Stellaris

what I mean is that I can barely keep up with micromanaging my core planets, and sectors just do what they're supposed to for me. I'm one of these decadent bureaucrats from the capital who can't be bothered by what happens in the provinces as long as revenue keeps flowing in. And so far for me, it does.

No, the sectors didn't work. It wasn't a challenge. Paradox just sucks and screwed up. They also admitted that all the political parts of sectors that were promised weren't actually in the game at all yet. So they are both bad at programming and liars.

Of course, the only possible conclusion is that they deliberately deceived us, spinning lies born out of some sort of bizarre corporate plan.

This is a joke ?
There is three basic buildings to put on planet, with some internal variation (to get energy, minerals or science). Except if you sleep and wake up once every 15 mn, I don't see how even HAVE to "keep up" with managing 5 planets (I can't even use the word "micromanaging" for that).
Yay, clicking "upgrade" once every few hours on all same-category buildings is hard and requires a lot of time ?

true, it is not a matter of keeping up. It's a matter of being arsed to check every team you research an update when there's more interesting stuff going on elsewhere. I got into the 2400 with Power Plant I in my home planets in spite of all the advances. There's probably a bajillion upgrades I can make to almost all my buildings, but why bother when I already have more surpluses of everything than I will ever need?

So you now basically admit there is nothing to bother with when it comes to empire management, but still happy that sectors remove things to do ?
That's weirdly contradictory.

No it isn't. I like the idea of sectors and the idea that they are delegated rather than managed perfectly even if it were the case that somehow optimizing every planet could be done manually with zero effort.

I also like the idea of sectors, but for now they are just a terrible implementation - there is next to no micromanagement they alleviate, and the ACTUAL micro-management which is annoying (the spaceport spam) is the one they DO NOT.
They also are 100 % negative and a constraint. If they are mandatory, I'd like for them to actually bring some good instead of just being punishment.

That shows that you and I want different things, which is fine. I have no problem with you wanting something different than I do. But it is not true that means my views are self-contradictory. My own views are consistent.

Although I am less than happy that sectors do not develop spaceports, that's by far what I prefer to handle personally, so I like it this way. Still, sectors could be better, yeah. I just haven't seen what people are complaining about all the time.

My holy hydra republic continues to expand, making a vassal of the blue power above I as I prepare to expand for the federation.

The War About Nothing

I'm in my first ever war. I'm playing xenophobic, militaristic, collectivist, desert-dwelling worm guys.

I figured out that when war was declared on me, I was in trouble because the AI ain't stupid. I was right. The enemy fleet turned out to be 50% stronger than me. I started churning out corvettes as fast as I could, but it looks as if I'm heading into a Forever War.

He's got hyperspace drive, level-1 nuke missiles, and no troop transports. He showed up at one of my colonies, bombed the heck out of its planetary defenses, but had nothing with which to land troops with. AFAIK, no damage to my colony. :p

I tried to lure him into my home system, but when he showed up, he quickly realized his fleet was no match for my fleet + space station...and so he left.

I thought about launching raids into his territory to blow up mining stations, etc., but I have wormhold FTL-drive, and his space lies just outside my jump range.

I had hopes when my fleet grew to be almost as strong as his. I have fusion-nukes and point-defense anti-missiles. My admiral give me a 20% increased firing rate, but his admiral gives him a 20% hull bonus. Alas, his second armada showed up, joined with the first, and now again, he's 50% stronger.

This looks as if it will be a looooong war. He and I each need to get transport-ship technology in order to invade. I have the additional problem of not being able to reach his space.

My least worst plan is to build a jump-gate near his space, pray that it's not discovered, and jump in to smash his orbiting mines and power stations. :dunno:

They promised stuff and then didn't have it. But they never said they didn't have it until people bought the game. And now we can pay 10-30$ per DLC to fix that. Its not like they didn't put out what was promised and then cut the game price to make up for it. I mean fine, if you are cool with shelling out 100$ for content that was promised to be in the base game, I guess I'm just jealous I'm not as wealthy as you that I don't care if people are ripping me off.

The first 2 major updates at least are free.

Transport ships generate automatically when you embark assault armies.

You have to understand thy have release dates because they need to make money. Delaying the release date is less money in their coffers to continue development and pay their staff. There is also the full return policy on Steam if anyone is THAT dissatisfied.

I wonder that Hearts Of Iron IV might not have similar issues in the early days of release (release date is June 9th) - not fully featured as promised.

They did delay HoI4 release a few times, I think. So I'd expect a more fully fleshed-out game.

So, I fought a preemptive war against a neighbor because they are fanatical purifiers and I thought it's just a matter of time until they attack me. Now they're my vassals, but they're disloyal and have started sending me insults.
Have I made a mistake ? Should I have conquered some of their worlds just to make sure they'll never be stong enought to pose a threat ?
Can I attack my vassal, and what are the consuequences ?

As far as I'm aware vassals can't attack you so it doesn't really matter currently. I assume at some point in the future they will be able to rebel.

I guess I'm just jealous I'm not as wealthy as you that I don't care if people are ripping me off.

You're the one who keeps buying these games, despite complaining non-stop about Paradox in the worst possible ways. Now I am jealous of your optimism.
