Venturing out of thier small island, the Danes have established a small village on the new lands they have named after the explorer Otto Jut, Jutland. Excited about the new lands, many young adults volunteer to enter the army.

In Western Europe, King Teodor of Brittany has ordered a massive expansion. Many Brittanians eagerly venture out into the new lands to settle, and Brittany has increased almost 50%. Near the outskirts of Brittany, though, are barbarian tribes who are becoming quit jealous of the Brittanians....

In the small kingdom of Albania, Macedonian warriors have been pillaging farms and villages for nearly a century. What makes it worse now is the fact that Albania is expanding to the south, where the Macedonians live. Many Albanians are demanding the King think up a solution to end the problem.

In Northern Africa, the Carthaginian civilization has awoke and started growing. They hug the coasts in thier expansion though, to best use thier natural ability, fishing and ship making. A tribe of Libyans has been found, but they are small in number and easily disposed of, as long as thier not ignored.

In Northeastern Africa, the peoples of Antafan have began to fan out. Unlike thier Carthaginian counterparts, they have expanded more inwards.

In the Middle East, the village of Dhubai has become a trade hub for people all over the Middle East, mainly from tribes and villages bordering the Persian Gulf (+1 economy). With all thier riches, the people of Qutar are anxious to find more lands to settle and trade from. To thier south, though, brew the people of Saud, who would like nothing more than to crush their trade nation.....

In Japan, chaos reigns. The island of Honshu has been split into atleast 6 different factions vying for power. The most stable and powerful are the Japanese and Kyoto tribes. In an attempt to unify the island, the Japanese have invaded the Niigata faction. So far with thier highly trained Samurai and large army, they have taken half of the faction and are near the capital.

Would you be interested in an alliance to rid Honshu of the Kyoto and Matsue factions?

Notes/OOC

Real NPC's will be added next update. If this expansion looks a little fast or slow, dont be afraid to tell me what you think.

Those who didnt send orders got thier economy raised and expansion, no biggy on missing orders this turn anyway since I wasnt too clear on whether to wait or not.

The trade in Quatar isnt like the trade of venice or spain in the 1600's, just basic bartering of goods.

If it seems kinda dry, dont worry, things will pick up. Gotta shake off some of that mod dust :p

IC:

The fireplace has grown. Since the faithful night when the Warrior Council was formed, many warriors died and were born. Teodor was long dead, but his great grandson, also named Teodor, was the greatest warrior of his time, and he, just like his great grandfather, was always agreed with in the council, was Tarun's greatest Champion, and ruled all of Brittany from the fortified (wooden stakes on a hill for now) village - Tarun's Fort.

He was only a bit younger then his great grandfather long ago, who now probably was Tarun's second in command - as far as that went. While Brittany had great warriors, they were undisciplinned and prideful. Though Teodors that "reigned" before have created some sort of a command system, it was primitive, and no tactics or strategy were developed yet. Teodor knew that something like that, along with effective discipline and command system was to be created one day, but also knew it was not the time, as even he himself had often charged into the middle of the bloodshed when young.

Now, there was another matter.

"The very tribes that have tried to stop Tarun from leading us here have united again, and seek to destroy us!"

"Tarun will not allow it."

"Indeed! For Tarun spoke to me in my dreams, and told me, that while we shall guard Brittany, we are to conquer all others, for they worship the very evil Tarun banished!"

"What?! They must all be killed!"

"No! Tarun told me that we are to bring the true faith to them no matter what, but why slaughter them, if their children shall become Brittanians?"

"What? Children of pigs remain pigs!"

"If Tarun wills it," - spoke an elderly warrior with a broken arm and a long scar running down his cheek - "they can become wolves"

"Indeed, so day, we start war and conquest!"

And once more, all warriors cheered. The next day, 100 more men were chosen to be warriors, and 50 more warriors became the Champions of Tarun.

Orders:

- Grow army, both usual and UU.
- Invade southern barbarians with 100 men and 50 UUs.
- Invade southeastern barbarians with 200 men.
- Invade eastern barbarians with 200 men.
- Once the conquest of barbarians is complete, offer all barbarians to convert to the Tarunist faith and to become Brittanians.
- Those who agree should be trained as warriors or, if they are specialists (healers, etc...), should be allowed to either remain who they are, either train as warriors.
- Those who disagree are to be enslaved and sent to improve our economy, build new villages, fortify Tarun's Fort, etc...

The scene sets in at a large tree. Two people are speaking but the words can not be made out. Shinju was giving his best messenger a message to bring to the Niigata people. He wishes to avoid further violence.

He sighs and steps away.
"I didn't know they had the capacity to form states... I underestimated them. However they will unite under kyoto, it is the only way we shall survive."

Later that night was to adress his people. What would he say? How would they react? He was about to find out.

"Great people of Kyoto! We are nearing victory in the north. But a new danger has revealed itself to the south! We must defend ourselves with the fire of our spirits if we are to survive! We are the people of Kyoto! We shall not perish!"

And the crowd than erupted into cheers. It was a short message but it was full of energy. The people were energized by their leaders courage and ambition. They too wanted to unite the people of Japan. They too wanted to build the greatest empire ever seen.

From : Kyoto
To : Niigata Leaders

As you can see our mighty samurai and zealous warriors are nearing your capital. We urge you to surrender or more unneeded violence will erupt. Will you save your people or cause their destruction?

That isn't to say that surrendering doesn't have it's perks. You will have a say in governing your lands, however not a big part in government you will be able to speak for your people. You will always be consulted in manners that affect your people in any way. I believe this will be the only way both states can survive under one banner. If you do not surrender we will be forced to take your lands by force and thus your people will be miserable. Who will you think of first, yourselves or your people?

Orders :
Wait for response from Niigata, if they surrender increase army. If they resist push further north until the state is taken.
Continue construction on the Grand Temple of Kyoto (Increase confidence)

-Carthage, City on the Coast-
-3800 BC-

Hannibal Barca, named after his grandfather who ordered the expansion of the Carthaginian land holdings, had called together the tribal council not long after returning from his one-man expedition into the waters to the north of Carthage.

He stood before the mighty warriors, wise elders, the spiritual advisors, and his own father and brother, Hamilcar I and II, his primitive spear being used to help support his hurt [but healing] leg. At last the time came for him to speak, and speak he did.

"I have called for this tribal council meeting to discuss matters that are integral to the empire's future," said Hannibal smoothly. Many of the councilmen nodded; the Libyan tribes to the east were weak, but gobbled up much precious land for expansion. He continued, "Our navy, for instance."

There was an unnervingly long pause.

"Navy, dear brother?" asked Hamilcar II, concerned. "There is little to build a navy for. The only good thing the ocean can provide is food. There is nothing to look for otherwise."

Most of the councilmen gave grunts of approval or nodded their heads to this. Hannibal remained expressionless, staring Hamilcar II straight in the eyes. Finally, he spoke, "Brother, I have discovered an island across the water. It is a nice island, an excellent place to expand to!"

Yet another long pause. Murmurs spread through the meeting hut like wildfire.

"This island is truly there, Hannibal?" asked his father, Hamilcar I. He nodded briskly.

"Yes, it is. The land is excellent and would work well to our needs." responded Hannibal. Hamilcar I thought for a moment. An island with excellent land that was not too far away seemed unthinkable to him. But if his younger son had discovered it...

"Very well, then. Hannibal, I will see to the expansion of our navy. You will lead our navy to this island, yes?"

"I shall personally lead the expeditionary forces to it, yes." Hannibal, despite his injured leg, was still as adventuresome as ever.

"Good. Then the expansion onto this island will begin soon. What about the Libyans?"

Hamilcar II finally spoke, "I say we kill the barbarians." A cheer rose amongst the meeting hut, mostly from the warriors.

Hannibal, however, wasn't cheering. "I think not, brother. They are weak, so why not exploit it?" A grin crossed his face. "We are far stronger than the Libyans will ever be, so let us send warriors -- a large number, maybe two hundred and fifty -- to their villages. There, we can offer them integration into our society. If they agree, they may join our military or, perhaps, set up a new city or something. Anything which benefits Carthage."

Hamilcar II looked skeptical. "What if they resist?"

"They are ignorant, not stupid. Those who resist shall be killed or turned into slaves. But only those who resist."

Hamilcar II smiled. The answer suited him well. "Good, good. Then we're done?"

"Not quite." spoke Hamilcar I. "I want to see expansion along to coast to our west to continue. I have seen the land myself, and it appears adequate."

"Then if that's all, let us depart. May the Ancestors bless you all!" spoke Hannibal.

Orders:

1) Build at the most five more canoes to add to the Carthaginian "Navy".

2) Send all five canoes to explore and expand onto the island to the east of Carthage's coastline. That's Sicily, isn't it?

3) Send at most 250 warriors to the Libyan territory to try and convince the Libyans to join the Carthaginian Empire.

4) Use 100 warriors to expand to the west.

Story:
NOthing to write about yet

The little city had grown. The Antafanese tribes now controlled land several days as the bird flies in all directions. They lived in villages, near oasis', streams, wells, and good soil. The villages were within little paliside walls, filled with various little huts and houses. The most well-off families lived in flat roof mudbrick houses, around the center. Near the center would be a temple, built from mudbrick and stone. There the priest would welcome all seeking counsel whenever they came, and sometimes offer prophecies regarding their future. The priest was the most powerfull man in the village behind the Chiefatin. The Chiefatin would lead the village in all tribal conflicts, but had to answer to the Grand Epsip; master of the tribes. The Grand Epsip lived in Akolakok in his great palace. He was chosen by the gods to lead the Antafanese to glory, and no petty tribal chiefatin dared to question his orders. Next to the Grand Epsip, lived the Great Priest of the Antafanese lands; supreme religious leader of the people. As such, the Great Priest had much sway over the decisions of the Grand Epsip. At one point, the Great Priest convinced the Grand Epsip Manjahan of the Makal line, to start work on a great temple. It would be the most magnificent in the world, reaching high towards the heavens, mimicking the Mountains far off in the South, and offering praise to the mightiest of gods; Imak. Instead of being restrained to some silly village temples, the Antafanese could worship at the greatest one in the world; effectively making Akolakok the center of the world according to both men and gods.

- Increase army once
- Expand as you can Westwardm along coast
- Try working on wheel to speed up expansion
- Change goverment to tribalism
- Begin wonder, the Great Pyramid of Imak (Doubles area)

OOC: Look at how expansion went in stJNES5 early on... that's what you want to mimick.
