Yet, for now, CivFanatics does not require me to log in for any modification.
Nor is it necessary to log into CF for playing Civ4.
You are seeing the difference?
I didn't realize you had paid for those mods and Civ4 through CivFanatics, I am deeply embarrassed to have made such a mistake.
Which in turn means of having paid for it months ago and by that granting the distribution service (Steam) a credit - yet without interest.
Well, that is assuming the value of the money doesn't change over the course of those months. I could be losing money.
Though Gabe Newell (he's with Valve, you haven't really demonstrated a great deal of knowledge about the company so I don't want to make any assumptions) has mentioned that they are considering setting up a player-investment system for funding game development. I know being forward-thinking is alien to some, but if you think about it real hard, you can see the potential advantages for such a system.
You are correct, there are much more users than just me.
And quite some of them are of the same opinion as I am and therefore will not buy the game.
In turn this means that 2K have shot themselves into their own feet.
I remember hearing the same sort of complaint a few moments before Half-Life 2 sold as many copies as it did. I don't remember those users laughing afterward, either.
Undoubtably, it does. Yet, much worse than the other way around.
Agreed. I can't really run that fast.
As we see, some people simply can't.
I see what you mean. It is somewhat difficult to classify a discussion in which only a single participant brings any facts or firsthand knowledge of the subject an "argument."
Quite correct. And so are Steam's so-called "achievements", aren't they?
Though I am sure such a man would at least utter "Steam sucks" in his dying breath, because he's a witty man, and doesn't afraid of anything.
The T-Rex evolved as well. Are they still running around?
I have often called CD-checks the dinosaur of DRM.
I do not need to try out automatic weapons to know that they may be lethal.
So, the argument of not having tried Steam is quite invalid when it is obvious that there is no point in having to use Steam for the purpose of a single-player game.
Ah, but that's a poor analogy. "Lethality" would, in this case, be more a statement of fact- no one has denied that "Steam is a program that connects to the internet and allows users to purchase and play games." We are discussing nuances and necessity of a particular firearm when you have never touched it in your life.
To enlighten the people who urgently do need such enlightenment.
Take me like a teacher: sometimes it is hard to teach even the less qualified students, yet the teacher stays uncomplaining and still does his best.
Forgive me for saying so, but if my teacher offered an incredibly firm opinion on something and then admitted to have no experience with it at all and that it was just a moderately educated guess, I would lose a bit of respect for that individual. Because that's not an opinion on fact, it's a preconception. And the path to enlightenment is not in assumption.
