Do you like the two new wonders, the Statue of Zeus and the Knights Templar?

I like them alot. 1 awesome unit every five turns for free is great!

I love em. the units are great, and they give you a chance if you dont have horses or iron.

I like them both. I usually do my best to build them both. Even if I am not playing a military game, nevertheless they are good for either easing the defense burden or just to use for production by disbanding them in my cities...

I have not managed to get the Statue of Zues yet, as there is never any ivory around. And by the time you get into the Middle Age I find that the Ancient Cavalry get outdated very fast. MDI and Knights are much better to have IMO. The Crusader is still useful up to Rifleman

that the same here. it tough getting the ivory. but i heard it very powerful if you can get it early

I guess the SoZ (Statue of Zeus) should require both, iron AND ivory...

Anyway, the concept of unit-creating wonders is great and offers unlimited possibilities for own modifications :goodjob:

SoZ is a bit "pushed". Why?
2 in the first time is a bit too much.
And there is no real reason to make SoZ giving a military unit...
It's too unbalancing some times, when you have so few resources...
It should be added, but not this way!

Knights Templar: Good idea to introduce Wonders that give units
If one was to be in, this should be it.
Good timing (when most wars are fought...)
Crusader is a must in an historical game.
The unit and the wonder are very well conected and are pretty cool.

SoZ should give something cultural.
Knights Templar is cuposed to give Military aid.

Both are great, especially if you want to try a OCC. You'd have your own army while building wonders and cultural improvements (or, vice versa if you're going for a one-city-conquest).

and why should the great statue of the al mighty Zeus only give somthing cultural?

after all, Zeus was the main god prayed to, along with Nike, for victory in battle

The Statue of Zeus is a little too random for my liking. But I like it still. Although it can be a game breaker, or atleast help to be.

I do think the SoZ should be more expensive. It's one of the cheaper wonders currently, which seems odd to me. I wonder if they did that to "offset" the fact that it is only available if you have ivory? If that was their thinking, I think they should have thought otherwise. The fact that you need ivory doesn't make it mroe *difficult* to get the SoZ--it just adds a luck factor to the equation. The price for building the SoZ shouldn't change as a result...

I agree- the SOZ needs to be more expensive- to help offset the luck factor of being close to ivory...

In my current game, the Aztecs managed to build the Knights Templar pretty early. Immediately after I declare war on them, they sent this big stack of Crusaders.

Good thing I had a dozen cavalry waiting for them... :D

lol, that's a lot!

in my modded version of [c3c]conquests[c3c], ancient cavalry upgrades to cavalry and crusaders upgrade to guerillas so that this sort of thing doesn't happen in the modern era

I love them both though I find the SoZ too powerful.

The Statue of Zeus is very powerful indeed. I was playing a pangea, small, random game as the Dutch on Emperor. I was in a long and slow war against Carthage (late ancient). They were to my West, France to the North, and America AND China to my West. It was a hard game, and I had to risk leaving most of my cities undefended in order to contain Cathage. Everyone was at war with their neighbors . Anyway, I gave France a RoP since they were at war with Carthage as well. They sent hordes of Ancient Cavalry racing through my territory, and luckily by the time Carthage was defeated I got all but 3 towns (I was the cherrypicker, with my vastly outnumbered forces waiting to attack a town when France had left it with only one defender :goodjob: ). During the entire war, I had to sit in fear as the massive french army galloped past my undefended cities :( . They had dozens of ancient cavalry with so many hitpoints each. It is truly powerful, I can't wait till I get a chance to build it.

Anyway , two turns after the war was over, the Gracious Saint Joan D'Arc declared war on me :D . That's when I retired [punch] .
