By actually playing the game all I can say is that there are so many beautiful little details that never came up in any review/stream from folks with a play to conquer attitude.

I'd love to hear any examples. I usually play Civ very peacefully, and enjoy the historical touches and making my digital people happy.

The Great Works, ie Codex's, should have actual historical names/titles, to deepen historical immersion. Generic codexes are quite boring.

That said, if this forces them to do a lot of effort on this UI all the better. It really is trash.

The variety of terrain for one. I just discovered a Mangrove Forest and it is nice to see how it contrasts with the Tundra I started in. The Burning Arrows unit has a very satisfying sound effect when firing arrows. etc.

Yes and the storyline builds. I've had a whole arc about Himiko having visions on a holy mountain.

I'm sorry to say this but the bulk of reviewers on Steam are acting like a bunch of babies.

I mean they paid $100 or more for a game and most of them haven't actually refunded it. I think it's fair on their part to be a little needy.

Ben Franklin's introductory line when you first meet him in game is classic, funny and witty. I love it!

I have to say, Civ 7 is a BEAUTIFUL GAME. I'm getting Civ 5 vibes.

I just spent about 15 minutes looking at Steam reviews and I'm not seeing that much of that. Most of the negative reviews mention the UI, bugs/startup problems, or a lack of features (i.e. map sizes, custom setups, small number of civs). Most positive reviews mention the UI being a problem too.
