Status and "To Do" List

Downloaded BTS Gold 3.0 beta and works great!

Has a few minor leader graphic glitches but haven't seen anything that degrades play.

It's nice to get back many of the leaders I became accustomed to in Warlords Gold and had to give up when I got BTS.

Great job to all involved!

 :) :goodjob:

I've only played 1 game clear through but looked at the leaders briefly from the civlopedia. Everything I've found is minor. My desktop computer with the ATI card has more issues with displaying the leaders properly. My laptop has an NVIDIA chipset and does a lot better. Unless specified the problems I'll report here are the same on both machines.

Lincoln's skin looks like it has bright shiny blotches all over. It's worse on the ATI card and sparkles there. The Nvidia is noticable but not as sparkly.

David's Crown is very transparent and almost invisible. I'm not quite sure if you meant it to not be there or not. You can see it's very light outline when he moves.

Atheas' eye lids are only a line and are transparent. It's kind of creepy when he closes his eyes. The lids move to close but you can still see his eyes.

When Hassan tilts his head back, it looks like his hat is floating around his head and sometimes intersects it. Something about the background and hat. I noticed this on one of the Sioux indians too.

Lenana, Mbatian and Eyadema's mouth sometimes look like sparks are going off inside. The white teeth are sparkly.

And of course you already mentioned the dual Sitting Bulls.

That's all I've noticed thus far. It's going to be a few days before I play again.

It's a great mod as it doubles the number of civs and leaders BTS has. Thanks again for a great mod.

Mini-progress report for Final:

Done

- replaced UU art for Indonesia (Kopassus)
- replaced UU art for Pakistan (SSG)
- replaced UU art for Magyar (Huszar)

In progress

- adding Makeda as 2nd leader for Yemen
- adding Selassie as 2nd leader for Ethiopia
- adding Hirohito as 2nd leader for Japan
- adding Menzies as 2nd leader for Australia
- blocking King and Jean as leaders for Canada (for balance)
- replacing flag for Assyria (standardizing with other flags)
- replacing LH art for Yagan (using esnaz's model)
- adding Rabbit, White's Ethnically Diverse Units
- adding Geomodders' ethnic city tilesets

To consider:

We need to deal with the overlap between thye Firaxis Native American Empire and the 3.0 Sioux (not to mention 4.0 native civ additions)

One bug to report (although you probably know this already): Ho Chi Minh's Diplo text still doesn't work properly.

As for the Native American thing, I'd reassign the Firaxis Sitting Bull leaderhead to the Sioux (replacing the Lakota version of Sitting Bull that you already have). If possible, you might also want to reassign the Firaxis Totem Pole to some west coast tribe, like the Haida.
I'm not sure what you could do with the Dog Soldier. What tribe would have used them?

Old bug that got missed. Thanks!

Great minds think alike. :)

Yes, that's what we were discussing - move Sitting Bull to the Sioux, and - when 4.0 comes out - move the Totem Pole to Tillikum (Haida, Bella Coola, Chinook) and the Dog Soldier to the Voestaneoo (Cheyenne, Metis). In fact, the Dog Soldier *is* the UU for that civ already. But I have them on horseback...as they were historically.

I've also noticed that the Diplomacy Music for Canada doesn't seem to work.

Thanks for letting us know. We'll put it on the list. It looks like a change in a folder name got reverted somehow. "Canada's Soundpack" should be named "Soundpack".

Hey Wyz,

Glad to see that CIV Gold is still chuggin' along. It looks like you've gotten a lot more help these days. I'm looking forward to 4.0 so I can see a few of those LH's I did for you in action. :D

Hope all is going well with you & yours.

Spotted miss spelling in one Finnish city; Kirkkonnumi, it should be Kirkkonummi. And do you only add cities to civs that they currently have under control or could you add those that had been originally for example Finnish?

It would be great if that is taken under consideration and if you agree, then I suggest adding Viipuri, Käkisalmi, Sortavala and Petsamo or some town or city in Petsamo, that are shown here (if it isn't possible to put ä in names, use a instead). Three first is shown on map here

And back to play some more!

Fixed, thank you.

I don't mind adding former Finnish cities, but I try not to make additions that will offend anyone. :)

Yeah, but I think or at least hope it wouldn't offend anyone any more than any other civs cities that are former/original cities of another civ.

At the least I would hope, that people would at least respect history as it is and wouldn't get pissed from adding it like it is. Even though I know there are people like that, sadly :/ Not so sure if anyone has anything against adding those cities to Finland though, as it is a historical fact.

No, I was only kidding. I don't think most people would mind...mainly because these cities aren't in the Balkans. :D If we were talking about Greece or Croatia or Romania or Albania or Macedonia, then putting a city on the "wrong" list would result in a 43-page thread about the origin of the word "butter" and the true lineage of someone's uncle's brother's cousin's nephew. :p

Be careful Wyz, there are a lot more of these sensitive issues in Europe going on besides the ones in the Balkans. Personally I think it would be best to go with current names for cities. Mainly to avoid those threaded historical discussions.

We've generally kept with current names for that reason. I think national sensitivity isn't something you can completely avoid in a game like this - not even at Firaxis' end. At the end of the day, though, people need to remember that it is, indeed, a game.

Good thing our modular approach gives people the ability to respond if we make any "bad" decision. :)

Mini-progress report #3:

- added Phillip II to Greece
- added Hirohito to Japan
- added Cetshwayo to Zulu
- added Canute to Vikings
- added Sejong to Korea

Still a few things to clean up and add. I'll see what I can get done in two days, then release the Final version. Other additions will wait until 4.0

I thought those leaders were already a part of CivGold. Are these new revised versions?

Most of them are the same ones you probably know from earlier Civ Gold versions. Some were removed with each version because Firaxis added new civilizations with Warlords and BTS and that led to overlap with Civ Gold. We decided to re-include them in BTS Civ Gold 3.0 in a modular fashion.
