stEspIINES - Realised Dreams

Ortorix woke up, groggilly getting out of bed. That triumphant march was absolutely SPECTACULAR! The Druids proclaimed it the beginning of a new age, an age in which Alesia is supreme!

Unfortunately, the war left the country bankrupt. The military spending was great. But Ortorix was an optimist! The income gained from this conquest would be huge! And in a few years the military spending could resume.

Ortorix attended the religous services by the druids. He needed to plan his next move, and perhaps seeking the solace of the Gods could help him.

The Arch Druid Baravax spoke. "O men of knowledge! Today we must interpret the signs from above, and the will of the Gods be known. Even if one among us today is not a man of knowledge."

The Arch Druid raised his staff in the air, and looked at the stars, as the other druids, one from each tribal city-state (even the colonies) slowly walked in a circle around him, chanting: "Rix dona adrax matias onios." Meaning: Rix, we implore you to give us a sign.

A comet flew across the sky. The druids, though incredibly excited, were able to restrain themselves, and kept up the pace and the chant.

"Ah. So both the great hope and the great fear has come, men of knowledge! For a comet, when flying to the south, can only mean that with a great victory comes a great price, druids." The Arch Druid seemed to become entranced. "Great Chieftain, druids, follow to the looking-pool!"

The looking pool was an undisturbed pond in a clearing just 100 yards from the clearing they already were in. Most of the time the trees sheltered from the wind, so the pond's waters were undisturbed alot, making it seem as a mirror.

"Son of the Wolf and the Bear, I implore you to look into the looking-pool, for I have suspicions that the comet involves you, great and noble King," said the Arch Druid.

Ortorix looked and saw a vision. Ortorix was upon a great hill, in a Great Hall looking over a grander city. But as he was standing on the balcony, ravens came upon him. They began to devour him. But he saw, that emerging from the palace as he lay on to balcony another king. His son, no doubt.

He saw far and wide, his son, or whoever this new king of Alesia is, conquer many lands, and Alesia's might is uncontested. He saw into the next age, beyond the age they are in now.

Ortorix looked up from the pool, and the Arch Druid took him aside, to discuss what he saw in private.

Orders and More Story Coming Soon!

increasing hygiene - you need to sya how or I cant really do it, do u build sewers, do u introduce laws to stop people throwing garbage into the street / rivers, do you bring fresh running water into the city to allow people to wash, what? thats why that wasn't done.

Thank you for clearing most of that up. :)

Hover, for the hygiene thing, I'd much rather have my people develop that then give you plans and specs for bathtubs and aqueducts. None of the stuff you mentioned has even been developed (or little of it), so why should I put it in my orders? I want my people to figure it out, not me to bless them with modern technology from another age. :)

OOC Haha das 1,000 more troops? You're going to destroy your economy...

IC:

Just another regular day for Aunoidaz and his mates. The group of about 25 axemen, spearmen, and archers trudged through the jungle on their scheduled patrol.

Why did they still do these patrols? thought Aunoidaz. There's nothing in the jungle except trees, plants, more trees, the occasional interesting bird... Oh yeah, he thought, patrolling is supposed to "build alertness", so said his commanders. Aunoidaz spit on the ground.

As the patrol group turned left around a small cliff protruding from the jungle floor, Aunoidaz thought he saw something out of the corner of his right eye... a flash of red and yellow...

Aunoidaz held up his hand, and the whole group immediately stopped, and bent low, weapons at the ready.
There! Several meters to the right of the group, he saw it again! He raised his head a little to get a better view, and his mouth fell open in shock...

Story to be continued...

Orders:
Build several new cities, some to the south, but mostly to the west, we are looking to break out of the jungle...
Look for new ways to improve the fruit farming, i.e. experimenting with different types of soil to see in which one the trees grow best, and once it is improved, build several new large fruit farms all around the jungle to feed the growing population and increase my economy.
Build great temples in every large settlement to worship Khuzamua, the Khaumasi god. (and increase culture)
Build 5 of the new canoe-warships, which shall be called "Vemezhi" (Khaumasi for "Large Fish") and train all the rowers, archers and warriors that will man them.
Train 100 archers, 50 axemen, and 50 spearmen for my regular land army. Begin advanced training programs to improve the fighting skills of the existing ones.

become large
become healthy
become strong military
grow economy lots

and that is just boring for me, and for u lot.

Warlord - I raised a thousand or so troops last turn, and my economy seems to have came out alright. ;) My secret is, ofcourse, slavery! Now, for the first time, all the Mitsarian young men can leave the farming to slaves and go to kill some people all around us and get some more slaves, and so on, and so on! ;)

And besides, we're a bunch of crazy religious fanatics. Do you think we care about economy?

Ah slaves, haha maybe I should employ some.

I'll continue my story, then, I suppose.
------------------

So... Aunoidaz raised his head a little to get a better view, and his mouth fell open in shock...

Standing just a few meters off the trail were two men. But the men were unlike any other Aunoidaz or any of his mates had ever seen. They both wore bright red and yellow clothing all over their body, and each carried a sharp-looking weapon that was made out of some sort of shiny material. Although one of the men had light black hair and the other had dark brown hair, they both had surprisingly light skin. Neither of the men had noticed Aunoidaz or his group, who were crouching low in the foliage.

The two men were speaking in a strange tounge. Aunoidaz decided to find out who they were. He motioned for all of his comrades to stand up. Aunoidaz stood up and approached the strange men.
"Who be you, strangers?" he said.

The men immediatley turned and stared at the approaching Khaumasi soldiers, who were all clad in little more than fur loincloth and a headband, carrying stone axes, stone spears, bows and arrows, and brightly decorated wooden shields.
Both of the strange men, obviously startled, turned and ran off into the jungle.
Aunoidaz turned to his men and scratched his head.
"We shall turn and go back to the city at once! The good Commander must hear of this."

Who do you think the two strange men were?

Sendin' em early.

Orders

-Continue building roads. Try to encourage inter-city trade, in order to boost revenue. Any trade is to have a small tariff, to even further increase profits. Hopefully the prospective merchants of the newly-founded cities shall bite, and this will assure maximum profitability.

-Work on various sanitation projects in the central areas of the empire. This will hopefully allow for the population to grow, so that they may help in expanding the empire.

-Keep farming. (Pray for a bumper crop to the God of Awesomeness, E'Spir'Iito(;)) so that my population can grow even more. ;)

-Begin tactfully offering incentives to the barbarian tribesmen to join our nation. By signing up for our military they will get prime Alesian farmland, and Alesian citizenship.

-Don't found any new cities this turn, however do invite citizens to make little villages in-between cities should they tire of urban life. (Fill in the damned territorial gaps, curse you! *shakes fist*;))

-Experiment with the various stones, see if they are suitable and useful building material.

- Have my finest metal workers experiment mixing the copper with the tin. (Read: Make. BRONZE!)

-Should we succeed in making bronze, equip as many soldiers as possible with bronze weapons.

-Make 100 Chosen Swordsmen

-200 Horsemen

Evil Theocracy: Mitsara

The description:

In Mitsara, all the power was in the hands of the Sage. After the Sage's death, the absolute and total control passed to the hands of the Successor to the Sage. The Successors control virtually everything - most aspects of religious, economic, political and sometimes social life of Mitsarians. The Successors are revered and beloved, with strong personality cults each, collected in the Yellow Book. Their decision is always final. A part of Mitsarian culture is the fact that a rebellion is strictly forbidden and considered a horrible sin.

What about bonuses and antibonuses?

Not bad but:
less chance of revolts

more unhappiness.

Uh... people are less happy but unlikely to rebel anyway?

The downside to Evil Theocracy, the way I see it, is problems with economy and diplomacy - in fact, I doubt a lot of people would want to have anything to do with us, the NPCs, unless of the same religion, will hate us by default and when PCs are trying to sign an alliance with us or as much as trade this might cause their population to go up in rebellions.

We will, however, be happy. ;)

less happy because ur killing people, and eventually that will impact upon everyone, either a friend, loved one, obviously some people will be very happy i.e. the evil soldiers.
less likely to rebel since they are afraid. very afraid.

and obviously NPC's will hate you, I took that as granted.
