Starlifter is back!

Oh he remembers.I think he has been posting all night

starpost.jpg

Proof positive that civfanatics is too big...I didn't notice and I am a pretty wide-ranging poster.

And that´s by far not all.
I think he posted in over 30 threads in Civ2 general alone, up to 20 more in Civ2 strategy and up to 10 in Civ2 GOTM.
Not counting the numerous times he posted more than once per thread.
But he indeed seems to be uninterested in Off-Topic, maybe he thinks there are too many spammers here!
:D

This is just like waiting for a new Star Wars movie. Everyone is all hyped up, but can the actual event live up to the hype? I am anxiously awaiting my first reading of the vaunted starlifter's posts. :)

If I were starlifter, I'd wait to see how long this thread would continue going before jumping in. This is getting to be funny.

Why wait? Just check up any of his new posts in the Civ2 forums. This guy's as amazing as always. :)

Believe me, you'll rue the day. He never writes less than a paragraph. His story'll pobably be pages long.

I am intriugued; who is this star God guy? Is he an antidote to sharpie boys quick typing?
If he's that good, maybe TF should post a sticky thread to the top of each forum, to say his children await here impatiently his second coming.

Starlifter is a famous Civ2 poster. He always posts small books for posts. He has a lot of knowledge and will most likely soon reclaim his spot at the top of the GOTM for civ2.

I wonder if we should send him a PM or if that would be cheating... :D

Wait till the thread becomes unpopular.

His PM box is probably busted fr all the 'Where are you?' PMs we sent him over the mths. ;) Someone go post in the Civ2 forums to get his attention.

I tried the civ2 posting but I don't think he's read it yet. It'll be a few hours more....

Hey All...

What a cool thread! And I hope you're all doing great!

Actually, I started off in the GOTM section, and then the Civ 2 stuff :), and noticed some notes telling me to come to an OT thread.

Well, last October some real life things came up and I did a little traveling (pulls the still beating heart out of a terrorist stuffed into a duffle bag). LOL, no nothing particularly glamorous... I'm USAFR now, and we don't even see our targets up close. Most of the work to support extended overseas missions is not particularly exciting (you military and ex-mil guys know probably about that... its the same in every branch of service). The more widespread action will come sometime in the next 3 years when we take care of Saddam, and possibly another mideast country which I won't name, LOL.

BTW, keep an eye on the India-Pakistan thing....

I'll try reply to those who've posted:

Need to get to my PMs (thanks for reminding me... ). BTW, for any relative newcomers to CFC, PH76 is one of the famous CFC-ers who also had a break for a while last year, even left the world of Mods as I recall... Good to see you mod-ing again!

Knight-Dragon:

It worked! I noticed the notes, LOL!!! Thanks! I didn't realize there was a thread going over here! :D

LOL, on rare occasion! The post will indeed be long.... And I do remember you, Xeven!

by andycapp:

starlifter, your OT fan club are becoming agitated, they need to know you still luv them

But of course! All you gals and guys are not only fun, but interesting... Even you Dogberry (someone who likes to "dog" some of my OT topics on Communists, the Death Penalty, etc, LOL!).

by Lucky:

Hi Lucky, its probably about 80 posts to so :)... Seems you were able to come to CFC and give Smash some GOTM competition about the time Shadowdale and I had to take a hiatus. For those that don't know, Lucky's done some good civving in the Civ 2 GOTM from what I've seen!

by Smash:

Oh he remembers.I think he has been posting all night
Been posting off and on for the last 2 days, as I have a few minutes around the house... pretty caught up in the Civ 2 section, I think!

by K-D, AKA SKM:

Welcome back, Starlifter! I used to be SKM BTW, maybe you'll remember me.

Aha! I remember you, SKM... Like you new name "better" (easier to say) :).

by Matrix:

Come out, come out, wherever you are...
(I thought he crashed in Afghanistan)

Hey Matrix! The GOTMs (well, the Civ 2 GOTM, since I have not looked at any Civ 3 stuff yet) is looking good... the spreadsheet is really awesome now! LOL, I see the "Airbase-on-a-hill" issue was resolved last Dec ;). For those that don't know, Matrix is the engine that keeps the GOTMs going, and getting better each month, though now I see you must have so much to do that Smash and Duke of Marlb. are helping in the Civ 2 arena. Nope, didn't crash in Afganistan, though though the years I've had several dozen friends, acquaintances, and and even crewmen killed in crashes around the world. Goes with the territory, though. The F-16/Canadian thing was sure a tragedy though.

by Duke of M.:

He's still catching up on all the Civ 2 Gen/Strat threads

And the Civ 2 Tech Support Forum, like those that have "My Civ 2 game freezes on Win XP, can you help?" questions, LOL ;). Ohhhh, the Mysteries of Microsoft!!

Cool! Starlifter is back!
I wonder if he remembers good ol' Xeven head? I hope so, though I don't expect him to (I'm not a very prominent poster any more...I was once, when I was "xeven_god_of_helsibahr", but alas, no more.

Yep, so what happend to the origninal name; And you know, I always wondered about the name/histo of Helsibahr.... I even know about such historical figures as Alcibides (in AoA's name), but could not place yours from back then. I was answering one of your posts yesterday (about the Sep-Mon-Com-Fun govt strategies), and you have a reply. Partly in reply to your post, I decided to outline a "Power Fundy" strategy, which has a link there for you. :)

PS, this post is now 4705 characters long, and I see Thunderfall has increased the size limit to 15,000, LOL!!!!

To be fair, some might say "infamous" at times, LOL.... And I do have a few short posts at times ;)... I don't really like lots of short posts, in general.... better to have longer ones. I know Matrix always used to encourage me to expand my discussion in the GOTM Forums, LOL!!!! :-)

In reality, I learn as much or more from reading everyone else's posts as I post myself! Hopefully, in the GOTM 2 world, we'll get some of those medals spread out as those Prince and King players become fire-spitting, Diety playing, raging hordes-loving fanatics ;). The one at the top of the HOF right now (Smash) is easily (in my book) the best Civ 2 player anyway, GOTM or not...

Errr, my only claim to Deity status is through my favorite level of Civ 2 difficulty (waving arms and chanting in Latin).... Actually, a few notes that people left in the Civ 2 threads told me to come to the OT.... I'd have stopped in sooner if I knew a long thead was building.... The OT is where the most spirited (and yes even loooooongggg) discussions take place as we all decide the fate of <fill-in-the-blank>!

veni-vedi-postadari

(I came, I saw, I posted)

:-)

by PH76:

A whole damn thread about just him and he hasn't even shown up!!! It had better be a really long story.

Ouch! Such strong language in the saintly and reserved OT!!! BTW, did ya'll hear President Bush's exclamation caught on tape yesterday when he though he was addressing a race via long-diatance telephone, and was told the connection dropped and they did not hear him? He was torqued, and said "God-dang". Ouch. I called Barbara and tattled on him.

by Cornmaster:

Well....where is he???
I have to talk to him

Hey Cornmaster, master of programing and master of Star Trek! How've you been? I need to get to you website and see what you've got cooking this week. For those that don't know, CM has some pretty cool programs, including a civ trivia quiz, that he writes. And probably new stuff since last Fall!! :-)

by joespaniel:

Hey buddy -
We missed you. Welcome home.
I will leave out the part where I admonish you for not telling us you were leaving 6 months ago.
...
I look forward to hearing all the war-stories.

Hi Joe. I see you've kept the Cav icon! I like the Civ 2 icons, and the Civ 3 ones still seem more like FW icons until I get adjusted to Civ 3. BTW, I think the "real" war stories are yet to happen... and the hard work is still to come. I'll say I have not bayonetted even a single terrorist, much less seen one (wipes stick red stuff off sharp appendage to trusty M16). Seriously, in coming months and years, I suspect we will all become front liners in more than rhetoric, whether in uniform or not.

by Cunobelin Of Hippo:

I suspect as much, and if he did go, I don't imagine he can tell us very much if anything details-wise. Anyways, good to see you around Starlifter

You're pretty much right; they don't even let the media and family know about deployments. In the Persian Gulf War by contrast, geeze, the news media was even reporting live from the back of my parked plane at one point. But the good knews is that Frontline and good news shows give a pretty good picture of what's happening.

by spycatcher:

Think he went to afghanistan? I mean he is in the military.

Its best if I don't say, but I can point out that the US has made several agreements with neighboring countries to conduct support operations. It takes a lot of support to project and sustain military power across the world.

by KNAS:

t will indeed be interesting te hear his story

Its really not that intersting; I'm just a cog in the wheel.... really, all of us in the free world are, in a sense, now anyway. I can say I was not cave-hunting for terrorists, but I asked to do it.... LOL, they probably thought I was nuts, though I felt I had the traiing for it. Some general thinks pilots should not be on manhunts for some reason.

To the survivors and Family of the late Graeme the mad:

Hes probabably writing up a whole novel right now to go into this thread, dont worry by the time he's finished we'll be long dead

Graeme was a profilic poster...
I knew him well.
Those who didn't
Can go to h.... errr, CFC and read his posts! LOL!

hehe....

by Lucky:

Just look at the Civ2 fora, almost all threads have been "spammed" by him!
Welcome back.

Lucky may have been a little miffed by some of my posts and the volume when he wrote this, methinks, but all is fine now! :-)

by Becka:

I looked in the "Who's Online" this morning and saw starlifter's name. I couldn't believe it, so I took a screenshot just in case nobody believed me.
Welcome back!

How've you been? Is the "Favorite Songs" thread still going? I remember some of yours, LOL. Wow, you're a 1000+ poster now, too :-).

by Simon Darkshade:

ndeed. I too have spotted the voluminous Civ2 wisdom of our long absent friend once more decorating the boards, and been heartened by it.
Welcome back.

Thanks, very happy to be back with some time to post! Hehehe.... that trail ain't too hard to follow over in the Civ2 section... Like the screenshot Smash posted, LOL.

by PH76:

I just wanted to make a thread for Starlifter to give us his story.
Where ya been?
What ya seen?
What ya do?
Details, more details the better!

For those of you that don't know Starlifter he is one of CFCs rare spammers that has a lot to say in his posts. He is well known for filling the max characters in a post for more than 3 posts in a row! But he always has something important to say in his posts....well, almost always.

Been around (traveling a lot, sometime on the taxpayer penny, LOL), Seen a few things, and didn't do as much as I wanted (boo-hoo)....

I did notice the 10,000 character limit has been increased to 15,000 now! Yeah!
LOL, I suspect no one has something important to say all the time, even from my own perspective.

Well, I've really enjoyed this thread, and will get back to the OT as I have time this week. Gotta finish GOTM 16 and send it off and look at my PM and regular e-mail (if my Starlifter box is still working). And I can't take credit to a 10,000 char post, exactly, since I used so many quotes.... but for the first time at CFC, my post will exceed 10,000...

Good night all!

This post is 12,026 characters long.

My goodness! A reply in the manner that we were all expecting. :D

Yep, I saw that one as well. Quite titilating.

"This Song's For You" is still going, with such great bands as Lufthansa Terminal making an appearence.

As said previously, good to have you back, and thank you for being a small cog in the wheel that is working for all of us.:goodjob:

And who knows, you may get to go 'caving' some day. ;)

Well, nobody has said too much when stating that starlifter makes huge posts, this is about the longest I've ever seen. ;) Nice to see someone with so much knowledge on Civ2 (judging from your posts in the Civ2 section) to be back here at CFC. Maybe you can join in on the democracy game, we could need some devoted players there and somebody with so many ideas on Civ2 gameplay is always welcome!

Survivors Starlifter???
There are no surviviors
Im touched such a fantastic supreme poster like yourself rembembers a lowly poster like me...

Oh I've come over all emotional, sorry, sorry, its just its Starlifter, hallowed be thy name

(and why havenmt you got civ3 yet - silly boy)

Wow, what a characteristically-starlifteresque post; with all the LOLs and the sheer length. :D

We're kind of worried about you 'cause you just dropped out-of-sight like that w/o prior warning. Glad you're doing OK. :) :goodjob:

There'd been a few threads before, asking "Where in the world is Starlifter?" ;) Welcome back!

I don't jump on over the weekend so imagine my surprise when I see I have 2 new PM's... I nevber get those things! Then to see they're from Starlifter!! Couldn't reply since his mailbox was full but I am also glad to see you back man! :goodjob: :) :) :)
