Don't kill me, I was just hoping! X_x ...Aw, that sucks. But I guess the slash-font is okay.

Anyway, after seeing the screenies, I doubt there will be any fancy schmancy physics engine in the game (the opposite of hoping!). And let's face it: combat with big monsters (like Ultralisks) is just not fun anymore without fancy schmancy physics!

EDIT: In fact, by the looks of it, this is just going to be Starcraft with better graphics and modificationabilitnizing.

Same. In fact, the hype is starting to annoy me.
Same.I just saw the demo video of StarCraft 2 and lose all interest in SC2 - I like the RTS in which I can blow enemy troops into the tree and destruct every thing on the map ^^

Crap... I acidentally voted the wrong one (BtS).

Seriously, BTS is a new expansion, StarCraft II is a new GAME.

I find that I have to agree with that statement, despite its vulgar nature. So far as the teasers go, Starcraft II is nothing but a hybrid of Starcraft and Warcraft III. Honestly, Blink?

However, if anything's going to make Starcraft II popular, it won't be astounding new gameplay mechanics or its smooth style graphics (I just loved the 3d when I saw it)--it's going to be the story.

...was that old man in the concept art Jim Raynor? Did the story move on so far already? HL2 story syndrome!

It will be the koreans that make it popular :P

...

I'll probley come around to the game once its released, a game'a'holic's gotta have the latest. I just wish the zerg & protoss looked as cool as they did in the original, the 3d has taken away some of their character & zerg no longer look slimy but rather mechanical.

It's also in alpha :P

Starcraft 2. Only due to the fact that I haven't even bought warlords yet because they'll inevitably pack Civ 4 and all of it's expansions into one package that'll be the price of the original, or more likely, less. So I'll just buy that for the best bang for my buck to see where the game has been taken.

Now, if that aforementioned package was being released tomorrow alongside Starcraft 2 and I had enough money for only one. Then I'd buy the Civ pack.

BtS for me. I liked StarCraft, but I've pretty much grown out of RTS.

Now as far as the popularity of StarCraft in Korea goes - I'm currently living in Korea and so far, my impression of it is that while it is insanely popular (where else do you have a bloody StarCraft channel??? :crazyeye: ) compared to the US, the way American and Western media portrays Korean StarCraft fandom is totally overblown. Not everyone plays StarCraft here. ;)

Actually, Blizzard confirmed that Starcraft II will be using the Havok physics engine.

Sorry guys, but I love me some Blizzard games. As much as I like playing Civ IV, and Warlords, BTS would have to wait in line behind Starcraft II.

On the physics engine:

Now that changes everything. If they manage to mix in a physics engine and Starcraft gameplay, balance it all up into a neat little bundle...I quote Alexander the Great of Macedon: "--it would be way cool!"

I wanna see Ultralisks crashing into a group of marines sending them all flying into the air with its great tusk-claw things, battleships falling into the ground in a blazing fireball turning Zerglings into red goo, Wraiths doing dogfights instead of "stand and shoot" all of the time...wishy wishy wishy...:crazyeye:

...Anything less will be boycotted!

I'm very excited, no matter what they do I'm sure I'll enjoy it. I completly suck at RTS' multiplayer, but I still love them to death. Such a loser :(

The physics has me intrigued, too. Mmm, destruction in all dimensions.

The thing that makes me angriest about Starcraft 2 is that the beta test passes will inevitably go to people that attend Blizzcon, and when you live in Saskatchewan, it's freakin' impossible to go :(

Anyone have any ide of where it is in development? I read that they were moving into closed beta. If that's true, then how long (Blizzard time) would it be before it comes out?

I know Blizzard doesn't do things in terms of time, more in stages, so I guess I'm asking: How many stages until release and how long - based on their past experience - will these stages roughly take? Is this an end of year thing or a couple of years off thing?
