stEspIINES - Realised Dreams

OOC: The only way you could make me any happier is to add some more islands in that western sea between the NW and S landmasses.

You do remember where I was supposed to be located, right? You know, on the NW landmass, to the northwest from that large southern bay. Name that bay "Bay of Otehal" and the hilllands - Neheblem Hills.

I understand I don't have to send orders for the first update?

IC:

Brief History:

The Baheblee, or Mitsarim, peoples settled down in the Neheblem Hills since ancient times, presumably 700 AC (After Creation) by the Main Calendar. It is believed that they once had an unified empire, which later broke down into four warring states, Hablara (west), Ohebla (east) and Kalaba (north), and, finally, Mitsara (center). The three first states were constantly fighting each other, while Mitsara profited by controlling the safest trade routes, providing gold and "volunteers" to all the sides involved while remaining neutral. Though the three states tired each other out, Mitsarim cared little for unifying their Baheblee brethren, and it seemed as if this system will continue for many more centuries. One person was to change that.

---

"In the Baheblee Empire, there was a good, strong, just, honorable prince. And he did go to establish justice and order wherever he saw it needed, fighting evil wherever he saw it. And he did challenge the God of Darkness, Otehal, to a honest battle. And the Dark One did give him a fair battle, and smashed him with ease, and for a century was the heart of the prince eaten out alive.

In the Baheblee Empire, there was an evil, wicked, cunning, honorless prince. And he did go to establish power over many lands, fighting great and honorable heroes wherever he met them. And he did plan to usurp the throne of the God of Light, Telekhan, by a cunning plot. And the Bright One did see through it, and defeated him easily, and for a century were the prince's eyes burned alive.

And in the Baheblee lands, there was a wise sage. And he did not challenge the God of Darkness directly, and he did not plot against the God of Light. And he did see that both of them were worth each other, and both planned to enslave and divide the humans. And he did see that no mortal could fight a God. And so he went to the God of Blood, Aramon. And so he signed a treaty with him, and Aramon did protect the Baheblee peoples from the other two Gods. And the Baheblee peoples did pay Aramon tribute."
- Excerpt from the "Red Book".

---

The wise sage moved through the desert.

'Light burns our eyes.'

'Darkness eats our hearts.'

His name was Drehagan. He wore robes of a priest, but it was neither white nor black. It was red. Blood red.

He walked silently through the sand storms.

He entered Or-Itsara. He walked through the proud city. And noone dared notice him. Priests of Telekhan and Otehal ignored him as he climbed the Hill of Gods.

He stood on it firmly.

"People of Or-Itsara! Mitsarim!" - he yelled out.

Suddenly, it was as if the entire city woke up and noticed him. The crowds surrounded the Hill of Gods.

"Mitsarim! We have a destiny, my people. We are favored by a God!"

What God? The crowds, the priests were trying to figure it out. Which one of the two Gods was on their side? Which was against? Otehal? Telekhan?

"Let it be known - Otehal and Telekhan - yes, I pronounce their names now! - are all against us."

The priests were outraged. The crowd was confused.

"Light burns our eyes! Darkness eats our hearts! For a century, and a century after it, and many, many milennias, Light and Darkness struggled for souls of Mitsarim! Light and Darkness oppose us!"

The King of the Mitsarim was governing in an alliance with both Otehal and Telekhan. He was enraged, just as the priests. He begun climbing the great hill of sand. The Hill of Gods.

"Blasphemer!" - he yelled out.

Drehagan ignored him.

"Light and Darkness fight for us, to enslave us! The Vahish (day sky) and the Lahish (night sky), the Sun and the Moon are fighting to control us, to use us, to eat us or burn us. They fight to deny our greatness!"

The king was still climbing. He already drew his sword.

"Light and Darkness!" - the king yelled out as he finally reached the top of the Hill of Gods - "Bright and Dark Gods! Assist me in destroying this blasphemer!"

Drehagan turned towards the king.

"They will not help humans." - replied the sage - "They oppose us, and we will lose. For mortals could not fight gods."

"And blasphemers could not fight righteous kings!" - yelled out the king, and the crowd was looking at the hill, to see the death of the sage.

"Light and Darkness opppose us!" - replied Drehagan - "We can never win, but we can call on somebody who could defeat the two Gods!"

"No mortal could defeat a God! You contradict yourself, blasphemer!" - the king struck, but Drehagan dodged his sword.

"A God could defeat a God! For there is a Third God!"

"BLASPHEMER!" - the king struck again with rage, yet Drehagan dodged yet another move, despite being an old man. It was as if something else was helping him.

Drehagan was breathing calmly. He took out a knife out of his robes. It was a very sharp knife, and there was a red gem in its hilt. It was odd. The shadow was not falling on it. The sun did not reflect in it. The king looked at it awestruck. Drehagan entered the knife into the king's breast, and took out his heart. The blood was beginning to leak. The king was gasping. Drehagan took out a drinking horn, and filled it with the king's blood.

"The God of Blood shall now make himself known once more!" - he shouted to the priests who were now not as much enraged as they were... scared. Horrified.

"Look at the blood!" - he shouted - "Is the blood that comes out of our veins and arteries bright? Is it dark? Is it white or black? No! It is RED!"

Drehagan drank the blood from the horn, leaving only a very small amount which he spilled on the sun.

"Could one eat or burn blood? Is it creation of a Dark or Bright God? Is there anything more important to all things that live? NO! Blood is within us all. It is our greatest treasure, and should not be kept by unworthy! This king called me, the Prophet of Aramon, the God of Blood, a blasphemer. He offended Aramon! He deserves not to keep the blood, and so it is released!"

At that point, some of the crowd begun chanting the name of a God. Of Aramon.

"Aramon!" - Drehagan looked down, at the blood-stained sand on the top of the hill.

"O, God of Blood! To you I have sacrificed the king who had offended you! I now sign a Treaty of Blood with you! Make our people great! Protect it from Gods of Light and Darkness! And in return, we shall give back to you BLOOD!"

The sun hid behind the clouds. It seemed as if the remaining sky was... dark-red. The shadows hid as well - strangely. And a rain fell. A rain of blood.

The Treaty of Blood was signed. Aramon spilt his blood over Or-Itsara, in return for the blood of the king, the father of the people.

---

"And the Sage took over the Mitsarim. And was a day of horror to the enemies of Aramon. And was the beginning of Mitsarim glory."
- Excerpt from the "Red Book".

great stories everyone. to clarify, no im not hcanging rules, just rewording them, they were long winded and useless last time round.

I noticed that others have mapped out not only the location of their capital city, but their starting territory. Is that allowed?

yeah, it is, I'd liek to go make my own, and lnclude a minor settlment, like many others have

Historical Account of the Battle of Atretox

Ortorix did summon all his men to march on the final stronghold of the enemy, Taracte. From the nine tribes that had united under him thus far he drew warriors, and had even recruited from the Highlander tribes mercenaries. That was how far Ortorix's influence did spread.'

'They gathered at the sacred grove of Abnotara, goddess of war, to offer final prayers to her. The warriors did break into a chant, along with the druidic priests. Then the other men of the city, which at that time was a small settlement. Then did the women, then did the children, and all were chanting for a glorious victory.'

'And so did the Great Chieftain set out northwesterly to the city of Taracte with one-thousand* men, from many lands. Alesians, Gallisians, Noratians, Moteians, Paroteians, Lotatians, Oradunians, Fereinians. And even foreigners such as Germacians and Highlanders.'

'They went through the Forest of Ages and found themselves upon a flat plain named Atretox. And when the High King did gaze in the northwesterly direction to his eyes came to vision of the grand army of the rebellious tribe Darocia, two thousand men strong.'**

'And so did the Son of Rix and Ora draw his men in a battle line and did the enemy chieftain Mantorix do the same, except he made two lines just as long as the Chieftain's.'

'And when the High King did blow the warhorn his army charged, for each man his army had the Darocians numbered twice. The men drew their axes and with a great warcry did the armies meet.'

'In the midst of battle the Great Chieftain lobbed the head of Mantorix from its shoulders. When the Darocian army saw this, they turned and fled back to their city of Taracte, where each one of them, ashamed of their failure, killed themselves.'

'And so one day later did the High King march into Taracte unopposed, where in a great act of mercy he spared the Darocian people, and their oppidum was saved. And a few days later he went back to Alesia to begin working on the grand capital, where he would be coronated as High King, Great Chieftain, and Son of the Wolf and the Bear by the united council of Druids.'

'And so were the lands of Celtos united.'

*- Most Archaeologists now agree it was more like 100 men.

**-Most Archaeologists now agree it was more like 200 men.

no. it isnt allowed. i will do starting territory. will be very small. all settlemnetd and expansion can be done in first orders as such. if you have color requests then i can change you now. not later. i will do intro tomorrow night and first update sunday. stats will gradually come online before first update.

Fine with me. It would just make it more realistic to my stories if I could start with at least the minor village in addition to the major city. And like I said, I want an orangish color, preferably more peachy than the default in paint.

I would like to be green, as far as colors go.

---------

Vashai burst out of his hut.
"What are you doing, young man? Get back here!"
Vashai paid no heed to the woman standing in the doorway. He ducked under the daily commune of people in the street and disappeared into the crowd, from his mother's point of view.
"Hey, watch out!"
Vashai barely avoided a collision with a creaky batoraud, a small wheelbarrow-like cart pulled by one man and carrying one passenger.
He hopped over the fence by the tannery like he had done so many times before, and headed down the central street, lined by huge stone buildings. He could already see the huge congregation of people up ahead, and hear the booming voice of an announcer. The proceedings had begun, Vashai was just in time.

"...and uphold the integrity of this great alliance, formed by the great Isavai almost half a century ago! Do you accept this responsibility, my lord?"
Vashai could now clearly see the man that the announcer was speaking to, and he grinned widely.

"I do."

And so erupted a great cheer from the two-thousand or so people gathered around, as today was a great day for the Empire of Khaumasu. The announcer lifted up an elaborately decorated headress, and placed it on the head of the other man.

"And so today, we, the people and spirit of Khaumasu, crown the second king of our great alliance of tribes, Uanauviv the 2nd! May he rise to greater heights than even his father!"

Needless to say, there was much cheering.

a blue hue for me please :D

Oh, come on, can't you just update? And don't forget to add my neighbours. And remember - they are poor and weak.

Anyhow, the year of the first update is now "Year of the Sage" by the Mitsarian Calendar. Other years are divided into "Before the Year of the Sage" (BYS) and "After the Year of the Sage" (AYS).

The Year of the Second Sun: AT 0

In the Year of the Second Son, the scattered bands of wandering humans came down from the high pastures from where they had herded their sheep, they came out of the low valleys in which they had lived peacefully, and began to form tightly-knit communities living in one, permanent village.

Ortorix united the Alesian tribes becoming the first Great Chief, and they settled on the rolling grasslands near to the seas, calling their village Alesiana.

Under Primarch Bazeron I, the Avernum tribe founded Avernum, settled on a high ridge, right beside the river, offering a wonderful view of the area as well as a fortitfied, and maintined city - somthing not lost on the settlers.

The Khaumasi Empire developed from the Khaumic tribes inhabiting the Aizhuaku jungle after Isavai the Great united the seven biggest tribes: Otau, Shaim, Sonai, Guarom, Giduaka, Zaushua, and Temu. under the leadership of Uanauviv II they founded Izhashov.

In the extreme North, the Kiatians and the Mitsara founded their capitals. Under The Sage Drehagan, Or-Itsara was founded in the Nehebleem Hills.

The Leskean Alliance built Terykghua, meaning Fortress Defending from the Strange People", at the mouth of a river on the island they inhabited under Lordchief Eris Kayuka.

Under Kuzani Sojini the Tourijan built the city they named after themselves, a varied collection of tribes who had grown massively due to the rapid domestication of a rather common cereal in the area.

The Sabahnese, under Javarman I, founded Ankor Javar. They consist of a confederation of tribes, allied after war had drained their villages for centuries. Now, the people have settled down, and the tribes have elected a leader, one javarman. They have formally turned into one nation, and for the good of Javardi and to create eternal peace with the spirits, they seek to expand to all 4 corners of the world.

Desmon I became ruler of the Daruk tribe in the southern part of a large delta, bordered by two great rivers and miles of deserts to every direction.

Now the tribes must survive in the inhospitable world, thus began the Third Age.

Woot! Can I be a kind of green? A kind of Celtic-looking green? Like the Celts' color in Civ3, or their alternate color? Blue just... Blech.:p

Story and orders later.:)

Story Later, Orders NOW!

Orders:
-Begin forging bronze swords and armor and equip our original 250 warriors. The new warriors (original warrior now equipped with bronze) are to be called "Chosen Swordsmen", and shall be the cream of the crop, their training brutal, but the rewards are great. (explained when story is posted. Different from last time. Perhaps more comical. ;))

-Recruit 200 warriors

-Send my Druidic priests and preachers to the barbarian tribes. Tell them of the greatness of the empire, and try to appeal to their wants for plunder. These guys have relatively the same culture as me, so chances of their killing the Druidic delegation that I send is slim to low-none. Send these druids without any warriors, to prove that we mean no harm. But do bring them great gifts (elaborately-carved chariots, bronzeware, dancers, ale and whatnot). Desired Outcome: These tribes unite with me, their oppida (settlements) incorporated into my empire.

-Send 50 of my newly recruited warriors to scout the land. Make sure that they go after the druids successfully unite the other tribes with

-Send my most loyal citizens to the spots indicated as red dots on the map to set up new towns. Their chancres of revolt are slim to low-none, and make sure to, once the settlement's construction is complete, to send over dancers and beer and all the things that make colonists happy.;)

-Throw a great festival in every village and in every town and in the capital itself, proclaiming that the gods have given us the mastery of metalworking, and that we are unstoppable! (Psyche them up for war and expansion and whatnot)

-Build bronzeworking forges across the empire, providing great opportunities in this field (increased production of bronzeware, bronze weapons, bronze shields, and bronze swords, and increased economic growth)

-Begin setting up schools, headed by the intellectuals and druids. (Gotta have an educated, thusly less likely to revolt and much more well-managed, populace.;))

-Issue an edict. Any man, woman, or group of people who succeed in capturing 20 horses (10 male and 10 female) alive and bring them to me still alive shall not have to pay taxes (grain) to the High King and Great Chieftain for one year. But the groups can only be 50 men (or women) strong.

-Experiment and expand farming operations. Try out new crops, fertilize the crops with fish, crop rotation, whatever. Just increase the food output (increased food=increased population, yo!;)) And if experiments don't work, just build a hell of a lot more farms.

More Orders May Come. Watch this space.
