Steph's mod : medieval era

I will do anatomy, capitalism, paper and printing press if it is Ok with you (Steph, can you tell me if you liked Feudalism the way it was or if you prefer my switching to another writing direction).

You should come up with a more innovative name for it, like Kal-el did with Double Your Pleasure, as an example.

The style itself is OK, but could you try to link the text a bit more to the context? Feudalism requires architectures and agricultural revolution, and gives medieval warriors. So adding in the feudalism text some links to the building of castles, which serve as base of the lord power, can be a good idea.
Read the text from Illustrious to see how he links the techs and units together

OK another couple of texts:

Alchemy
Chemistry.

I'll now take:

Metallurgy
Cannon making
Naval tactics
Invention
Gunpowder

As ever, a couple of days should do it.

OK, I will work that way.

More texts attached:

Metallurgy
Cannon making
Naval tactics
Invention
Gunpowder

I'll take one more batch:

Seafaring
Compass
Ocean faring
Fire arms
National army

Well if you need them for the USA, I can get you lists of cities for each Census from 1790 to the present. :)

No, I'm talking about in places like Africa, South East Asia and South America moreso. I don't know how big the populations in these regions was, and as there was no mention of these places in the lists, I'm a bit cautious about comparing them to the ones provided.

Steph, will your mod be for Civ3 or PTW?

Ok, I needed a bit longer this time, but I´ve begun now to do the gfx.

However, to make sure you´ll get the look you want, I need some clarification. Some techs sound not "medieval" eg. "National Army" (nation or nationalism wouldn´t fit to the middle ages IMO, rather to the industrial age). Therefore I´m not sure how the pic for this tech should look like.

Other problems:

- chemistry
- education
- printing press

There are icons for these techs from the original Civ - can´t you use them? If not, how should the new pics look like?

Some of my ideas (to make sure they fit into your plans):

- Cavalry tactics (Renaissance knights? - since the attached gfx for "early cav. tactics has Norman style knights, ca. 11th century))
- naval tactics (Lepanto style galeass?)

And what is viticulture (left from the ancient tech tree) ;)

PTW. I will use some of the new flags (ignore terrain cost), and the new graphics for Japan and WWII

Well, it's a bit tricky. The pb is we have only 4 eras. So my "medieval" era start with the building of castle, and finished roughly just after Napoelonic wars. I will need to find a better name.
Then Industrial Age start after Napoleonic wars, and last until the end of WWII. Then it's Modern Age, including a few future techs and units.
I've done this to avoid having to many tech/unit in later ages, and to few in medieval age.
At a time, I've thought to call the second age "gunwpoder age", and have the pure medieval tech back in the first age.

OceanFaring is nice, but I think I will perhaps use it more for SeaFaring. OceanFaring in my mind would be better portrayed by Columbus's ship arriving near strange exotic shores.

National army correspond to Napoleonic wars armies, when huge armies, having a strong national feeling, replaced the old king's armies. The picture could show a small army defending the national flag.

You are right : I can keep existing icone for Education, Chemistry and Printing press.

For cavalry tactics : they come after fire arms. So Early cav tactics should show the use of the first dragoons, or hussars (Chivalry is the tech that could use your graphics, and will probably use it, as I find the original icones a bit ugly)

Naval tactics gives frigate : so it should show this kind of ships, using batteries of guns.
