OOC: Great update... But why wasps? I like gnats more. Also, do they have flying cockroaches? Those can make ideal weapons against humans.
And that western system I colonized was supposed to be the westernmost of those I claimed. Sorry if I didn't make it obvious.
Erik - isn't military, in this case, an adjective as well?

Galos studied the planet in front of him. Already from space, it was sighted that it was, indeed, teeming with life. Insect life. Galos and other nine greatest Alean telepaths studied this planet carefully for ten minutes so far. They studied it with eyes, preparing themselves for the actual study.
The starship was quiet. Nobody talked. All the mechanisms were silenced or quieted down so that they do not interrupt.
Galos sent a signal to the other telepaths.
They closed their eyes and shut down all of their senses apart from the one they turned on now.
It was like a nightmare. Chaos. Chaotic amount of minds, all connected to several greater ones, that were many as well. This was going to be much harder. Especially as those minds were completely alien. There was NOTHING that made them akin to Alean minds.
Almost nothing. They still did have thoughts.
Galas sent another signal.
The attack begun. Their minds raced into the alien world, ignoring its chaos, and struck at the thoughts.

not. follow. orders. queen.
As simple as that. Suddenly, one of the bugs was no longer following orders from his queen. The hive mind was shaken.
The queens all concentrated on that bug, to see what was going wrong. They exposed themselves to a massive attack.

not. give. orders. to. others.
The queens were confused, as the light-speed attack overcame their alien minds and prevented them from communicating with the bugs.
And then, two other telepaths, Oras and Metas, entered the battle. All along, they studied the contact lines between the queens and the bugs, ever since first contact. Now, as the queens were confused, they struck and cut off the contact lines.

Melos patrolled the planet. It was a rather nasty one, with corpses here and there that could interrupt construction process, but that could be removed later on. The bugs were easy to crush, naturally. Now all that remained to do was to make sure that the planet could not be lost to any other races, like the Telrah.
It was very easy. All that was required was to establish full control of the planet surface - to explore it and to make sure that there was nothing else nearby.
Melos sighted a hole in the ground. Somewhat unnatural, must be a creation of those bugs. He approached it, and saw two large eyes blinking there. Another incapacipated bug that would be later taken over. Melos looked at it carefully. Odd. Those didn't tend to blink, did they?
That was his last thought as the bug leaped out, revealing a powerful build complete with two wings and a formidable sting. That sting broke through Melos' face armor and impaled his brain.

Nekes entered the council room slowly, with respect to the higher ranks.
"Greetings, Nekes." - spoke Vortis, followed by the other councillers.
"Greetings, Vortis." - she spoke.
"Report on the Zakra situation."
"Our greatest telepaths launched a succesful attack on their society's foundation, the contact with their queens, and rendered the civilization almost totally disabled. As they were confused, the..."
"I know it. I want to know your analysis on what happened after the conquest of the planet surface." - Vortis said.
"The Zakra have apparently developped advanced evolution abilities. Within days, several of the bugs quickly pioneered a change to a completely different system - left without queens, they changed to a mode of thinking similar to ours, but with a much stronger collective mind. Soon, their entire species became capable again."
"Why was this not noticed?"
"The telepaths needed to rest after the attack. It drained a lot of their strenght."
"We have other telepaths. Why did they not act?"
Silence.
"Because of overconfidence. They thought that one attack was enough. They acted on very little data - or, rather, did not act at all thinking that the enemy could do nothing now." - continued Vortis - "Continue the report."
"The Zakra also managed to develop some of them into capable organic fighting machines - such as the "air wasp commandos". Our forces were unprepared for this and lost control over much of the surface, as well as taking heavy casualties. Only the arrival of the scouts and the Fourth Guard pushed the enemy back. It was much more of a challenge then expected."
"Very well. What is your proposal?"
"We should have not much trouble fully reestablishing control over the planet within the month. I believe that the conquest of this planet too is worthwile, especially due to this latest discovery.
Thus, I propose that we should capture, via telepathy, several of the male Zakra specimens to create our own artificial hive. We should establish a closer control over their mutations to produce several subspecies to serve our purposes. They can be used as auxillary forces for our military or maybe as supercomputers. More information will be needed, ofcourse..."
"Get that information.
I and the Council approve this action."
Orders:
- 5 credits into Basic Weaponry.
- 2 credits into Fighter-Scouts (40).
- 1 credit into intensive research on the Zakra Siphilae. We need to find out as much as we could about those fellows.
- Have our 10 scouts continue exploring, predominantly to the "galactic west". Start outclaiming everybody else's claims.
- Our greatest telepaths, by now rested, will try to lure out at least twenty male Zakra. They are to be captured and transported to the location of the queens. Start a limited, well-guarded breeding program, prefferibly on a moon somewhere where they can't start any of those cliched "government research insectoid aliens breaking out of the lab" thingies.
- Use our elite units and Fighter-Scouts to hunt down and destroy the remaining insects back on the planet. Use nukes (limitedly) if other methods fail - after all, we have a lot of experience with nukes having nuked three tenths of our planet with those once and thus should be able to clean them up later.
- Secretly monitor our colonial militia on Oros. Can't risk having a rebellion - sure, they might be an "Associated Colony" of the Alean Dominion of Aron, but they shouldn't get it too much into their heads.
