Spacer one, I have found about 7 different Ferengi ships, so you will even be able to fly a Ferengi fleet if you wish. :D

Sorry i've taken so long to reply, Flamand.

There are actually some shots of Dominion ships in the BOTF2 site.

The main one is the Jem'Hadar "Bug". This particular model is being made by a guy called Zahadoom.

He posted several shots of it all the way through the design process, but this is the link to the final:

There are some other Domion ships posted on the site, but these particular ones are nameless/have no purpose <yet> as far as I know. Not that that matters - you guys can use any of the ships any which way you choose. ;) :lol:

As a guide though, I imagine that you could use the top one as a Transport/Scout, the middle one as a Battleship/Seige Unit, and the third one as a Transport/Settler unit. ;)

If you need more Ferengi models, the Ferengi were a playable race in BOTF1, so there are plenty of models that you could use there. Again, if you need info on the ship classes, I can help you. ;)

On the subject of the Gorn, perhaps the fact that they are Reptiles could be used as the reason why their ships aren't sleek - they are completely different in terms of a race, (Ie. not human with facial bumps :lol:) so they would have completely different design ideas and philosophies - although that could be said for every alien race FULL STOP. :rolleyes:

I think having a ship that was completely different from the norm would spice things up though. In BOTF1, ships had hull armour, and shields for defense. Once all shield points are depleted and the hull armour is gone, your ship goes boom.

Its has been suggested that in BOTF2 there could be ships that have no shields, but massively strong hull armour, or strong shields and virtually no armour.

There could even be ships that have no beam weapons, but have hundreds of Torpedoes that do minimal damage. (The combined effect of all those Torpedoes would obviously be devastating though)

Unusual ships like these would spice the game up, especially in battles. I think this may even be useful for your mod, although I imagine implementation would more difficult. :(
 
Matress, yeah we could use some help in finding certain classes of ships for the Ferengi and Dominion. Mainly most types of carriers and their escorts.


Would need the following;

Escort Carrier CVE
Light carrier CLE
Carrier CV
Assault Carrier CVA

Escorts;
Destroyer Escort DDE
Escort Cruiser ECL


As for the Gorn, to each his own. But being reptilian does not mean you are going to waste ship tonnages on useless and unneeded ships hull and bracing. That stuff costs money.

I am always amazed at how folks COMPLETELY ignore logistics in their weird and wacky ship designs. Because designing and building something so massive that could be obviously outmaneuvered by smaller and more nimble ships, is a waste of materials and money.

Well, logistics weren't really an issue in startrek, till DS9.
So were money(and their mere existence).
It would make much sense in real world, but ST isn't.

Plus we should actually consider how possible is for an alien to look like a Gorn, and the cheasy graphics, etc, if we try to apply it to actuality. My comments were based on how I see people talk all the time about how you could really fly a bucket in space, since shape doesn't matter much at those velocities(aerodynamics applies within planetary atmospheres according to that arguement).

Size would mostly make a ship maneuverable(and possibly engines and such) in such a scenario. Assuming the Gorn would understand the tactical advantage of maneuverability(they might be going for raw power for all we know).

However I understand that this is your mod and you can have what you feel best for it. Chances are I wouldn't welcome other contributions to my mod either, unless I totally agreed with their look and feel.(Not that I'm saying I liked the guys proposals for Gorn, but he has a point as I see it). Since there is room for creativity, I'd go my way too, if I had the ability.
 
Everyone has their own (Equally valid) point of view, and I gave mine.

I wasn't suggesting that You MUST change your ideas of the Gorn coz i'm right. As people have said, we simply don't know what the Gorn ships look like.

In the BOTF forums there have been many disagreements in the past between members. I partly caused some of them, and I partly helped end some of them. I understand what it is like when people have opposing points of views, and in projects like this, such arguments are understandable.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. (I hope you guys can agree to that! :lol:)

On the case of the Ferengi, Carriers were not an available clas of ship in BOTF - there were no fighters for them to carry in the first place!

I've raided my program files for BOTF, and i've found pictures of the various Ferengi ships from the game. I don't know about the legal stuff so if i'm not supposed to show them then i'll remove these pictures. I'm assuming its ok to show them though, coz other pictures from BOTF have been posted in the past. ;)

The ship-type/classes are as they were in BOTF, but you could use these ships any which way you choose - you could decide the Colony ship would make the perfect Battleship for the Ferengi if you wanted! :lol:

@Matress, we sure could use some of those Ferengi.:goodjob: Do you have the models for them? Or can I rip them out of my copy of BOTF? Yes I DO play other Trek games. ;) :D

@ Flame as in regards to ship tonnages in space, mass still does matter, it would take a geometrical increase in energy output to move an extreme amount of mass such as the bricks in space Interplay introed.;)
