alright, I'll settle down, though concidering that my orders turned out to be bust, and that the triarii I've tried so hard ot flesh out just got quashed by a bunch of barbarians who dont even have a unified state, and assorted other crap, I've got ever right to be, adn as every one around here shoudl know, I express the right vibrentlly, colourfully, and very often ;)
 
Xen, you lost 50 tirarii to barbarians...your whining about that? And i will not take anymore complaining on the thread, PM or IM me.

Byzantium Glory was spreading, all trade between the Med. Sea and the Black Sea must go through Byzantium. The goods of the East comes through Byzantium to Europe. The position of Byzantium was a strategic and easily a profit maker of a position. Pirates were beginning to take advantage of Byzantium's wealth! This cannot be allowed to continue! Pirates cannot dare threaten a country! The navy must be improved. So a original design was created:

It was predicted that it would take a very long time to finish designing this ship. The pirates would not wait, so the navy will be improved without this design. Byzantium was rich, but it did not have the furnances, mines, and other needed services. So, the agenda of the year, was already completed... The wealth of the Byzantine Merchants were ever growing, the King had decided to increase their taxes at a later date.

In the east, the Hittite Empire had been established. The King feared that the Hittite King would try to conquer Byzantium. But other matters must come first, trade and prosperity. Byzantium had set it's sight on controlling the trade routes between the Med Sea and the Black Sea, it would be something that will be accomplished... The King decided to build a city at the ending of the Tirgris River to defend from the Hittite Empire.

The Hejir Dynasty had succesfully ruled Macoroba for 2200 years. During their reign the Sheiks had expanded the realm of the once small city state over three big citys and a good piece of land along the Red Sea. Countless improvements had been built, like the walls of Macoroba, the libarys of Medina and the stone buildings of Jizan. The army was more then cabable of defending Macoroba and with Egypt as a trade partner, the Sheik hoped to fill the treasures with gold soon.

Only minor problems disturbed the rulers in Mecca - The bedouins had appearded in the dessert and the people were not sure how to handle these people. They could only hope that they were peaceful. In the south the two rival nations of Saba and Hadhramaut continued to grow. Although they hadn´t shown any hostilitys yet, Jizan was prepared for any attacks at the southern border. The garnision was always on guard and the border was patrolled by a small detachment.

Meanwhile a new fashion had appeared in the upper classes of Mecca and Medina: Horse Breeding. The Sheiks had always had stables for their chariot horses and they always tried to breed better horses. Soon the rich classes adapted this fashion and started to breed their own horses. Over the centuries this fashion evolved and soon the might of an sheik was measured by his horses. Jobs involving horses got higher respect then the "normal" jobs like farmer or herder. Being a horse breeder was a great honour and those lucky indivuals soon become very rich persons.

split the military into 2 equal Divisions:
First Division is in charge of border defence. They should be a little heavier along the Prussian border then the others cause we do not yet have an established relationship with Prussia. If needed can help out the Bulgars with their road building to Moscow (assuming they do it). Also provide some security along the roads to Muskovy and Scythia.
The Second Division is going on the offencive against the Viking Barbarians. See message to vikings below and story and map of offencive for details.

Kniaz Roddy the Eighth

Over the ages, the nation of Roddyna has become a beacon of enlightenment. The best education system in the world combined with a governement willing to spend whatever funds were needed to build and upkeep the infrastructure needed for the growing population had over the ages combined to make Roddyna the envy of its neighbors. The Military had however been for a long time seen as of secondary importance. While a couple of the great leaders had improved the military so that it was on par with most of the civilized nations of the world, there was clearly much room for improvement.
With Roddyna now bordering a civilized and organized nation on almost every side, it was clear that the rapid expansion of the nation that had contributed to its success would come to a grinding halt. The western border of Roddyna was with an unorganized semi nation of barbarians, and was the last direction in which the nation could expand without heavy warfare against an organized army.
Roddy the Eighth had visited some of the Viking towns and had long ago decided that his first priority when he took lead of the nation would be to secure a port on the Baltic sea. As far as he could tell, the Vikings, did not have an orgonized government, and were more like what Roddyna had been a very long time ago - A lot of semi allied villages and towns, each with their own defences, who would come to eachother's defence in the event of outside agression, but fought internaly when there was no greater common enemy, in time of excess they would start bickering and warring for no reason and in years of bad harvests would even start raiding eachother.
Roddy theorized that while the warlords of the Vikings would likely be against joining Roddyna, the average people, the farmers would welcome the benefits of steady military protection, and a government willing to help in time of need.

New unit in the Roddyna Military - The Bowman
With the Roddyna Spearmen being retrained to the use of the more effective Pike, it was decided that the military severely lacked a ranged component. The emphasis of the Bowmen training is Accuracy. A Bowman soldier is constantly tested on his accuracy. The Bowmen are subclassified as long and short distance Bowmen. Those men that are strong enough to use the most powerfull bows with a good degree of accuracy are Long range Bowmen, their reload and aim time is considerably slower then their Short range counterparts, but they put enough power into their bigger arrows to fly much further and still hit hard enough to penetrate most light armors. Those Bowmen that prefer firing arrows in quick succession at the oncomming enemy are the Short range Bowmen. Their arrows are lighter and their slighly smaller bows make it much easier to quickly aim their shots. Their arrows are not as effective in penetrating thick armor and would never peirce a good shield, but their large numbers (due to many men quickly firing arrows) more then make up for their lack of power.

Invasion Plans
On the attached immage, the Red territory represents lands that are very important to control, the Green territory, we'll take if the majority of the residents want to join Roddyna. The blue lines are the orders for the invasion army split into 3 parts.
The Invasion force (half the total pikeman+bowman forces) is split once more into 3 attack groups. Each group follows the general line in the map. The top and middle group are to secure the lands they take, to make sure no army sneaks by into Roddyna proper during the invasion. If something small sneaks in, that's ok, as there's still the First Division guarding the current border.
The bottom group is under NO circumstances to attack Prussian forces. If the Prussians are spreading into the barbarian lands, do not try to drive them back. Do not give up lands already taken for Roddyna, but do not advance over whatever line the Prussians consider/and enforce as their border. We do NOT want a war with the Prussians.
The tacktics for any fight with the Vikings is realatively simple. The Pikemen protect the Bowmen, while they rain arrows down on the enemy. Once the enemy is within reach of the Pikes, the Bowmen's main job becomes to keep the enemy from breaking the pike line by concentrating their fire anywhere the Pikemen are having problems.
 
In a temple like many others throughout Eastern Europe, a vast group was meeting. These men were priests of Kievenism. They were discussing what they should try and do to unify the swiftly growing religion. This was a huge debate over the correct teachings. The priests were determined to compromise and come up with one religious doctrine to teach to the masses. They started with what they all agreed on, Kiev was the religions center and had to be honored. It was the religions founding city, and its ruler had to be honored as well in the religion.
Eventually they greed on some important points that everyone must be taught.

1. Kiev is the city with the strongest connection to the heavens. If one needs an important message to the gods answered one should go there and ask them.

2. Kiev is to be regarded as holy. No person following Kievenism shall go to war against Kiev. Kiev should be left as a pristine and beautiful center of civilization regardless of what is going on around the city.

3. Kievenism must be taught to the children beginning immediately from birth.

4. You should have as many children as possible. This will help your family support itself with more help on family jobs, as well secure the survival of Kievenism.

5. Through working hard and attempting to spread the message of Kievenism to others you will assure a good life for yourself and your family among the gods, and the gods will help you more in times of crisis.

6. As stated above, you should try and spread the message of Kievenism. Stay peaceful, unless the gods order otherwise.

These six rules were written down, in more elaborate and embellished terms of course, and carried to temples throughout Muscovy and into the surrounding nations. The priests were told that these must be followed at all costs. There was no telling what could happen if the will of the gods was not followed.

Immediately after that was settled, the priests began planning large expeditions to spread the message of Kievenism and establish temples. They had to prioritize their objectives.

1. The first thing they wished to do was convert the peoples of Muscovy. They would send 20 specially selected priests to the remote, un-Kievian areas of Muscovy.

2. The second thing they wished to do was spread Kievenism to non-Kievian areas of Muscovies allies. They would do this by setting up church-owned trading posts/temples where the huge trading roads entered Muscovy. They would only let Kievian traders out of Muscovy, and before they left provide them with many forms to give to locals in attempts to convert them. This would mean that most if not all of the traders from Muscovy would be converting the citizens of the countries they shared the roads with. The traders from other countries would also be asked to convert upon entering Muscovy, but they would not be stopped if they didn’t. They also of course would continue sending missionaries to their trading partners as well.

3. The people in Northern Muscovy and Southern Prussia must also be converted. It is imperative to the continuation of peace that the Prussians know that the people in the south of their land do not want a war with Kiev. So the proclamation went out that every Kievian community should get together to pay a little money to start construction of Kievian temples in South Prussia. Also many priests from Muscovy would be sent to teach Kievenism in South Prussia.

The Priests created a map. On it they circled the lands that were imperative to convert to Kievenism immediately in red. The ones that must be converted in the next few centuries were circled in green. Now they would attempt to meet their goals. They told their priests to spread these messages, and to notify their follower that with a little working together this was very possible. They also urged the having more children and teaching them was the main key.

The king of Muscovy, an active support of the church, was pleased by the more aggressive method it was taking to ensuring its survival. He realized that this population explosion Kievenism was starting could have bad effects on the country, if he didn’t prepare. In order to do this he ordered the construction of more technologically advanced farms throughout his nation. Forests should be cleared where needed, and land plowed, in order to turn Muscovy into a grand, as he put it, breadbasket.

He also ordered that his best engineers begin researching new techniques for providing water and transportation to the farms. The best idea was to make canals from the river that formed Muscovies southern border.

The king also ordered that his army be put on patrol along the Prussian border in case the Prussians attack. They are of course told to let civilians cross unless they are suspicious.

Orders:
-Follow the stories actions for Kievenism(Converting missions, etc.)
-invest 1 economy in improving farming techniques, building more farms, and beginning to build canals from the Danube
-place troops on patrol of the Russian border.

Ofcourse if kievenist priests are seen spreading this false religion inside our borders it might affect our relations w/ your people very negatively.

Of course you realize our ruler doesnt control the independant churches decisions about sending out priests. ALso we do not appreciate the religion of our people being called false. I will not order my troops to defy priests, as they probably will not listen to me anyway. Hoepfuly we can agree that our nations should be peacful without restricting the religious views of our people. Kievism shouldnt affect your rule at all unless you plan to conqure the peacful country of Muscovy.
 
The war with Prussia was over as control was re-established over Silesia. Nationalism flared across the German Reich as word of Barbarossa's valiant speech spread throughout Germany, and people did indeed join the Army.

Kaiser Wilhelm noticed that there was still no real religion in Germany. The admiration of Barbarossa still permeated the German peoples and soldiers. High Priests even started a new religion - Barbarossism - in honor of Barbarossa, and temples were beginning to be erected.

The main tenets of Barbarossism are:
1. National pride and a will to defend the homeland from foreign invasions.
2. Keep a military tradition. Do not weaken resolve to be the best militarily.
3. When invaded, do not just let them take the land. Make sure they have to WORK for it. Fight them!
4. Maintain national unity. Have quarrels not with your fellow German but with your foreign enemy who threatens you and your country.
5. Maintain peace and order within the nation. Do not succumb to barbarian desires that may be hiding somewhere within each person.
6. Do not go around attacking every other country. Only do so when directly provoked or threatened or when a friend and ally is threatened.

Temples already spread as this new religion spread and Barbarossa became even further immortalized.

Pay the other Economy to Prussia.
Place 200 troops by the Helvetian border, just in case.
Use 100 troops to take some more of that coastal land just north of the Helvetians.
The rest of the troops keep peace and order throughout the country.

The war was over, but the struggle had just begun, prussia had begun reconstruction and building of trade and infrastructure.
The payment promised by germany had not come, and was extremely needed; it appeared that the germans only said yes when a sword was at their throats.....Barbarossa? silly, he is no leader, he is simply a coward!, but they can worship anyone they want.

EDUCATION PROJECT
Education was the primary target of prussia, for the land was barely civilized, more like an organized number of barbarian villages.
A new alphabet was developed, RUNES, they would help unify the nation and keep the other nations religions from affecting us, for we would not understand their false talks.

Do not even dare to insult us and our great war hero like that! We have already paid the first Economy to you last turn, when the peace was declared and you withdrew! And the other Economy is already under way even as we speak! We honestly thought that your merciful agreement to giving us peace would herald a new era of better relations between our nations. But apparently we were wrong in thinking that you sought a good relationship with us when apparently you do not wish for anything like that, as was proven by your insults at Barbarossa, Barbarossism, and therefore Germany. We do want to bury the past but it seems like you don't, as we do not insult your national heroes and your national pride, while you automatically jump to going off on us. Do it again and we will never even think about helping you should a nation more powerful than even you come and threaten you.

We apologize for the information you received...... we are having problems w/ the possible introducation of Kievenism, and another religion spreading can cause us no good.
It is a new era, thats why we concentrate in education so we can be more cordial and diplomatic, we are almost barbarians.
