STARWARS EPISODE 3 - talk about it (Spoilers)

Spoiler :
There was an interesting subtely in that seen. Anakin had his two lightsabres crossed.... it was at this nexus at which he turned to the dark side.... the rest was procedural.

In this scene, he had two lightsabres, one blue and one red. I believe one was his, and one was Dooku's (I've only seen it once, but that will change soon... :P )

Later, he demanded a trial for palaptine, as some sort of sense of justice, he claimed loyalty to the republic in this case, yet in the Dooku scene, he did as Palpatine asked... no trial.

I've seen it 3 times this week. I gotta say, it's getting tiring. If you really must know, the first time was with some friends, the second was with some girls I met while going to the first time(;)), and the last time was with...my mom. I'd say the last two balance each other out nerdiness-wise.

Some thoughts-

There definitely is a Millenium Falcon type ship in that scene when they land.

Dooku was Sidious's apprentice, of course he knew him. He did not think he would be killed, even if he knew he was a sacrifice.

I liked the "Noooooo" this last time around. I'm not sure why.

Star Wars is way more fun when flanked by girls on both sides. Interesting how that works out.

Atleast your mom wasn't with you muttering "unbeleivable" the whole way through it. Sometimes I just want to tell her to shut up, she is so annoying during movies.

I saw it with my mother and sister because my friends weren't interested, and the ones that were had already seen it multiple times.

It was awesome, though, because the theatre was also filled with little kids. I thought they would be annoying, but they proved to just be very cute, occaisonally yelling things out like, "Look its a bunch of Chewbaccas!"

I saw it with my brother and his friend, a female. They are not boyfriend girlfriend, but they seem to act that way. It is a very confusing relationship from my POV>.

Please. When I was watching Harry Potter and the PRisoner of Azkaban, at the part in which Harry is looking in the Divination room and Professor Trelawney's hand suddenly grabbed him by the shoulder, my mother screamed. Out loud. In a movie theater. She also runs out of the theater if somethng scary is happening(the spiders are coming and things like that).

When I saw it the second time, at the part in which Anikin executes Count Dooku, a kid behind me exclaims, "Saber Scissors!" I laughed and laughed and laughed.

I don't think you read the story.

my favorite part was when obi wan said "i have the high ground dont try it" and anniken jumped and got his legs cut off by obi's lightsaber. then he caught i fire. i was laughing through that whole part... pretty much everyone in the theater was looking at me right there... (im not sadistic, really)... i also liked the part where R2D2 sprayed oil all over the droids and then set them on fire, that was funny. also the random screaming that R2 was doing was funny.

Saw it a few days ago, took me intill now to read through this thread though :D

I thought the film was great!
It was a good way to link up 1+2 with the originals, and I think that when you watch through 1 to 6 you will see how well the third film works. Also I think that 1 and 2 are 'better' when you can see how they connect with 3. Sure I have some minor complaints, but I have minor complaints with every film!

In fact after reading this thread I think I am gonna have to go watch A New Hope! :D

You really do need to (as Lucas has said) think of all 6 as just one big film. Me and my girlfriend agreeded taht when it's out on DVD we shall have to have a couple fo StarWars days and watch them all in a row :D

(Spoilers......)

I liked seeing the Wookies, that bit was cool. Showing a young Moff Tarnkin was also great, though to be honest I was probably the only one in the cinema to notice that :D

Order 66 was great, I would have liked more scenes of Jedi's being killed, though the bit where Yoda and Obi Wan return to the temple and alter the signal was good because that goes in line with the whole Darth Vader hunting down Jedi thing that gets mentioned in the originals. I thought that the fight scenes where all really good. I was also pleased at them showing so many planets, it gave a real 'galaxy wide' feeling to the film.

the beast of the 3 new ones, still no chance aginst the old ones!..

vader saying NOOOoOooooooooooooo was a bit wired, and didnt seem like something he whold say...
then padmes acting was poor at beast..

The third guy when the Emporer and Vader were observing the foundations of the Death Star. He was also in A New Hope he was in charge of the death star. You may remember the line 'Evacuate, in our moment of triumph'

Thats him?!!! How cool :D
I always liked his "Ceasery" looks....

Yup!

He was basically 'boss' of the Death Star. Gave the order to fire and so on.

This IS a spoiler thread, so I won't hide my comments.

I liked it. Very cool, and I'm not sure why anyone would compare it to other movies as it's the sixth release in a series how the story develops is the important thing.

I agree with Neomega largely, but how come no-one is praising Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan? He took on the part very well in EpI considering he was taking over from one of the best actors of all time (Alec Guinness ).
But he was always a bit wussy, a bit flim flam, goody two shoes etc. he reveals himself over the course of this film as being a full-on hard-ass Jedi Knight, he's so good he even gives Vader a chance to get away cos he knows he won't be beaten.
The character drew serious emotional value too, in tracking down his closest friend - "like a brother to me" he says a couple of times - but faces what he must do. I rate Ewan's performance as the best in the movie by some way.

(Just wanted to divide the post up a bit)

Secondly, Anakin's move to the dark side is the real story here and there were weak points. I liked how Lucas chose the route to conversion, but like many I felt it not quite believable.

Anakin develops from a regular child, given great power, supposedly reigned in by the rigid Jedi structure. They state he is already too old to train, so we know he's not going to be the perfectly balanced monk-like figure the others are. Plus he's already naturally headstrong and over confident, regular features of most teenagers - as he passes through adolescence he can't reconcile the power he has against the things he cannot, or should not, change i.e. the death of loved ones. This rings true in real life.

In this episode we see that the Jedi continue to dstrust him, and remember this is what ten-fifteen(?) years of distrust, Palpatine goads him, the Jedi Council starts breaking it's own rules, he's become disallusioned with his world (again with the teen-angst), then threatened by the death of his wife he takes the only clear path ahead of him.

For me the scene with him in the Jedi chamber alone contemplating his move to the darkside was the best bit.

But, then he starts butchering everyone minutes after saving Palpatine - a little too quick for my liking and a bit shocking too.

Good point. Ewan McGregor did a fantastic job. Probably the best in the whole movie.
