Steam users with early access: START YOUR DOWNLOADS. Yes now.

By actually playing the game all I can say is that there are so many beautiful little details that never came up in any review/stream from folks with a play to conquer attitude.

I'd love to hear any examples. I usually play Civ very peacefully, and enjoy the historical touches and making my digital people happy.

Yes but they are going far beyond that, akin to "Firaxis shattered my life with this new faux game". That is the type of reviews I'm seeing.
This is user reviews for you. No nuance.
That said, if this forces them to do a lot of effort on this UI all the better. It really is trash.

The variety of terrain for one. I just discovered a Mangrove Forest and it is nice to see how it contrasts with the Tundra I started in. The Burning Arrows unit has a very satisfying sound effect when firing arrows. etc.

I need a new machine though. I can run it okay but at lower settings

If you don't have early access do check out our Civ 7 video thread.

I'm wasting my time in job, because it's 1 PM Thursday here :/

But this weekend will be the fantastic Civ days for me!

5:11 AM early start, but it's downloading. 10 mins is manageable, just enough to make me a coffee :coffee:

Hoping to get a few hours in before work

I just spent about 15 minutes looking at Steam reviews and I'm not seeing that much of that. Most of the negative reviews mention the UI, bugs/startup problems, or a lack of features (i.e. map sizes, custom setups, small number of civs). Most positive reviews mention the UI being a problem too.
