Sariscari (n)- Sah-rhis-kah-ree

-A type of galley crafted by the Sariscan people in ancient times, noted for their unrivaled speed and manoueverability, being able to keep pace with even modern warships.

The legendary Sariscaris quickly became the backbone of the Sariscan navy after being developed and put into service. Their speed, over twice that of a normal galley, was due to several features in their construction.

Firstly, these ships were even longer and slimmer than regular galleys, giving them unprecedented aerodynamics.

Secondly, these ships had a main sail PLUS a secondary sail that could be used if the ship was travelling on an angle to the wind, doubling the surface the wind would push.

Thirdly, through a unique gear and pulley system, Sariscaris had TWO rudders, on the front and back. Their ram at the front could swivel along with the main rudder in the back, giving a normally clumsily handling ship (due to its increased length) top of the line manoueverability. This created a tendency for Sariscaris to capsise, but a deeper keel fixed that, at a small cost to the Sariscari's great speed. Newer ships are being consturcted to have easily removable rudders, for fast travel in fine conditions and stability in storms and battles.

With Sariscan naval ingenuity, Sariscaris took very little time to become the most famed vessels in the western Mediterranean.

On Tuesday I managed to finish half of the update, and I planned on finishing it when I got home from college on wednesday. Unfortunately the computer and internet here as fallen into disrepair since I have been gone, and have only now re-established the connection. As soon as I have time tomorrow, I will finish it.
