No problem nEo, if you still cant get it to work though, just send me the file, and ill turn it into a unit for you.

Plastic Bag, do you want the credit to go also to Jerry Schnelzer, or as that instead of Plastic Bag?

Okay, there's those terrain pics I promised earlier. There is also before pic so you can compare. I added some units in photoshop just for fun :)

This is of course the first sketch, but I succeeded to tile 'em quite properly. As you can see, the coast is now "planet surface" and there is some planets etc. in space. I also made terrain look less spotty than in original terrain and made snow look more like a snow and desert more like a desert.

Opinions?

Superb Lukree! Just Superb!
I like the snow and desert. So maybe you should issue a modpack that replaces the old snow and desert with the new... People might like it! I know I would!

I was just thinking about the desert thing, and I noticed that whenever someone would want to make a tatooine scenario, it would all be desert. So to balance out the horrible rates that the desert gives you you should make irrigation (Which should be called moisturization veign IMHO) cheap and effective, same with the town imp. Moisture Farm. That way you could survive in the desert...
BTW, is it even possible to rename worker jobs?

Wow! Lukree, when you said you were changing the terrain, i didnt realize that you were making it look so good!!! :D That is by far the best 'space' terrain ever made for any modpack for civII. Your deserts and tundra look waaaaay better too :D I have to give you alot of credit for this :D

And yes Shadowflame, you can rename worker jobs ;)

Lukree, is that shot really genuine or is the whole thing actually photoshop? I hope it is genuine as it looks VERY cool. I am most impressed by all art work so far (its beyond me) and especially the new terrain (providing its genuine) keep up the good work all.

Ok, about the fighter units e.g. xwing, awing, tie.... Should they be like regular civIII air units, or like civII air units with the ability to combat eachother, move around the map, combat land units. The only problem with them being like civII air units is they cant fly over space, and they have the ability to take over cities.. Or I could have it so they are still civ3 units, but can fly over space and land, though if they get attacked by a land unit they will automatically die. Finally, i could just make them naval units, but what fun would that be??? Need to know the most popular opinion on this.

Yes it is really 100% genuine, I added only those units in photoshop. I'm quite happy about it, it's my first terrain made for civ! There's one pic in one of my saved games for proof. Those civ units just doesn't look so good.. And thanks for your positive comments! There is still so much to complete before the whole terrain is ready.. Mountains, forests, jungles, cities, rivers, resources etc... But I'm going to make 'em when I got some free time. When I get it a bit readier I can send a zip for download.

Lukree great job, love the coast. I bet you could even take taht coast and turn it into a sortof cratered loooking surface. Once all graphics are changed (and damn fish are gone :) ) will look even better.

Was thinking about space....small problem. If the air unit we are creating have shadows the shadows will show up on hte space and it won't look right but if we remove the shadows then over land they wont look good either. ...what to do what to do.....

About the air units, i wish we didnt have to go either way really. CIV II was good cuz you could fly around but it didnt let you fly far enough and I really dig bombarding with planes like in CIVIII....in CIVIII however not being able to really fly the plane sux. Is there any way to reprogram the air units?

Very impressive! Have you considered putting the "shallow water" bits as a very light blue, like the atmospheric aura around a planet? As it is, it looks a bit odd. Also, are you planning on having different "coasts" for different types of planet? For instance, Tatoooooooine (I never know when to stop) wouldn't have a cratered surface, and Calamari (Oh dear, that's gonna be a real pain to do...) wouldn't have any .

I agree with Torak, I think its an excellent job. However I'd love to see those bright blue "aura" around planets/land objects. I'd also say that I think that space looks a bit to much like the late evening sky, imho it should be darker. But what am I syaing, I could never do anything this pretty, so don't take my critiques the wrong way, I think its great! just lettin ya know my opinion.

nEo, the fighter units could still have bombard ability no matter what style their in. The only problem is all the styles have problems with them. Also, all the styles can have the re-base option(which i renamed to hyperjump). If the style is the units that can fly over space, then i will remove the rebase option.

Ok been hard at work on the website for this mod which think we need, we seem to almost be reaching the point where it it overgrowing the forum.

I have a single page which can be viewed at http://www.visim.com/starwars/

The links dont work but you get the idea. I tried to keep it simple, professional looking, and navigation friendly so its easy to download stuff and to see new updates.

I can't host this website on my own server so I do need server space to host it on. Whoever has a server, preferably not any free server with banners, and can off space please contact me ASAP @ neil@visim.com

Once the website is up I will along with anyone else who wants to be trying to work out link deals with other websites to get this mod name out there. The sky is the limit if we do a really great job.

I can handle updates for now but if I get really busy with work I may need someone else or multiple people to handle updates.

Thanks for all your help.

Agreed - I'll set up a Yahoo! group, so we can use that. I'll post when it's sorted.

I'll help!

I've set up a Yahoo! group to use as a sort of mailing list / communication / file sharing thing, since - as someone said - this is starting to outgrow the thread. The group is at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Civ3-SWmod

I think you'll need a Yahoo account to join, but I'm not sure. Either way, I reckon it'll keep things simpler.

Neo! Damn brilliant, the pages look great! :)

Colors and everything is perfect! And simple enough, very pro! I love. I think that the name of the mod is also great, a New Mod sounds great. The only problem is that this mod is going to be far better than any of Lucasarts latest 20 Star Wars game releases...

And about feedback:

I agree about that "shallow water"/coast/whatever still looks too much like water. I'm going to figure out something, just have to do some testing. It could really be cratered or some sort of cloudy atmosphere.

And about that space blueness- in civ it's really darker blue, maybe 'couse different gamma settings. I thought it is better with some blue than just plain black. Of course I can also try changing that. And I think that the shadows doesn't look bad over the space when it's dark enough.

Diffent coasts- Torak, it would look really cool if there would be different "coast" styles, but at the moment it's not possible. The way tiles are handled and linked together is way too complicate. At least I can't figure out how it could be done..

When I have some free time I'm going to push it a bit readier and after that I can release that for further commenting and testing.

And for everyone: Everything looks so far wonderful, so let's not spoil it! :goodjob:

BTW: if everyone haven't noticed yet- Firaxis has added mod-area to www.civ3.com. I would love to see A New Mod there when it'll be finished!
