txt files. I miss this scenario more than anything and, I'm not ashamed to say, I'm going to cry if I can't get it working again. Can someone please help me out? You don't want to see a grown man cry do you? I need to go through this step by step cause I just can't figure out whats going on.

Check that, its looking for an art file now too. Everytime I get one thing going, another thing seems to pop up. What is going on?!?!?

Hi Chandler, thanks for playing the mod... ;)

Without a more detailed description of the problem, I don't think I can answer your question. Did you install the latest update for C3C?
But overall the download should be complete, with two updated txt files in the first post of this thread.

Actually I took it to a friend's house and he got it working for me. And may I say, not too soon.

Thanks for responding. And also kudos for making the greatest mod I've ever played for any game... ever! I'm nominating you for "Best Modder," and if there is no such thing as "The Moddies," then I'll invent it and give the 1st one too you.

Oh look, now you made me blush...
Thanks for the compliments... ;)

I DL'ed it and all I can say is WOW! Most impressive ... (oops, that's StarWars not Trek).

One oddity though is that it seems that shuttles are pretty much worthless for anything but scouting (or disbanding them to rush-build in distant colonies). Rarely do I hit anything when I bombard another ship unless it is a very weak ship (even with the Mk II), and I've NEVER been able to damage a groud unit or destroy a "land" improvement (despite numerous attempts). Or is that by design to keep them from being too powerful?

Thanks...

What else could you use a shuttle for? For bombardments, I suggest you rather use star ships for more more effect and lots of patience... ;)

Hey I have a question I hope someone can answer. I've been playing around with the Borg and the Romulans lately (so far I've only been the Federation), and I'm not sure how to play as them. Like, how do the cloaking devices work. And how to the Borg get out of the Delta Quadrant? I've gotten to the scientific discovery that allows the construction of cube, but I can't build any.

Has anyone made a general FAQs on the mod? I would like to read more about the other civs and how to play as them. I'm not very savvy at these things (as you can probably tell given my recent troubles getting the mod to work in the first place).

In this version the cloaking is a combination of invisibility and a cloaking animation. But I don't remember which ships could cloak, you better check the biq file for that.

And how to the Borg get out of the Delta Quadrant? I've gotten to the scientific discovery that allows the construction of cube, but I can't build any.
There is a narrow passage behind the 8472 home world that leads to the beta quadrant. So you have to destroy them first before you can take over the universe... ;) Cubes require 3 resources to be built (check the civilopedia). Are you sure you have all of them?

I guess I can't dispute you on that, seeing as how you designed it and all, but I am having a hard time finding a passage behind the 8472 home world. Is there something I'm missing?

I take it then that one of the resources I need to build a cube is outside the delta quadrant?

Well I did not design it, I just took an existing ST scenario by Glorfinder and Kenta'arka and added some extra stuff. So you should be thanking them mostly... ;)

If you have a hard time finding it, you can always see the map in the editor. But that's cheating of course. The resources for the cube are all in the delta quadrant, I think. Need to check it though...

I looked at the map editor (I cheated, gotta go to confession) and I can see no escape from the delta quadrant, and there's duranium missing there too, which is why I can't build cubes. There's one supply of it just outside, but I combed the delta quadrant looking for any, and there seems to be none. I hope I haven't been playing an old or bad version. I don't suppose there's a way to edit saved games, cause that would be a pisser if I had to start over as the Borg.
