StarCraft 2 pro-gaming and 1v1

My Predictions
LG-IM_MVP 3 > 0 SKT1_Rain
Liquid'TaeJa 3 > 2 ST_Life

Rules: +1/-1 if I'm right/wrong on who wins; +2 if I'm also right on the score; -2 if I predict the winner wrong and he goes 0:3.

Results:
LG-IM_MVP 3 > 2 SKT1_Rain (+1)
Liquid'TaeJa 0 < 3 ST_Life (-2)

My prediction score: -1 for the round; +5 for the season. TaeJa getting 3-0'd is kinda shocking; but Rain was really really close to beating MVP. Combined with his WCS Asia and incoming OSL victories, he's looking to be the strongest player for next season.

But now the grand finals are tomorrow! Life has gone on an insane kill streak this Code S, whereas MVP -- like his previous championship against ST_Squirtle -- lumbered through and barely exited his rounds by using insane mindgames whilst his mechanics decline. I think this will be his fifth championship, and probably his last, considering he badly needs wrist surgery and HotS is coming out soon and the KePSA conquerors like Flash are going to be in Code S next season.

My Predictions
LG-IM_MVP 4 > 2 ST_Life

Ah, Life took it in a really close 4 > 3, but it was a stupid series. Every game either Life lost too many drones to blue-flame hellions and lost or he got infestor/broodlords and won.

I thought it was thrilling! I have rarely been more pleased to have predicted the results incorrectly.

the problem with post-patch TvZ is that now zerg is too strong for mid-game defense, which means you either have to cheese them, completely outplay them in the mid-game, or get some extreme pre-hive advantage that disallows them from getting too many infestors and broodlords.

Have you noticed that no one by you or I has posted in this thread since early June? :P

I may be incorrect due to not following the game closely enough lately, but are ghosts a potential counter against broodlord infestor, or is there really no real counter save for a well-spread viking cloud and a maxed ground army?

They used to be very good counters against both units, but snipe got nerfed. Still pretty good against infestors though.

A maxed mech army with a good engagement can counter them, but practically a Code S zerg should never allow that to end in anything but an equal trade; and zerg are much faster and economically sound to remax after that point than terran.

Demuslim did ok in the NASL. Got knocked out narrowly by Violent - but he finished as runner-up so no shame in that. Always interesting watching SC2 and quite frustrating. Demu plays a blindingly good macro game which lasts 35 minutes and then in the next game he GGs within 10. Just the nature of the beast though.

Getting back into SC2 now. Currently Platinum. Trying to make a big push for diamond - anybody have any tips on actually how to improve? I am actually making notes after each game where I break the game down and think hard about why I failed or how I won. Done several matches in this method and some matches are easier to pick apart from others. At this low level there are still blindingly obvious mistakes - yet in others it takes a few replays to find out where I went wrong. Haven't read up on any of the changes yet - best do that...

I picked up this game back in august of 2011 and i have to say its the best 50€'s ive ever spent! So much fun, and the community is fantastic!

Im getting back into sc2 this year, took a break for about two months around this time last year( it took me ages to get out of bronze) , the game was frustrating for me at the time. I've been playing on and off since. But the new expansion is really intresting to me. I got the HOTS beta when i pre ordered from amazon, havent played too much of it but it is alot o fun, went 3/5 in my placements last week and I got silver!

I have not played WoL since early summer, but I have been playing the beta. Watching your own replays is probably the best way to judge how you could improve.
